If Dune had been made in the 1970s like it was supposed to be, Feyd-Rautha would've worn eyeshadow.

And I just feel like we, as a fandom, were robbed.

I get the marriage to Irulan is a political thing and she might even be glad that Paul leaves her alone but I kinda feel bad for her. Irulan has be deprived of a lot of parental love and it even states clearly in the books that she's had to guard herself from her father's schemes and plots at times and avoid assassination from her own family members.

Now she expects to be Paul's wife in their political marriage and as such, the mother to his children only to be let down to understand that Chani is his true love and she'll be his exclusive partner. She might have even expected to finally find the love she's been deprived of all her life.

It just seems cruel to me that Irulan has been, in some ways, alone emotionally all her life and now is trapped in a marriage to a man who won't show her an ounce of love and perhaps hostile to her at times.

Now, since she's empress she'll have her own freedom and do whatever she wants within her power but I just feel bad for her for her loss of affection from the man she's bound to in marriage. I feel like Paul could at least be kind to her and idk, give her gifts and do something to make her a bit happy.

Who knows how Denis(the director of Dune) will write her in Dune: Messiah and I'm very curious to see how her story line goes along with Chani's change from the books as she isn't just another fanatical follower anymore but that's just what's been on my mind after three trips to the cinema.

try as they might, and they will try, they will never successfully franchise-ify dune. there's twenty four books. there's six books. four of them are good. the four good ones are good because every plotline is attached to three separate subplots all intertwined in a delicate braid. if you remove any plotline the whole thing collapses. every character has a mirror and a counterpart and a narrative foil. dune family trees look like the back of a tapestry. the final line of the first book is about how being a concubine is good actually. dune adaptations are not supposed to be marvel movie posters filled with actors you recognise, every character should be played by some unknown little freak. the longer the series goes on the more it becomes about politics and economics. about 40% of each book is internal monologue. at its core it's space wizards versus bdsm warriors on cocaine planet and trying to deny that is rank cowardice.

I love that the Dune movie made the Harkonnen thing to be bald and alien looking when the book described Feyd-Rautha as dark haired with a round face and sullen eyes and full lips, and yet the amount of people simping for movie Feyd. Like if people love him bald, imagine the power he would have if they kept his hair -

begrudgingly agree but 'Duncan Idaho' is just so funny . especially when they start mass producing them and they're all fucking called Duncan Idaho like I have had to put god emperor of dune down probably for good because it kept making me laugh . leto ii is just laying on like a wooden cart and he keeps killing Duncan Idahos it's ridiculous they're dropping left right and centre ...
