As soon as Monika pulls up to the Oasis to pick up Caretaker for a fathers day dinner, she heard a strange noise. She figured out pretty quickly that it was the sound of yelling, she is quite used to walking in when someone lost their money. This time, though, it gave her a nagging feeling in the pit of her stomach. She hauled her motorcycle upright, pushing down the kickstand before rushing in. When she entered the building, she recognized the voice of her brother and his partner.

Usually, the bouncer would block her from entering before she showed ID. As she reached in her pockets for her license, the bouncer stepped aside, recognizing her and tilting his head to let her in. This caused the sinking feeling in her gut to intensify, the bouncer never just let her in before, even when he greets her by name.

She rushes up the stairs, the voices becoming clearer as she realized they were arguing.

"Why are you so-... so upset about something like this?" "Quit blubbering, your inadequate emotional control does not a good guardian make."

"Bitte... I tried all I could"

Monika rushed to the back room, knowing that's where her brother and his partner spent their time in the Oasis. As her hand reached for the door, the arguing got louder.

"You CLEARLY didn't do enough! An adequately raised child would not have these issues. Any kind of problem should not be excused, it should be DEALT WITH. YOU FAILED HER."

"I DID THE BEST I COULD! IS THAT NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU?"

Monika quickly opened the door, spotting Caretaker and his partner, Mr.Qi arguing. Caretaker is near tears, Qi looks as condescending as always. Before she could say anything, Qi puts in one last jab.

"It's not enough to half ass your job. You could've done much better in many areas. 부족함은 축하할 가치가 없습니다."

Before Caretaker could even process what Qi said, Monika rushed in, gently taking his hand.

"We will be leaving now, we have a reservation." Monika quickly mentioned before leading Caretaker out of the room. She rushed him outside before he broke down into tears. He hid his face in his hands as he trembled outside of the Oasis. She squeezed his hand and stood in front of him, making sure his eyes were on her.

"Hey, are you okay?" Monika spoke unusually gently, looking up at him with worry.

"W-we just had a little argument... n-no worries, it's normal in a relationship..." Caretaker muttered, trying to put up a strong front for Monika.

Monika's brow furrowed as she responded. "Bubba... couples do have arguments... but you and I both know that what he said was not cool, at all." She squeezed his hand softly. "... do you need a moment before dinner?"

Caretaker wiped some tears from his eyes. "I... I know we have a reservation... l-lets just go..."

Monika shook her head. "No, you don't have to rush things along because of a plan. we can take as long of a breather that you need. we can pick something else up on the way home..." She slowly wrapped her arms around him in a hug.

Caretaker looked at Monika, a soft smile spreading on his face. He knows he messed up with her, but seeing her be so... caring... so empathetic... he wonders just how well he really did with her. "W-we can do that..." He gently returned her hug before sitting down against the outside of the Oasis. Monika doesn't hesitate to sit right next to him. They sit down together, watching the desert sun setting as he began to calm down.

"Okay... I feel a bit better... lets go home." Caretaker nodded to Monika. They both got up and headed to her motorcycle, Monika hopping on first before Caretaker climbing in.

"So, what do you want to eat?" Monika asked, looking back at Caretaker. He thought for a few seconds before responding.

"We can eat at the Stardrop Saloon. Gus is a much better cook than you are" Caretaker teased, causing Monika to laugh.

"I second that. We can go to the saloon and eat." Monika smiled before kicking back the kickstand and turning on her motorcycle. After a few startup revs, the duo sped off into the night, heading for the Stardrop Saloon.
