Time’s essence in quantum mechanics lies in its capacity to govern the interplay between the potential and the actual. It is not reducible to a simple numerical sequence, as the intrinsic uncertainties of quantum systems resist full determination or precise calculation. Just as the wave function’s evolution dispenses the possibilities for a particle’s appearance, the collapse process withdraws from calculability, leaving a trace of this transition in the observed outcome. Thus, the essence of time in quantum mechanics, much like in the Greek sense, is both a letting-appear and a withdrawal, beyond the grasp of numerical precision or deterministic prediction.
