Small artists you need to understand that when you see an artist who you think has 'made it' tells you not to worry about the numbers and to not fret about getting more likes than reblogs they are not telling you it because they think you are stupid for caring or because they dont need to network to survive they are very likely telling you that because they have witnessed first hand the way the numbers game tears people to shreds in terms of mental health and motivation

all goofing aside I genuinely don't understand the urge to reimagine Taylor Allison Swift as a secretly queer icon when the pop music scene(TM) is like. literally overflowing with women who actually like women. Gaga and Kesha and Miley and Halsey are right there. Rina Sawayama and Hayley Kiyoko and Rebecca Black and Kehlani and Victoria Monét and Miya Folick if you're willing to get slightly less top 100. Janelle and Demi for them nonbinary takes on liking girls. like what are we doing here. like I'm not even saying you can't enjoy Taylor but why would you hang all your little gay hopes on her.

Re reading my little writing earlier and realizing the funniest possible way to describe Calcine's hivemind is just "imagine they just have an internal discord call that they're all hanging out in 24/7 as they go about their day to day life piloting a seven segmented skellipede body together"

okay i have NO clue if ill be able to bet this level of detail with colored pencil at this scale but i have a PLAN SKETCHED OUT AND TEST RUN DIGITALLY AT LEAST.... THIS IS WHAT IM HOPING FOR

the great news about faceups being done in colored pencil is thats like the only brush ive been using for Months so it should translate pretty fuckin easily.... i really want to do colored pencil layers i think itll come out Really cute

I got a new head for my vin wip doll because I wanted something I could use acrylic eyes with

SO I GOT THIS ONE.... IT'S REALLY CUTE I CANT WAIT TO DO A FACEUP!!!

I also got some hair parts I can use with it since this head fits Nendoroid hair, so I'm gonna paint and MAYBE mod those (at the very least, add horns)

I'M REALLY EXCITED TO DO HIS FACEUP i was originally debating between just using his previous head or getting a new one, but with this one I can use acrylic eyes and I think the ones I got are SUPER cute so I think I made the right decision

I went a little insane and wrote a Whole piece of writing from Calcine's perspective about their existence and their history and how they became Calcine

So uh

HAVE THAT, UNDER THE CUT!

At first we were several.

Back then we had our own names and forms, though we care not to talk about them now. We started life roaming the earth separately, with our own bodies and desires. But, as our paths continued to cross, the most divine of miracles happened. We fell in love.

It started with the kind of relationship most mortals have, of course. We lived in our own minds, and we kept our own shapes and names, and we simply traveled together. Shared our beds, our meals, our homes. But as time grew longer, we learned to open our minds to each other, too.

Once we heard each other's thoughts, it became harder and harder to close the channel each time. It had felt so close and warm sharing the same thoughtspace, and it was so... quiet, when we closed the connection. The hum of one another's thoughts made us feel so... close, that even within our own bodies we still felt like we were one humming frequency, a chorus who frequently hit the same notes.

We liked the chance to share this secret line with one another, a private channel we could share everything within, our own quiet conversation outside of everyone else in the world. We had a running panel where we got to speak our deepest and most honest feelings, unheard by anyone else. We loved how it felt to have a privacy more profound and perfect than anyone else in existence.

After a while, we found it too distracting to engage with the world outside as a group of bodies. We would send one representative out, carrying all the others in their mind, and we would all experience the world through their eyes. In those days, we simply put our other bodies to sleep when our singular vessel ventured out. We kept them in storage then, waking only when our representative tired and needed to rest. We would rotate our vessel, one body taking turns each time to carry a harmony of minds out into the world with them.

eventually, our individually held names ceased to be useful. At any given time, one name would just be the face used to speak our council of thoughts to others, and we would tire of needing the mouthpiece to identify who was speaking at what time- the running conversation we had too fluid and frequent to need to establish who said what

We started to use us, then, a collective to refer to all of us in concert. By this point the changing faces we used grew burdensome- we started growing more harmonious in our shape, so that it would be easier to proceed as if we were just one continuing state of existence

We eventually found that we had all taken the same shape, that we were operating one body at a time like a crew running a ship. We would go about the tasks we needed bodies for, but we would find it wasteful to keep our other bodies tucked away somewhere sleeping. It necessitated finding somewhere for them to remain hidden and safe, a place to stash them every day. It felt like a burden, hiding away a whole hive of bodies, leaving them vulnerable and asleep

We started to think we could perhaps learn to operate them all at once- all as a unit. As a collection of bodies that walked at once, moved at one, but felt like a singular body

We formed a new shape, then, something efficient and unique- something with individual segments that could be separated when necessary- a chain of simple limbs that could operate efficiently when we needed to partition our attention between them, but one that would work together as a unit when our attention was all focused in a singular direction. A singular creature with multiple segments.

We decided then that when we formed this shape together, we would no longer need our own names. We would be Us, a singular demon known as Calcine. We discarded them, and we gathered our bodies together and took the shape of our segments. From that time forward we were Us, and we have been Us ever since.
