I've struggled with sleep paralysis my entire life, since I was maybe eight years old. It was a lot more frequent as a kid, and now it's a little more uncommon. As a kid/ teen I used to get all the scary hallucinations and stuff, but that's less common now as an adult.
But I had woken up at like 4 am, I searched the statue of Hypnos online for some reason (I can't remember why I did this) and went back to sleep.
I remember not being able to move and thinking 'oh shit, I'm gonna slip into full paralysis in a second unless I can get myself to move,' but sure enough it wasn't working and it almost felt like I had been completely submerged underwater, just without the drowning.
I panicked and started to pray to Hypnos, not knowing what else to do. Pray is a loose term, it was just, "Hypnos, Hypnos, help, help, help-"
But I did feel him, and right in front of me, like he was crouching next to my bed, and I felt like he was telling me to keep my eyes shut. At the time I thought this was more of a "Don't look at me," thing but looking back, he definitely could have just been trying to ease me back to sleep instead of having me wake up. Honestly I'm open to either idea.
Well I wasn't calming down, because I hate being in sleep paralysis, I always feel like I can't breathe, and I need to wake up so I can assure myself that I can breathe, and a few moments later, I was awake and sitting up.
But his presence felt so strange, but not in a bad way. It was powerful, and I felt/ heard like this pulsing energy, like waves, in my head before it calmed and eased a little. I've had sleep paralysis my entire life, and it's never felt like that, so I genuinely believe it was him.
I'll definitely have to thank him and give some sort of offering today.
I know this can be easily written off as a hallucination, and that's fine, I'm not here to convince anyone, I'm just logging my experience

Decided I'd share my first experience with one of the gods.
So when I very first joined this religion, I was still very new and uneducated and I had a tendency to get excited and jump into things headfirst without even looking.
At the time I was going by the flame of my candle and using a die (I was very very inexperienced in divination and hadn't even bonded with the tool) and I thought that Hermes had shown up and just asked for a place on my altar, so I made him one.
I was giving near daily offerings, I was fumbling through prayers, until one day it felt like Hermes actually was there, and it felt like he was amused.
Not necessarily laughing at me out of meanness, but the way an adult may laugh at a child who is trying to do something new, you know?
And I knew he was telling me to slow down. "Slow down, do your research. It's wonderful that you're this excited, but you don't know what you're doing." (Not exact words, but that's the overall feeling I got)
I no longer worship him as a 'main' deity, now it's Dionysus, but I'm glad he told me to chill tf out. I was using tiktok of all things as a resource at the time.

I just realized I got paid, so now I'm off to buy the statue in my cart <3
I had a dream that I was shopping for things to put on my altar, as well as wine for Dionysus, and now I really want to actually go shopping but I'm 鉁笍broke鉁笍
Hopefully they'll understand lol. I'll give more affordable offerings in the meantime
