I know popular fanon is that post season 2 Jaskier stays in Kaer Morhen for a while, or else accompanies Geralt, Ciri, and Yen back on the Path as they flee, but that isn’t the canon for this blog. As much as Jaskier loves Geralt and Yen, as much as he wants to help Ciri, that isn’t where he’s most useful. In a physical fight he’s as good as useless, and he doesn’t have a lick of Chaos to help train or protect Ciri with. What he is good at, where he excels, is as a bard and eventually as a spy. 

Returning to the tavern to work as the Sandpiper is out of the question, who knows who Rience might have told about what the tavern was being used for. It’s not safe anymore. Instead Jaskier travels for a while gaining information and making connections, before returning to Oxenfurt Academy as a professor. From the university he can once again begin his work as the Sandpiper, using various parts of the Academy to hide elves before helping smuggle them away. Eventually as the war progresses he is approached by the Ridanian Secret Service, and goes back on the Path under the guise of resuming his travelling bard career, but more accurately to work as a spy. Just because he has no magic and can’t swing a sword doesn’t mean Jaskier can’t aid the war effort. Also, he isn’t the type of man to sit by why people suffer. His work is in Oxenfurt, and eventually the Path, and he won’t give it up to remain at Kaer Morhen or with Geralt, despite how much he loves him.

Season 2 J.askier really is The Moment. my man went through a messy one sided breakup, wrote an epic ballad and the hottest diss track the Continent had ever seen, and then got himself a whole new identity as a ally of the elves. he even got a new coat and hat. absolutely no one does it like him.
