so it has been over a year since i posted to this blog but it is finally moth season again here so hopefully i’ll remember to post!
this little guy woke my mum up by flying into her face so of course i was called on to remove it :3
it involved moving a fair amount of furniture but finally from behind a sock drawer he emerged
after taking some pictures i brought him outside, and after he wouldn’t get out of the glass i nudged him onto my hand!
he sat there for a while and vibrated his wings, which moths do to warm up their flight muscles, and then he took off into the night (and promptly smacked into the porch light- but he’s fine i promise)
it took a while to figure out for some reason but this little guy is a copper underwing moth! pretty common over here but cute nonetheless :)
it’s actually been a while since i saw this moth but i’ve been very forgetful!
anyway i have been doing some work at my grandparents’ house and they have this lovely honeysuckle bush which is apparently a favourite of the hummingbird hawk moth!
they move so so fast that they’re really difficult to photograph so live photos it is!
Ok. Megalopyge crispata is definitly my favourite moth now. I mean LOOK at those luscious waves... bunny ears... gucci fur vest and false lashes? He is STYLE.
I want to go out into the woods at night and catch toads and frogs and snakes with someone and laugh under the moonlight as we appreciate her light and all of mother nature’s creations, and when it’s four am reluctantly part with a kiss and a laugh.
