YoRHa Boy Stage Play 1.0  - Story Experience

Birds singing in the midst of silence. A desolate horizon floating in cloudy air spreading in their eyes.  The voices of androids engraved in memory starts to echoes.

“This is Operator 6O, Can you hear me 2B?”

A scene between 6O and 2B that connects 2 “certain moments” in NieR Automata starts to play. The interaction between the two which seems to be a little comical fills the theater with laughter. 

The story took place three years back from NieR Automata. A new story depicting the beginning and the end of the YoRHa Experimental Unit M (Male YoRHa test unit). M units consists of several YoRHa unit such as No. 1, No. 4, No. 4, No. 6, No. 6, No. 9, and No. 21. Each unit had different personalities. Unlike the normal YoRHa units, M units allowed to have their emotions for experimental purpose.

In the school like environment, they socialize together, train together and fight together. But as the time flies they starts to doubts themselves as they fights the Machine Lifeforms. They seem to be giving up some of the happiness with the war, yet they continue to struggle with their meaningless action.

“Hey you see.. we want to take the Earth back. But what the Earth actually is? What kind of Earth we want regain?”

You got to see the most part of the act from No.9′s point of view. No.9 is a prototype of 9S from NieR Automata. He discovers that even though YoRHa units are mechanical units that bounded and disciplined by rules, their value could change drastically if they lost their discipline. They’ll do whatever it takes to satisfy their desire, even killing their own mates.

He identify that there is a logic virus called “The Savage Mind” prepared to eradicate them. It activates their logical thinking to the extreme in order to find a way for them to uncover the truth of this world, even with barbaric and immature ways. Originally they think to live in the right way for himself. However, in order to realize the right way for himself, he chose a more rational way with his own mind. It awakens their ego.

In NieR Automata No.9 has evolved and finally realize the truth. But what is actually happening between the time of Units M prototype experiment and NieR Automata? Experience the amazing story and drama on YoRHa Boy Stageplay 1.0.

Square Enix President Wants a NieR Spin-Off With Popola & Devola as Main Characters, Also Possibilities of Drama CD / Live Action Movies?

GameStart 2017 at Singapore last week was the final NieR Automata promotion event that Yoko Taro (Director of NieR Automata) and Yosuke Saito (Producer of NieR Automata) attended. But it doesn’t mean that the development team’s work is over. Yesterday on an interview, Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito gave some information about their next work.

When asked about “NieR Automata Sequel”, Yoko Taro always answered “I’ll do it if you give me money”. But to strengthen his stance, Yoko said that even though he will do it if he gets the money, there is a characteristic that you cannot do it unless you are told at the beginning. For example, if they asked you to “make an RPG”. Then you make an RPG with a rat as main characters, but then the they protest and said “Rats are useless”. So why they didn’t say it at the beginning?. If you don’t say it at the beginning, then you can’t control the further development.

After hearing Yoko’s speech about “main characters” Saito said that actually they had a lunch with Yosuke Matsuda (Square Enix President and CEO) lately. Yosuke Matsuda asked them “Will you do a NieR Spin-Off with Popola & Devola as Main Characters?”. Yoko Taro answered “I will do it!” with a smile in his face. Even though it had a small chance to be realized as full game, there have been a talk about making it as DLC or Drama CD.

Saito actually doesn’t really like the concept of DLC because it’s like you took away “some fun” of the game and release it with additional prices. In the end players can’t enjoy the game 100% if they don’t buy the DLC. He wants to keep DLC of his games at a minimum.

About the Drama CD, actually Yoko Taro already wrote a 120 minutes worth of movie length of story. Yoko Taro joked that it would’ve been great if there’s a NieR Automata live action movie instead.

SINoALICE X NieR Automata is Coming on Late August

The collaboration features a special NieR Automata scenario written by Yoko Taro. NieR Automata OST that composed by Keiichi Okabe and MONACA will also appear on this event.

NieR Automata characters such as, “2B”, “A2”, “9S”, “Beauvoir” etc. will appear on this event. The scenario is also voiced by their original VA. Weapons that appeared in “NieR: Automata” will also appear in this event with their weapon story.
