Writing advice from my uni teachers:

If your dialog feels flat, rewrite the scene pretending the characters cannot at any cost say exactly what they mean. No one says “I’m mad” but they can say it in 100 other ways.

Wrote a chapter but you dislike it? Rewrite it again from memory. That way you’re only remembering the main parts and can fill in extra details. My teacher who was a playwright literally writes every single script twice because of this.

Don’t overuse metaphors, or they lose their potency. Limit yourself.

Before you write your novel, write a page of anything from your characters POV so you can get their voice right. Do this for every main character introduced.

Oh, the sweet sweet validation of KH MoM predictions coming true. It was obvious since the secret ending of KH3 riku was destined to rescue sora but y’all wanted to deny.

Don’t like venting on main but that pandemic special was probably one of the worst South Park eps ived watched, and here’s my major reason why.

The entire ep felt like there was no consistency or any linear narrative for us the audience to get attach to and watch it develop fluidly. It was just a combination of events that happened irl (police brutality, bats, China, cancelled schools) without it actually being attached to a larger narrative. Yet somehow the episode frames it as “we’ve acknowledged it, so it means we’ ve discussed it wink wink.” Ultimately there was no conclusion to any of the plotlines it created.

The characters were all framed to push the “story” as supposed to the story pushing the characters to their next actions. This type of framing is something I’ve always complained about regarding family guy, and praised SP for being character driven over dramatics in previous seasons. Clearly this episode begged me to differ.

Overall, I came out fo this episode dissatisfied and empty. Who knows if SP would ever go back to character driven plots. I’m not having hope for this next season.
