A Long And Difficult Battle Was Won! - We Have The Chinese Scans!
Good morning, everyone! I come with very very good news. After a long battle(namely @toichinagae's hard drive giving out on them and losing half of the scans, then another of their computers dying, and the repair place taking a long time to get back to them... etc.) our arsenal of YASHA editions has just grown!
We now have English, Japanese, Turkish, and Chinese scans in our archive!
A note on these scans, they are noticeably of lesser quality than our English and Japanese scans.
Tumblr media
I'm not sure if this is an issue with the Chinese editions themselves(I'd have to own a set of them myself to figure that out, and that's a pipe dream at the moment lol), or if whoever scanned these editions did so with a less-than-stellar scanner. But either way, we finally have them!
Sorry for the radio silence, we promise that there's exciting things to come! Thank you for your support!

We're alive! Sorry!
Hello everyone, deepest, deepest apologies for the radio silence as of late, both I and Prin's lives have been quite busy! Not to get that much into it, but I somewhat-recently moved into a new place, and I have been busy with getting stable since, so I haven't had much time nor motivation to work on the archive or on YASHA research in general. Prin also had some computer issues, and lost quite a few volumes of the Chinese translation, which they are currently re-downloading by hand. Indonesian scans have yet to be found, still.
There have been some breakthroughs(mostly found by Prin @toichinagae, I'm quite rusty with research and haven't found much lol), but we don't know enough about them quite yet for me to write a post about them. Please stay tuned for the future!

Slow Goings, But Still Working Hard
Since it's been about a month since I last updated this blog, I thought I'd make a short post showing where we're at in the archival process.
I am still attempting to find Indonesian scans. Nobody has reached out to me about the Indonesian translation since I made the previous post, and as far as I'm aware we have yet to start downloading the French translation. I still have hope that we will find scans of the Indonesian translation, but if need be, we will create some ourselves.
Prin is very close to finishing renaming and converting the Chinese scans, and it's very likely that they will be added to the archive in the coming days, at the latest.
Prin has also sourced a translator, and the cd drama is being worked on. I can't give more details than that at the moment, but stay tuned. ;)
They've also told me that they have a lot in store when it comes to YASHA features in magazines, so keep an eye on @toichinagae, too!

The YASHA CD Drama, Stage 2; Much Of The Same
Click here to see the post for Stage 1
We believe that the second CD in the YASHA CD drama covers volumes 4-7, though without a translation we cannot be entirely sure. It contains much of the same content that Stage 1 does, with a similar cast list(though this one is a bit shorter). It was released on June 23rd, 2000, and produced by Pioneer LDC(now known as NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan.)
This CD's screenplay was once again written by Asami Watanabe, and I can assume that Nobuo Ito worked on the music of this one as well, but there is no specific credit to them on the back, to my knowledge.
The cast list, sent to me by @toichinagae, is as follows;
(Others* Note Kwan Lu-Mei is voiced by Yoshida Sayuri.)
Just like with Stage 1, if you wish to listen to the tracks, then please feel free to check this google drive link out.
If you are a jp-eng translator and are interested in translating these CDs, feel free to contact me on discord(@//radspeon without the //) or on my business email, [email protected].

The YASHA CD Drama, Stage 1; A Long-Awaited Arrival To Our Arsenal
The first thing my beloved collaborator, @toichinagae, told me about when they reached out to me was the existence of the YASHA CD drama. I was very intrigued, as I'd never heard of it before. I knew of the TV drama, in fact I'd archived it a month or so beforehand, but I never knew that there was a CD drama that not only followed the manga more closely, but also featured some anime voice actors that I NEVER would've expected to work on it!
There are two CDs, this post will be focusing on the first one, referred to as "Stage One." This CD was released on March 24th, 2000, and produced by Pioneer LDC(Currently known as NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan.). This drama's screenplay was written by Asami Watanabe(I could not find any information about them online, it seems there is a key animator by the same name, I am unsure as to if they are the same person.), with music by Nobuo Ito.(Once more, there is very little information about them online.)
The cast list, as sent to me by @toichinagae via email, is as follows(I added some notes on notable characters each voice actor has played, just because I find it interesting.):
有末 静:石川 英郎   Arisue Sei: Hideo Ishikawa(You may know him from Doukyuusei, where he played Hara-sen.) 雨宮 :辻谷 耕史  Amamiya Rin: Koji Tsujitani 有末 比佐子: 井上 喜久子 Hisako Arisue: Kikuko Inoue(You may know her from Kiki's Delivery Service, wherein she played Maki.) 雨宮 協一郎:梁田 清之  Kyoichiro Amamiya: Kiyoyuki Yanada(You may know him from Perfect Blue, wherein he played Kantoku 永江 茂市:松本 保典 Nagae Moichi: Matsumoto Yasunori(You may know him from Sk8 the Infinity, wherein he played Joe.) 永江  十市: 野島 健児 Toichi Nagae: Kenji Nojima(You may know him from Banana Fish, he voiced Eiji.) 三上 尊:子安 武人 Takeru Mikami: Takehito Koyasu(You probably know him from somewhere, I personally know him from Jojo's Bizzare Adventure as DIO, and Adam from Sk8 the Infinity.) ケン・クロサキ: 古澤 徹 Ken Kurosaki: Toru Furusawa(You may know him from the '98 Trigun anime, wherein he played Millions Knives.) ライアン博士 池田 勝  Dr. Ryan: Masaru Ikeda ホッジス少佐:中 博史 Major Hodges: Hiroshi Naka(You may know him from Cowboy Bebop, where he plays Jobim.) 伊東 泰之:飛田 展男 Yasuyuki Ito: Nobuo Tobita (Unclear on who exactly this character is. This va was in Darling In The Franxx, but I don't think he had a notable role there.) 有末 静 (12才): 山田 美穂 Sei Arisue (12 years old): Miho Yamada(..She seems to have done work for a number of projects that are not appropriate for this blog. More power to her.) (*Note Toichi's voice at 12 years old is currently unknown.)
These CDs are currently untranslated, but you can find the .wav files for both in this drive folder.
I intend on creating youtube uploads for each track, for ease of use to potential translators and general accessibility for people who's devices cannot run .wav's(..if any exist lol.)
More to come soon!!

ANIMERICA EXTRA - December 2003 Issue YASHA Feature!
There were many other YASHA features during the short runtime of the ANIMERICA EXTRA Magazine Viz Media had published, and I hope to post them when I am able! This post will be updated later with links to the original sources I had gotten these images from once I have properly archived them. For now— here is a transcription below the image!

YASHA
A look at Japan's most popular manga…
YASHA is arguably Akimi Yoshida's most popular series after BANANA FISH. Although it possesses all the complexity, intrigue, and good looks of its predecessor, YASHA's setting, context and lead character are completely different. While both leads have tragic pasts, Sei is no punk from urban America's backstreets—he's a privileged wunderkind working at a fancy biotech company in affluent suburbia.
A blond boy getting an MRl is treated kindly by the doctor. The boy is Sei, and his mother tells him not to leave the hospital alone or talk to strangers while she consults with the doctor. "We're poor." Sei scoffs, "No one would kidnap me." For as long as he can remember, Sei and his mom traveled to this Tokyo hospital for an exam every six months.
Back in Okinawa, Sei's best friend is Toichi Nagae. Unfortunately for the boys, Toichi's brother has been accepted into a Tokyo college, and the family will be moving there soon. Maybe it won't so bad—Sei can visit his uncle there, and the boys can finally go to Disneyland together!
Before the Nagaes leave, they attend their town's summer festival. The fun is cut short when the boys return to Sei's home to find his mother being held captive by men in suits and sunglasses. Sei allows the men to take him if they'll let Toichi go. In a desperate attempt to free her son, Sei's mother grabs a thug's gun and aims at the man in charge. She's shot down in front of Sei's eyes. The fleeing Toichi finds his brother and drags him back to Sei's house, but by then, It's a desserted mess. Only they observe the huge helicopter leaving the island; only they know Sei has been kidnapped.
Six years later. Sei has survived grad school without getting tainted by its posturing and politics. There's an opening for a virus specialist in Japan, and Sei's mentor at Neo Genesis suggests, despite the danger of going back, perhaps Sei should return to Japan while he has the chance.
In the meantime. Toichi has become a fairly normal high-school senior living with his brother who always works late at his lab. Naturally, It's the same lab as the one where Sei's going to work! Soon Sei and Toichi are reunited, but the situation in far from normal. First there's Sei's pair of bodyguards. Then thugs hired by Neo Genesis' rival attack the clinic Sei's uncle manages. Sei's cool look and attitude are also different, and his uncanny senses as a child have been honed to ultra-human capacities. Plus, people keep mistaking Sei for a guy named Rin and a woman named Shizuka!
It turns out Rin is Sei's previously unknown twin brother, and their meeting is a strange one. Initially emotionless, Rin suddenly turns on the charm, acting like a long-lost sibling happy to see his big brother. From the start, Toichi doesn't trust Rin, making it difficult to talk to Sei about him. That Rin's last name is the same as that of the man who kidnapped Sei all those years ago further complicates the situation.
"Yasha" means "female demon." Along the way to discovering the title's connection to the story, there's plenty of action, emotion and intrigue. Sei's tangled personal life meshes together with a scheme by powerful men to develop a deadly virus, all plot elements combine to create a highly engaging series. If you like complex stories with plenty of appealing guys, try YASHA, Sei makes being smart cool.

Collaborator Announcement!
Recently(aka, on August 23rd, 2023) somebody reached out to me to assist me in this project! Since then, they have helped me find Chinese and French scans of YASHA, spent their own time and money to rip the YASHA audio drama CDs(as well as potentially higher-quality rips of the TV drama, more info on that to come.), and showed me many pieces of YASHA merchandise that I never knew existed(like the coveted YASHA hand towels).
They decided to make a new blog, and to put a face to this immensely helpful collaborator, I'd like to introduce you to @toichinagae! I promise that they didn't choose toichi because of me LOL.
They have been essential to this project, and I'm forever grateful for them because without them, I doubt this project would have gotten as far as it has on my own(admittedly, lackluster,) merits.
Send them some love!

Admin Introduction!
Hello! I'm Prin. I use They/Them & He/Him pronouns, but any work! I've dedicated quite an unprecedented amount of time to this series as a whole and have been silently lurking in the fandom for a few years, so I'm excited to find other people who also enjoy it! This is the sister blog— (Or, well, brother blog lol.) To @moichinagae ! He's been working diligently on archiving and setting up a community resource for YASHA! My goal is to be able to contribute. I also do art from time to time, and other miscellaneous things when they cross my mind :) I haven't ran a blog for years— I hope you can be patient with me! If you want to contact me, please do! You can send in an ask or feel free to message me anytime.

A Wild... Turkish Fan Translation Appeared?
Yeah I'm surprised too. While browsing around for some Indonesian scans(please email me if you know where I can find some) I came across a Turkish fan translation created by the Turkish translation group FratelloFansub. Strangely, the Yasha translation does not have a listing on their manga section, I had to dig around their Twitter to find it. I downloaded these pages from dogemanga.com, be wary of that site though because I cannot confirm it's trustworthiness.
This translation is incomplete, with only seven of the twelve volumes being translated. Nonetheless, I have compiled and uploaded them to the Yasha archive.
I do not know the accuracy of this translation, it may be absolutely terrible, but an archive is indiscriminate.

The YASHA Manga Archive Now Has Japanese Scans!
Extra! Extra! We now have raws of our beloved series in the archives! To give credit where it is due, I found these scans on an Aarinfantasy forum thread from 2006-2012, and I certainly wouldn't have found these scans without their unknowing diligence. Surely I would have found some scans somewhere, but it would've taken much longer surely.
I have linked the YASHA archive above, which now contains TWO folders of the series!
Happy reading(or even.. translating? (◎ ◎) contact me if you are thinking of creating a new fan translation, I would love to hear about it!)
A note on the raws under the cut
These raws seem to be lower contrast than the English scanlation by Megchan's Scanlations(featuring someone named 'Molly,' who I am unsure on the identity of.); I've compared the same panel from volume one of our favorite mom, Hisako.
Tumblr media
These scans, as indicated by the Mediafire link where I found them, are only about three months older than the beginning of Megchan's translation. I hypothesize that perhaps these raws were used for Megchan's scanlation and she just upped the contrast to better fit with the font, but I cannot confirm this and please take it with the biggest grain of salt possible.

The YASHA Proboards Fan Forum!
This forum was actually created long before I created this blog, but today I have spent a little bit actually getting it up and running.
This forum, while slightly unfinished(there are Eve No Nemuri boards, but I will be making them public later, as I have not read ENN completely yet, and wish to do my due diligence on it before I make the rules.), is my best effort to create a 'centralized' fandom community! I will be creating other resources soon(such as a discord server), but I feel that this is a good starting point.
