I really hate to keep asking for help, but we’re in a bad spot.
My food stamp recertification was delayed last month, so I didn’t get any food stamps until this month. My partner’s recertification was denied, and they said he had to reapply and won’t be getting any benefits for this month and that decision is final. I’ve been into the office multiple times trying to fight this because they don’t answer their phone messages, which has added up in gas costs. It seems like a new supervisor was hired at DSS and they do their best to make sure no one can get benefits; this has never happened to us before.
Because of this, I’ve had to spend cash on food, and we can’t pay the electric bill this month now ($181). We are both extremely sensitive celiacs, and food is much more expensive for us than for the average person. Most “gluten-free” food is not safe for us.
We still have the horrific situation in the bathroom that I posted about earlier, because most contractors right now aren’t taking residential jobs and won’t even come give an estimate when they say they will. The contractor who schedule with us ghosted us and I can’t get back in touch with him. Only one other contractor has actually given us an estimate (two days ago), and he raised it from his initial price twice in one day and now is asking for $1035. We aren’t sure if we should trust him to do it because he’s already shown he’s untrustworthy. (If you know of a reputable contractor in the Oswego County, NY, area, please let us know.)
My partner’s (already bottom-of-the-barrel, excruciating to sleep on) bed also broke. We were extremely lucky that our neighbors were throwing away a nice mattress and box spring, but it was saturated in urine, and only a deep cleaning machine would get it out. It was cheaper for us to buy a new Rug Doctor than to rent one for the time it would have taken - I had to go over it eight times. So that and the cleaning fluid were another unexpected expense.
If you can help us out, we would greatly appreciate it. Tumblr has been extremely generous to us; we would not be alive without it.

so tired of like. "positivity" about stretch marks that ONLY focuses on "it's normal to get stretch marks on your hips or your boobs during puberty because you're growing a lot and it's normal for the skin to react" and "getting stretch marks on your belly due to pregnancy is normal!"
like, yes, all of that is true, but often the underlying implication is "it's okay to have stretch marks because having stretch marks doesn't necessarily mean you're fat!". but guess what? it's also completely okay and normal to have stretch marks due to non-puberty/pregnancy weight gain. it's okay to have stretch marks from before puberty, to have stretch marks on your belly without ever having been pregnant, to have stretch marks on your arms or somewhere else that can't be explained as due to puberty/pregnancy, it's okay to get new stretch marks after puberty without having been pregnant.
thin-curvy bodies aren't the only ones "allowed" to have stretch marks; stretch marks on fat bodies are beautiful, you don't need to have an EXCUSE for your stretch marks.

I’ve been scamming the Dominos app promotion where you take a picture of any pizza for free points. For three weeks in row, not only has their shitty camera always interpreted any photo of my cat as pizza, I always tell them it was “the worst I’ve ever had” and “made at home”.

Hey, I wanted to ask if you know any active Minnie Maud blogs? I really want to give it a try but I'm so, so scared and I thought maybe following some MM Blogs might help and motivate me.
I’m not really paying attention to the ED blog scene; @heavyweightheart is the only one I follow.

are you thinking about something that’s “wrong” with your body right now?
[it isn’t wrong! there’s a political history behind your belief that it is. but, putting that aside for now…]
note the judgment. this is a judgment, not objective truth. just a judgment, in this moment, for reasons. the judgment is not you, not the truth about you.
what is true? you’re here, in this warm body, right now. your body is coursing with life! feel it on this chair, or couch, or bed, or the weight of it on your feet. held by the floor, held by the earth. your skin is in this air, and this air is in your lungs. maybe you see light, colors, shapes; maybe you hear sounds near or far. this is what’s real.
your body is the truth, here now. the judgments will pass, and pass, and pass. your body, a part of the earth, remains.

POLICE CHECKPOINT OSWEGO, NY 8/30/19 7:40 PM
There is a police checkpoint where they’re “checking sobriety” for everyone going in or out of the city on Route 481. Border Patrol is there.
If you are undocumented, avoid this area and stay inside.

A reminder about fasting
You don’t have to fast if it will endanger your health.
If you need to eat when you take your meds, you can.
If your meds dehydrate you and you need to drink, you can.
If you have a health condition that requires you eat regularly, you can.
If you are recovering from an eating disorder and food restriction will interfere with your recovery, you don’t have to fast.
If you have no specific health condition but you are getting dehydrated or you feel faint, so can eat or drink if you need to.
Your health comes first. The Torah tells us to “live by” the commandments. Live. That means following them in ways that help us live and aren’t detrimental.

Heads up for people who need to feed themselves and their families: Tuesday, July 16, 2019, from 7am-7pm, participating IHOP restaurants will be offering 58¢ pancakes. The offer is 1) only valid at participating locations 2) limited to 1 short stack per guest. As far as I know there is not currently a list of the locations participating.
The fine print in the image reads "Dine-in only. Not valid with any other discounts or coupons. Limit 1 short stack per guest. Valid at participating restaurants only." This advertisement is via the official IHOP Facebook page
