As a writer with quite a few books (in different genres) behind me now, I feel like I can finally say this with confidence: do not put too much stock into the idea of “if you’re bored writing it, the reader will be bored reading it.”
Some of the scenes I have been most bored with while writing have been reader favourites. The writer’s boredom could come from external factors (you have low blood sugar, you’re tired, burned-out, depressed, etc) or that you are bored with this scene because it’s not your favourite part of the book. Or because you know what’s going to happen and wish you could race through it. Also, being a full time author, I know that writing is just a slog like any job at times and that can make it boring.
Please don’t scrap a chapter just because you are bored writing it. It might still be a great chapter!

reminders for writers.
nobody gives a crap if something is overdone in fiction. what they really care about is the execution
having a bad day of writing does not make you a bad writer
tropes ≠ clichés. if someone tells you it's wrong to use tropes, disregard the advice
writing in your second or third language isn’t always easy. you’re doing great
writing advice = tools. not rules. you’re not meant to follow every advice you read about on the internet. learn the rules so you know which ones to break
every writer is capable of writing a captivating story, but your story might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s ok. there will still be people out there who’ll adore it
it’s ok to not excel at every genre! you can write things because you think it’s fun, doesn’t always have to be a matter of writing something because you’re good at it. it’s ok to explore (and it helps you improve as a writer!)

shout out to the literal fan fiction happening a few blocks from my apartment. there has been this halal meat market on the corner for like 19 years that the owner’s son just inherited and directly across the street this woman opened a kosher grocery store and since day one they’ve had this very friendly fake rivalry, playing it up for the customers, it’s always been super goofy and light hearted. so turns out last night she proposed in the middle of the afternoon rush in the meat market and he said YES and she’s moving her store to the adjacent empty storefront on the left so they can have a JOINT GROCERY STORE it is so fucking cute I wish them the happiest marriage ever

If I live to be a hundred and read The Hobbit every year, I’ll still get emotional every time I get to Bilbo saying tea’s at four but the dwarves are welcome any time. It’s such a good summary of his character arc, that he will forever be the hobbit who wants to be home to have tea every day at four o'clock sharp, but now he’s also okay with unexpected parties, with strange friends from strange lands, with going without cake because it’s worth it sometimes (for more reasons than just politeness!), with occasionally doing without tea altogether to talk a walk to see the elves

The ampersand used to be the 27th letter of the alphabet. To avoid confusion with the word ‘and’, people added ‘per se’ before its name when reciting the alphabet so that it ended: X, Y, Z, and per se &. Over time, the ‘and per se and’ ran together, and the term 'ampersand’ was born.
