Remus nodded eagerly, half-hoping to bring some cheer to his classmate. It seemed clear that something was bothering the girl. “They were a life saver,” He said with a grin. “I’d would’ve failed that last test if it weren’t for you,”

     It was a nice change, the sincerity. She could tell he was trying to make her feel better, but from what, she had no clue. As far as days go, this one was just like any other. Alright, so maybe a letter from her mum delivered this morning had put a pin in her otherwise LOVELY day, but wasn’t that something she ought to be used to by now? Smiling prettily for the kind lad, Emma waved a delicate hand at his appreciation. “Not at all, love. You’re clever all on your own. If not my notes, then by your own determined will would you have been fine.”

MACDONALD.

“i’m tired, not jumpy. ii’m completely fine on the whole being not scared of you thing, you aren’t that scary.” she would never admit aloud how scared she tended to be of everyone in the castle, everyone bar a handful of people and she was still kicking herself for letting remus know how scared she was. nodding, she took a small seat and stared ahead, watching everything in front of her. “good summer, vanity?”

             “Of course ‘m not. Just your average witch, in fact.” With the funny little ability to CRAVE the sweet taste of blood, right? Her cheeks turn a shade of pink at the unexpected thought as the other accepted her company &. she clears her throat, metaphorically washing her hands of those impure urges. With a shrug, she replies, “it was neither good, nor bad. Fashion shows, photoshoots, dinner with mum’s friends ... pretty average, I’d say.” Though her tone is far too BITTER for the other to convey this is bragging. “How about YOUR summer, love?”

“Mhm.” Darcy nodded as if she believed every word the girl spoke, and settled back. “Well, little miss confident, why don’t you go first?”

       Pretty pink petals form a smirk as she leans forward in her seat, a mischievous sparkle in her eyes. “Say goodbye to your sweets while you can, love. I happen to have a thing for winning &. chocolate frogs myself.” &. so she made the first move, positively radiating when she saw her advantage from the beginning. now all there was left to do was wait for the other.

darcy’s eyes widened only momentarily at the thought of not being able to get her favorite sweets for the week, before her face composed into an expression of determination. “you talk way too much for someone who’s going to lose.” she retorted, dealing out the last of the cards and setting the deck aside.

     “I talk because the level of concentration I need to win isn’t very high; I just win. But if it makes you feel more comfortable, mum’s the word,” the little hybrid teases, miming locking her lips &. throwing away a key as she watches Darcy deal.

she was just enjoying the weather, enjoying the warmth on her skin and the way everyone gathered together. there was a lot of beauty to seeing people together, seeing them laughing and enjoying life, something she still was having to teach herself to do, especially in hogwarts knowing that mulciber was round every corner, that she couldn’t handle, the overwhelming fear that plagued her. jumping at the voice, the small witch turned around with a smile. “no, i’m okay, thank you. i’m so sorry.”

       “You’re awfully jumpy, considering I haven’t done anything to you ... yet.” Only a joke. Maybe. Looking the other up &. down with little interest, she yawns, taking it upon herself to invite the other to take a seat. “Go on, then. You don’t have to stand there pondering whether you should run or not. I don’t bite, Macdonald.”

“Do I need to borrow your lipstick?” The werewolf laughed, shaking his head. “Don’t think it’s my color.” He reached into his bag and unrolled a scroll of notes, offering them out to his classmate. Remus supposed that if he were more inclined toward social pursuits, perhaps if they both her, he and Vanity would be better friends. Instead, they’d developed a comfortable distance, which is what he tended to appreciate best. “I wanted to return your notes, Vanity. Really needed them after I went home last week, thank you.”

     she shrugs carelessly, storing her things back into their place &. pausing to watch him. “ah, thanks. if not for you, i’d have let you keep them all this time.” emma reaches forward, repossessing the scrolls with a faint smile that doesn’t quite reach her eyes. “did they help you? my writing’s as bad as my memory, I’m afraid.”

“Well, well well, what have we here?”

     short of a quick glance, emma paid no mind to the other as she continued to chat animatedly with her girls, throwing her curls over her shoulder every once in awhile.

Esmeralda visibly grimaced as she glanced down at the envelope in her hand, and jerked her hand forward to hand off the unintended mail. “Just from my papa.” She responded offhandedly, not even having to glance at the sender. “Why are you getting a howler?” She inquired with furrowed brows.

          a mischievous grin appears on the gryffindor’s features. “ i’d rather not brag, but let’s just say filch is going to have an awfully hard time pawing at my or anyone else’s arse with his hands temporarily stuck to his junk. ”

Darcy pouted and whined childishly at being brushed off by her friend, but regardless, allowed her glasses to float gently to the ground and dealt out the demanded cards skillfully. “I think you’re getting false luck.” She teased.

           a roll of her eyes affectionately at her childish friend before she blew a curl from her face &. leaned forward. “ that’s just the fear talkin’, honey. i just hope you don’t come cryin’ to me when you can’t buy your sugar quills this weekend after i clean you out, ” the pretty witch tsks with a smile.

     bored out of her mind doesn’t even begin to describe the vivacious witch. she shields her honey-tinted eyes from the harsh sun, picking her head up from the back of the bench she occupied out in the courtyard. while others gathered in groups around her, emma took the road less traveled &. made do with herself, though it was apparent her patience with advanced potions was running thin. with a loud scoff, she shut the book in her lap &. retrieved a tube &. mirror from her bag. as she applied a fresh coat of red, a shadow overtook her small figure, though her interests were still not peaked. “ d’you need to borrow this, darling? ”

“I think our letters got mixed up, sorry about that. Don’t worry, I didn’t open it or anything.”

    “ that was probably a smart decision. it’s from my stepmother, so it just might be a howler. yours, however, looks promising. ” she hands her the cream-colored envelope, a ribbon tied round it. as for hers, she tosses the unwelcomed letter into the fireplace with a grimace.

“Yeah, I’m just that good.” Darcy said smugly, a broad grin on her lips as she continued to display her work of wandless magic on her pair of glasses.

“ dios mio, stop messing around &. deal the cards, matthews. i’m half a glass in &. feelin’ pretty lucky. ”

literally i’m the worst but hear me out. my work’s been driving me straight into the goddamned ground with all these hours and terrible scheduling and just i’m putting in my two week’s because i don’t need this shit  ✌ but i’ll be here all night!!!
