I feel like a good shorthand for a lot of economics arguments is "if you want people to work minimum wage jobs in your city, you need to allow minimum wage apartments for them to live in."

"These jobs are just for teenagers on the weekends." Okay, so you'll use minimum wage services only on the weekends and after school. No McDonald's or Starbucks on your lunch break.

"They can get a roommate." For a one bedroom? A roommate for a one bedroom? Or a studio? Do you have a roommate to get a middle-wage apartment for your middle-wage job? No? Why should they?

"They can live farther from city center and just commute." Are there ways for them to commute that don't equate to that rent? Living in an outer borough might work in NYC, where public transport is a flat rate, but a city in Texas requires a car. Does the money saved in rent equal the money spent on the car loan, the insurance, the gas? Remember, if you want people to take the bus or a bike, the bus needs to be reliable and the bike lanes survivable.

If you want minimum wage workers to be around for you to rely on, then those minimum wage workers need a place to stay.

You either raise the minimum wage, or you drop the rent. There's only so long you can keep rents high and wages low before your workforce leaves for cheaper pastures.

"Nobody wants to work anymore" doesn't hold water if the reason nobody applies is because the commute is impossible at the wage you provide.

anyway if u wanna know what’s going on on tiktok rn, it’s “gnomes vs knights” where everyone uses the same sound (that’s how tiktok memes/trends work) and they’re either pretending to be knights setting tiny traps for unsuspecting gnomes or tiny gnomes avoiding or falling into said traps. ppl are making videos in full suits of armor for the knights but i’m entranced by the gnomes encountering traps

I'll be honest, I'm really excited to continue the campaign! So far it's been a ton of fun, and I can't wait to see what my players will do throughout it, and where it'll lead them-

Creation myth for a dnd campaign I'm dming for.

Long ago, before time, there was nothing. An empty void, that would drive any who looked into it to madness. For there was truly nothing, as much an absence as there was a presence. And suddenly, there was something. Light pierced the nothing, and the nothing became darkness. Something walked through the darkness, holding a construct that seemed to be the source of the light. The bronze torch’s burden. The first, and the eternal. The beginning of beginnings. Tosach, the ethereal. The eternal. The dreaming world’s Wish. And with Tosach was brought their mirror and reflection, the End. Críoch. The silver lantern’s light. The diaphanous. The waking world’s want. As much the Moon’s silver glow as the wind’s gentle blow. One and the same as their sibling, and yet equal and opposite they remain. Together, they created all things.

(Note: Tosach and Críoch are literally just Beginning and End in Irish.)

Applying for jobs is a hell designed specifically to torment autistic people. Here is a well-paying task which you know in your heart and soul if they just gave you a desk and left you alone and allowed you to do it you would sit there and be more focused and enthusiastic and excellent at it than anyone else in the building. However, before they allow you to perform the task, you must pass through 3-4 opaque social crucibles where you must wear uncomfortable clothes and make eye contact while everyone expects you to lie, but not too much (no one is ever clear exactly how much lying is expected, “over” honesty is however penalized). You are being judged almost entirely on how well you understand these very specific and unclear rules that no one has explained. None of this has anything to do with your ability to perform the desired task.
