I went to the clinic the other day and they put my patient wristband on my left arm. I removed it four hours later, but my wrist was already feeling naked. I cleaned my room, and found the only wristband I own. It's on my left wrist. It's the same color.

Too many butts on one tumbler, too much love and life on the other.
There really aren't too many of either of those things, but I'm bad at jumping back and forth.

Amber Suggests Lyme Disease is Older than Humans Lyme disease is a stealthy, often misdiagnosed disease that was only recognized about 40 years ago, but new discoveries of ticks fossilized in amber show that the bacteria which cause it may have been lurking around for 15 million years – long before any humans walked on Earth. The findings were made by researchers from Oregon State Univ., who studied 15-20 million-year-old amber from the Dominican Republic that offer the oldest fossil evidence ever found of Borrelia, a type of spirochete-like bacteria that to this day causes Lyme disease. HISTORY MEME - six women: ka’iulani [7/6]
Victoria Kaʻiulani Kalaninuiahilapalapa Kawekiu i Lunalilo Cleghorn was born on October 16, 1875 and was heir to the Throne of Hawaii, holding the title of Crown Princess. She was descended from High Chief Kepoʻokalani through her mother, who was the sister of King Kalākaua and Queen Liliʻuokalani. Her father was a Scottish financier and the last Royal Governor of O’ahu. At age 13 she was sent to England to receive an education, and excelled in Latin, Literature, Mathematics, History, French, and German. In 1893, while she was still in England, the Hawaiian monarchy was overthrown and the new government attempted to become part of the United States. She decided to take action, despite being reluctant to participate in politics, and travelled to America, where she made many speeches and public appearances. She was treated with contempt by the American pro-annexation press, which referred to her as a “half-breed,” though she did not receive the blatantly racist treatment that her aunt did. President Cleveland expressed an interest in the situation in Hawaii after meeting Ka’iulani, and though the annexation did not move forward in Congress, the Monarchy was still not restored. In 1897, she finally returned to Hawaii, where she continued to make public appearances despite her worsening health. In 1898, Hawaii was finally annexed to the United States. During the annexation ceremony, the Royal Family dressed in funeral attire to protest the transaction. That same year, Ka’iulani was caught in a storm while out horse riding and came down with a fever and pneumonia. She died on March 6, 1899, at the age of 23. (x)
