i've been reading whipping girl and i just think... it's so wild that radical feminists don't see the value that trans people and especially trans women bring to the feminist movement. it seems like half of them think that gender/sex should be sorted into two rigid, non-overlapping categories (which upholds the underlying structure of a society that is deeply prejudiced against women, aka oppositional sexism) and the other half think that gender is a fake concept (real) and we should abolish the social standards of gender but physical sex is real and immutable and therefore trans women are harming their movement by associating physical sex with the social construct of gender (operating within the society they live in unfortunately). much to think about

capitalists are actual dumbasses because I cannot think of a single thing that would generate more profit than a high speed rail line from los angeles to las vegas. imagine if instead of driving 4.5 hours through the dangerous and scorching hot desert of death valley you could just take a 90-minute rail line from hollywood to the strip. people would just go gamble after work or on their day off, and because they wouldn't have to pay for an extremely expensive hotel stay, they would spend more money gambling, which is basically pure profit unlike the extremely cost-intensive hotel business. the casinos would get so much more money from this investment but they will never fund it because capitalists cannot conceive of doing ANYTHING that doesn't result in immediate short-term gain. the fact that they only plan one quarter ahead at best holds them back so much and they don't even care how stupid and unsustainable that is because that's simply what the market demands! but this is "the best economic system in the world" somehow lmao
