July 31 One final beach BBQ/picnic with Katie! Tasty hamburgers made by Katie (left at home in the fridge), plates and cutlery (left at home on the counter) but Graham had the coals going... good and hot so, Mary and Katie went on a run to the Co-Op in Castlebay from Vatersay Beach to pick up hamburgers. It was an amazing night and the most memorable BBQ!

July 29 Well, it was a perfect day for power kiting! A couple of hours of being lifted off the ground and some good fresh Barra air was just what the doctor ordered. Katie was amazing! Mary had packed a picnic with tea and sweet buns. Now that's a beach visit to remember 鉂わ笍

July 28 (continued) The plane had technical problems so it was 40 minutes late leaving Inverness. Therefore, we were 40 minutes late leaving Stornoway. When we finally arrived in Benbecula, Archie was waiting as well as the taxi driver who I had arranged to pick me up at the airport. The only problem was, he was an hour early. He had another run to make so we arranged for him to come back in an hour. Archie had overheard a fellow asking about buses down to Eriskay as he was trying to get back to Barra (there are none... that's why I had arranged for a taxi). Archie suggested that I ask him if he wanted to share my taxi. I thought he looked familiar. Turns out that he was Mary and Graham's gardener last year before he left to take this new job laying cable for the wind turbines! Small world, isn't it? Archie, Iain and I had coffee and Sandy, the taxi driver, came back an hour later. It was a short visit with Archie but so nice to meet up again at least for a coffee. We headed down to Eriskay to catch the last ferry. It had had technical problems the night before and hadn't gotten back on schedule until the early afternoon. Luckily, we got back to Barra without further incident... except even more rain! It was definitely a week of intense rain...

July 28 (continued) Well, it was Friday before we knew it... the week has just flown by. Janis got me to the airport in Stornoway so that I could begin the first leg of my journey back to Barra (plane to Benbecula, taxi to Eriskay and ferry to Ardmhor). Thank you, Janis, for an absolutely amazing week experiencing Lewis and Harris. It was such a great time being able to meet you after so many months on the phone. "See" you online in September! 馃榾
