the asexual double edged sword is that a lot of people, particularly queer discoursers(tm) online, are really really rancid about ace people who have sex, I mean like stunningly awful, so naturally sex favorable/indifferent asexuals will be very keen on making sure that they aren't erased within their own community and that people at large know they exist. at the same time, people are also Very Bad about ace people who don't have sex, and sex averse/repulsed asexuals face a lot of pressure both on societal and interpersonal scales to submit to sex that they don't want, and so naturally it'll really rub them the wrong way to constantly have "but don't worry, ace people can still conform to the societal expectation!" appended to their PSAs about their experiences of asexuality. and so everyone's just kinda upset and annoyed all the time when instead it should be peace and love on planet ace.

I've met him in person btw and he's a fucking sweetheart
[ID: Text-intensive Twitter thread from the Shapeshifters chest binders Twitter account in reply to a post by artist and author Ursula Vernon. Vernon says, A non-zero number of you apparently did not know that The Last Unicorn was a book before it was a movie. It is by Peter S. Beagle. It is made of spun glass and fairytales and iron knives and there are individual lines that I would give my lungs to have written. Shapechangers replies, I saw him every year at NYCC for several years straight, bought something at his table, asked him to sign it, and we spoke. He remembered me from year to year, no small feat at that con. He remembered which stories he'd told me. One year I came back with a different gender on. He squinted at me a bit and said thoughtfully, "I've seen you before in this place." All I had to say was, "last year you told me the story about the inoshishi." And his face cleared, and he leaned in with a grin and told me about a German guitarist who he traveled with, twice. Who transitioned between the first and second time, so he'd gotten to meet this person all over again on the second round. It was a wonderfully kind way to let me know that everything was fine. I was fresh out of the closet and I needed that, and maybe he could see it. The Last Unicorn is the best book in the world and I will defend it and its author til I die. the end. /end ID]
I don't usually talk about celebrities; artists, when I do, and I'm keenly aware that one needn't be a good person to be a hell of a heartwrenching artist. But Peter S. Beagle has written a few of my favorite things in the world, he's an excellent singer and filker, and this Twitter thread was dreadfully important to me. I don't want it going away as Twitter becomes Shitter, because it's so often bad news, isn't it? It's important to me to share trans joy.

Dykes to Watch Out For #323 "I.D. fixe?" by Alison Bechdel
Illustrated in 1999, this strip features character Sparrow discussing being a bisexual lesbian, how she is not suddenly straight because she is dating a man, and the struggles she faces because of this. This strip also discusses the validity of gay trans men and transmasculinity, a very powerful comic for its time.

on every post about hysterectomy I keep seeing this kind of phrasing in the notes from crypto-TERF blogs
please don't let this goofy fearmongering get to you. I got a hysterectomy years ago and have had literally zero side effects.
you'll notice with this truism, people parroting it almost always phrase it exactly like this. they'll imply people who get hysterectomies must think that their bodies are only for "baby making" (rarely do they even say "pregnancy"--it's always "baby making") because they're trying to make people believe that it's only misogynist brainwashing that motivates anyone to get a hysterectomy.
you can also notice how phrasing ties it to fearmongering of other transition related care--"removing organs" (hmm wonder what this person believes about chest masculinizing mastectomy or orchiectomy or vaginoplasty...)--but without directly saying so, cause it gives the game away.
truly the first couple times I saw tags like this I thought it was coincidence, but I've seen almost identical phrasing enough times at this point (from blogs where you search "trans" and get only the most vague "support" for the abstract idea of trans people--specifically trans men-- and literally no interactions with any trans women ever) that now I'm just gonna come right out & say this pattern is established enough to be a dogwhistle.
