Updates related to IPL auction 2021
Earlier it was decided not to hold a major auction until the 2021 season because Covid-19 is still popular throughout India. Moreover, the 2022 version will add two new teams. Hence, the IPL 2021 auction was a small one like it was last season.
There are more than 250 players listed in the auction. All teams are advised to use 75% of their value. The auction was not a big one and the grand one will only be held during the next season. Getting the chance to play in a multitude of tournaments is not easy. Trading at IPL requires consistent performance to maintain a position on the team.
K. Jamieson and Maxwell were bought by the Team Kohli, while K. Gotham and England cricketer M, Ali were sold to team Dhoni. Shah Rukh Khan, a fierce young hitter, was bought by Punjab Kings. All of them are in the top position at auction.
The latest update from the IPL is that KXIP has been renamed Punjab Kings. In particular, the brand decided to redesign this season to attract more players. More than 20 foreign players were bought at auction, and during the season there were performances from eight countries along with Indian players.
