Broken Things
You don’t really realize how often things break or need to be maintained until you are 24, broke, and pregnant.
It’s ridiculous how much money goes into fixing things and i’m not sure if companies do this on purpose or just fail at making things that last. This never really bothered me before, but since I am almost 7 months pregnant, I want to do everything and fix everything now, while I can move and breathe and function like a human being. I am also partly nesting, and you can’t properly nest when your overpriced vacuum breaks down. I guess this is good for Dyson’s customer service team and the businesses they work with to have your vacuum inspected for repair to see what is wrong with it in the first place... but it’s not good for a nesting pregnant woman.
All because of my vacuum breaking, I can’t stop questioning society and life in general. Who knew such a small crisis could lead to something so much larger? I mean every year I have to pay my car registration and every six months I need to have my oil changed and now it’s time for a new air filter and my refrigerator has been making a strange humming/drilling sound for the last 4 days that I really don’t want to confront. And then of course my husband’s car registration is due, his brake pads and rotors need to be replaced, his windshield is cracked and my dog needs her 3-year parvo vaccine. Why do all of these things happen at the same time? Life is literally out to get me.
The maintenance continues with everyday things you have to do. Laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning more things(like yourself)... Life is just so much work already but we still follow these unrealistic, unspoken regulations where everything must always be clean and perfect.
I’m not sure who even created these unspoken rules to follow. It’s 2017- we only have time to binge watch Netflix and watch deals on Amazon for Prime Days. Cleaning and functioning as actual human beings isn’t even that important anymore. Right?
I don’t know where i’m going with this, I just want my vacuum to be alive and well so I can clean my apartment and nest so I can stop buying things on Amazon because I really need to save my money to fix everything that is breaking in my life.

Pregnancy In America
Thousands upon thousands of babies are born everyday and yet America is totally in denial of what this actually means. Once these babies are born, mothers are given 60 days of unpaid maternity leave (paid depending on state) before they have to go back to work; however, childcare is so expensive many mothers are pretty much out of jobs. If women have been producing children since the beginning of time, shouldn’t we be allowed to have paid maternity leave in all 50 states and affordable childcare? No, America has to capitalize on us.
Not only do we have to pay a ridiculous amount of money on childcare but we also have to pay several fees to find an OBGYN to deliver your baby, on top of all of the medical costs even though you have health insurance. Health insurance is pretty much just a glorified discount.
With all of this combined, what really ticks me off the most is the fact that maternity clothes are nearly impossible to find. In my well populated city, there is only one store to find maternity clothes, and of course they are expensive. All maternity collections have been removed from nearly all department stores and transitioned online. Are people aware that pregnant women’s bodies change frequently? My rib cage has expanded 4 inches and the rest of me remains a mystery. So, how am I supposed to know what size clothes will fit me without trying them on? I’m not about to spend $5 on shipping and wait 5-7 business days to receive something I needed yesterday to find out it doesn’t even fit me.
To top this off, while searching maternity clothes, only about 40% of the models are pregnant! Of course these clothes are going to look great on them, they don’t have a child growing inside of their uterus...
This rant originated because I am 26 weeks pregnant, it is 80-something degrees outside at 8:30pm and I don’t have any pajamas to wear. Naturally, I go online to look for “affordable” maternity/nursing pajamas  and they are all $40+ being modeled by 100 pound women.
Get your shit together America; Women create babies. We always have and always will.
