You laid sprawled over the cold metal bench seat, a very uncomfortable place to rest but it had been hours of pacing the limited space and it was evident you weren’t leaving soon. You couldn’t help but notice the ceiling splotched with untended water leaks and fluorescent lights that no longer served their purpose.

An agonizing creak sounded as the cell door slid open, but you made no effort to move from your comfort. In your peripheral you made out a blonde hair boy, his eyes grazing over you as you laid unbothered.

“Best to not mess with her, she’s as unhinged as it gets.” The deputy remarked, slamming the cell door before walking off.

The boy groaned jokingly before answering back, “Oh c’mon Shoupe, now I cant help myself.”

A smirk danced around your lips but you managed a straight face. Though you couldn’t see the boy, you felt his eyes lingering over you. “Don’t just stare weirdo,” you said crossing your arms as you sat up to face him, “I’m not really that bad.”

He was—a pleasant sight to say the least. Never were you boy crazy but this one, he started a fire inside you. “I wasn’t staring,” he deflected, looking anywhere but at you. He had a telling smirk though, his eyes had been fixated on you since he walked in. “but now you are..so.”

You were hesitant but let yourself crack a smile, he wasn’t wrong.

“I’m Y/N.” You extended your hand, scooting closer to him.

“Jj, uh maybank, what are you in for?” He took your hand bringing it to his lips, a ladies man you could tell.

“Gross,” you teased wiping it away, “I set my family home on fire.”

You busted out in laughter as his face went white, a fearful shade.

“Dude, I’m kidding, I spray painted my Step Dads car & he called it in for vandalism so now I’m here until my mom decides what to do with me.”

“What did it say?” JJ lightened up, slightly amused with your humor.

“I beat erectile dysfunction..” you said through laughter. In no way did you have remorse, he’s a piece of shit anyways.

JJ laughed with you, “No! That’s amazing and something to be proud of.” He added. This only made you laugh harder, certainly proud of your actions.

“And you?” You countered.

“Trying to be a good friend I guess..” he muttered, “I don’t mind taking the fall, the kid has so much more in his future than I do in my lifetime so—“

“Don’t say that. I don’t know you yet but there’s potential in you Maybank.”

You watched him smirk, “yet?”

“Shut up.” You rolled your eyes, a smile wide across your face. He raised his eyebrows at you, chuckling as you laid back down, trying to get any rest that you could. It had been a long night of waiting and who knew when your mom would come get you or really, if she would.

Hiii, I understand where you’re coming from. I have been working on them and not at the pace I want to. It’s hard cause I critique a lot too so I do actually have some finished pieces, I’m just not sure how confident I feel in them. It has taken me longer than I hoped for...much longer because things have been hard for me irl but I’m starting to feel much better. I’m definitely going to start writing more frequently because writing does relieve stress for me but sometimes it’s hard for me to do the thing I really want to do which is just that: to write. Anyways hope you understand, I’ll try my best to get some posted!

“These are beautiful,” you smiled at him, looking back down to admire the bouquet. “Thank you.”

“No problem, Princess but we will have to get you a vase..now I saw one down at—“

“Jj!” Pope exclaimed, “You are not stealing a vase.”

“He already stole the flowers, what more is a vase?” Kie chimed in, shrugging.

“What makes you think I stole em?” Jj raised an eyebrow, not admitting that he had indeed stolen them.

You answered, recognizing the flowers, “About a block away, Mrs. Jetson has the prettiest garden in the neighborhood.”

Jj turned his head towards you immediately, a smirk playing on his lips. He finally let himself crack a smile, not surprised that you knew better.

“I was gonna let it go but our friends love to ruin a moment.” You narrowed your eyes playfully at Kie and Pope who laughed with you.

Jj moved closer, wrapping his arm around you and kissing your temple as you leaned into him. Your lips pressed lightly against his, a tender kiss.

“So...” you smiled, biting down on your lip, “where’d you see that vase?”

A grin plastered across Jj’s face, “That’s my girl.”

You giggled as he then went into detail, a full fledged plan which was a bit crappy as usual but with Popes input, you eventually came up with a solid execution. It didn’t take much to get Kie and John B on board and soon enough you found yourself filling your new vase with water. And yes, Mrs. Jetsons flowers looked just as beautiful as a center piece as they did in the garden.
