A. Were the expectations or objectives you set for this subject during the start of semester match with what you have attained? Explain.
I think, the expectation and the objectives that I have set for this subject is reached. From the start of the semester, I thought that the class will be fun and interactive and it happened. We have made many activities that made the subject more interesting and enjoyable just like making podcasts and storyboards which I have enjoyed so much. I also learned many things about threats on social media platforms which I know will be tackled on the course.
 B. Message/suggestion(s) for the teacher.
I want to thank our teacher Ma’am Nicole for teaching us about Media and Information Literacy especially on the lessons concerning media threats that could easily make a social media user a victim of unreliable sources. I also want to thank her for teaching us how to sort out sources in order to find a reliable one. I hope that she will continue to share her knowledge to the student in order to let them be informed on the threats and benefits of different media platforms.

Social Media in the Philippines is Widespread, but what is its Impact?
October 12, 2011
By Emil Tapnio, Steven Rood
How did social networking help in the Philippine elections?
The social networking became a road for a more peaceful election. An example of social networking sites that aided on the Philippines’ election was the BMPM or the Boto Mo Ipatrol Mo advocacy by ABS-CBN. This advocacy improved the election system by lowering the violence produced because of the Boto Patrollers that have signed in order to pose their observations on their place. The Patrollers have the power to share the current situation on their region enabling the credibility of the results to increase. The advocacy also made a way for the voters to be more knowledgeable on proper steps to have a responsible and peaceful election.
How did the Asia Foundation help the advocacies of some human rights-based organizations?
The Asia Foundation partnered with the organizations that advocate human rights. This action enabled the general public to be more literate on using social media landscapes especially on human rights advocacy works. This action also made their political campaigns reached out the online society as well as encourages the public to support the campaign.
How did the USAID and the authors help non-government organizations in their advocacies and objectives?
The authors of the article as well as the USAID helped the “Digital Activism Campaign” by conducting a series of trainings on June 2010. The training made the official sites of human rights-based organizations to be more active on spreading their advocacies by having an average of one (1) post per week. The said training also made a way to start an Expanded Digital Activism Training in partnership with DAKILA – Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism resulting on the addition of NGOs and key government agencies to participate the advocacy.
How did Ardan Sali of the Bangsamoro Center for Just Peace in the Philippines use social networking in its advocacies?
Ardan Sali was one of the participants on the Expanded Digital Activism Training and has used his blog to create a prototype website called Tiyakap Kawagib (Care for Rights). He used his understanding to disseminate a clean and user friendly interface
What was the purpose of hashtag #WeWantPnoyTo? Do you think it was an effective tool for awareness and change?
The hashtag #WeWantPnoyTo was used on the State of the Nation Address (SONA) 2011. The hashtag was used in order to let President NoyNoy be aware of the concerns of advocates. I think that the hashtag was an effective tool to start an awareness as well as it reaches a larger scale population. The hashtag will become a way to let Pres. NoyNoy be aware of the complaints and concers of the Filipino community.

The posts that are known and spreading in the media are sometimes not reliable. They can only be known because of the sense it conveys.
