Mitchelle!!! I heard you love the Beatles & Paul McCartney (I do too, who doesn’t love Paul?) What’s your fav song by them?
Probably a Hard Day's night,
I know it's real popular, 'nd all that, but it's one of my favorites! That whole album is as close to perfection and you can get, I think.
(PS: Paul's my favorite! He's a real cutie. :D)

"I dunno how someone could even do that. A drug hangover is crazy," She scoffs, shaking her head in disbelief. "Long as he's okay, that's all that matters."
Her face scrunches up. "Real weird people were tellin' you that, ain't it? I sure wouldn't want to know that outta the blue."
"Almost forgot," She holds up a bottle of Coke. "Just this." She digs into her pockets and pulls out a few coins, placing them on the counter.
"You have a good day, Soda. Good luck with your girl situation," She says, waving to him before leaving the DX.
One of the people from the back of the store meanders up to the counter after watching the confrontation between the two girls and Soda.
Sodapop recognizes the girl as Mitchie, Johnny's twin sister and, subsequently, a friend of Pony's. She leans onto the counter, sputtering her lips in thought before speaking:
"You gonna go on a date with her, Soda?" She asks, a disapproving look on her face. "The girl who punched you? That don't make her seem like she'd be a good girlfriend, I don't think."
"That other girl seemed real nice, didn't she? I ain't picking sides, or nothing, but I mean--" She gestures towards Soda. "You could get any other girl, Soda! You shouldn't settle for a girl who laid her hands on you 'cuz she got mad."

Soda still held the napkin up to his mouth and laughed a bit when Mitchelle asked the question. It wasn't because he thought it was funny, he was actually surprised.
“You was watchin', huh?” He had noticed a collection of people over at the back of the store earlier, but he didn't think Mitchelle of all people would be one of them.
He shook his head and looked down, hiding his smile. “Naw, I just– we ain't really datin' or anything yet. It's silly.” He stammered as he talked, his tongue felt numb from biting it earlier.
“She's nicer when she ain't angry, honest.” He looks back up at Mitchelle. “She had a real good reason t'hit me, too.” His shoulders raised up to his ears as he shrank in on himself. “And Elisa's a sweet girl n' all, but... It's been a while.”
His shoulders rest and he put the cold can down to grab a notepad out, writing something down for himself to remember later and then putting it away.
Looked like a reminder for a date or something, based off an easy glance over. "Friday", it read.
“Seems like I got more than plenty on my plate anyway. And what're you doin' ear hustling, hm, Mitchie?” He smirked and teased at Mitchelle, poking her with his pen. “Ain't you meant to be somewhere like school or something?”
Changing the topic and grabbing the can back up, Soda glanced out the window. He didn't see the girls anymore, which felt both depressing and relieving.
“Y'know, I don't even know if I'd wanna start datin' either of them.” He mumbled, looking a bit ashamed as he said it. “I dunno.”

"Pony's high?" She questions, her eyebrows furrowing when she takes in the information. " 'Nd going out with Curly?" She shakes her head, and a shocked smile forms on her face. "That wasn't on my bingo card,"
"But, nah, I heard somethin' happened with y'all-- somethin' 'bout the fuzz goin' to your house, or somethin' like that. Thought it might have somethin' to do with the trial,"
She looks at the card with a small smile, giggling to herself. "They'd be pretty tuff in-laws, don'tchya think?"

Her lips press together in a thin line. "When she ain't angry, ya'know, people get angrier at people as they get to know each other," what'll happen if she keeps getting mad at you?
"I can't control you, you can do whatever you want with any girl you want, guess." She huffs, her shoulders pressing up in a (rather forced) dismissive gesture.
Then, she feels her ears getting warm as she's called out. "What else am I supposed to do when there's an argument going on? Not listen in?" She bats the pen away. "School didn't feel good today. Left after fourth period. What're they gonna do? Tell my Momma?"
She clicks her tongue, her hand making a jagged and unsure attempt at a comforting hand on his arm. "You don't gotta rush into nothin'. You just gotta keep yourself safe, 'nd all that."
"You ain't dumb, Sodapop. I trust you, 'nd your odd choice in girls. Give yourself some more time, man,"
