Nearly half of Americans say they're worried about the safety of the money they have in the bank. Yet most have their money in FDIC protected bank accounts — where it's safe.

Autocannibalism is not something anyone should try at home. But it is a habit US banking would become more prone to, supposing deposit insurance is extended from the current limit of $250,000 per depositor.
How did we get here? The sequence of events, reflected this week in JPMorgan Chase’s purchase of First Republic Bank goes something like this
Rates go up some more.
Depositors with access to the tissue of lies, half-truths and occasional reality that is social media are spooked by the fear of deposit flight and/or their bank possibly losing money on bond investments.
The shares fall.
Depositors start pulling funds fast. This gives pundits a chance to write zeitgeisty pieces about how fast everything happens these days, blissfully ignoring the speed of some bank runs in small, interconnected communities in the 19th century.
The bank issues a statement saying everything is fine.
This is widely read as a contrary indicator.
The shares fall some more.
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation rescues the bank
The FDIC sells the assets so cheaply that the purchaser has a hefty margin to absorb any unexpected losses.
Costs are socialised via a levy on FDIC-backed institutions that they pass on to customers.
Rinse and repeat with the next regional bank people feel anxious about, perhaps PacWest or Zions Bancorp.

I love scrolling thru Tumblr during the Met Gala bc like you have
Fashion dedicated blogs who are actually familiar with its history, determining if things are on theme and comparing past looks
Booing and shouting over every guy in a black suit
Fans of specific celebrities just absolutely drooling and swooning even if the look is just. Objectively not very good
On that note just some VERY horny people in general
People who just want to throw tomatoes at rich people
Discussion on how bad the Met is at even picking themes and that they need to so something really out there
"If you have the money and you're just wearing some boring ass dress get tf out"

I wish I wrote the way I thought Obsessively Incessantly With maddening hunger I’d write to the point of suffocation I’d write myself into nervous breakdowns Manuscripts spiralling out like tentacles into abysmal nothing And I’d write about you A lot more Than I should

well.
I was waiting for the train and there were too many ladies in these puffed waistcoats.
I tried to find out why are these so popular.

Bronze Age Sword Found in Finland Garden
A sword believed to be from the Bronze Age — between 2,000 and 4,000 years ago — has been found in a garden in the Satakunta region of western Finland.
The discovery was made with the use of a metal detector by Matti Rintamaa in the village of Panelia. The sword was discovered in late July by Matti Rintamaan, who had bought his first metal detector just two weeks earlier.
The sword was found in about seven different pieces, which were scattered around the yard.
Although Rintamaa found the artefact at the end of July, the discovery has only just been revealed by Satakunta Museum and the Finnish Heritage Agency.
“The object was probably broken and then transported to the site along with some arable land transferred in connection with a construction project years ago,” the museum and the agency said in a joint press release. “The original context of the sword can only be guessed at, but possibly it was once sacrificed to the coastal waters of the ancient Gulf of Panelia.”
A rare find
Bronze Age artefacts are rare discoveries, as only about 200 objects from the era are known to have been found in Finland.
This number includes about 25 swords and daggers, two of which were also found in Panelia.
“During the Bronze Age, the area around the ancient Gulf of Panelia was densely populated, as evidenced by the area’s numerous burial mounds. Panelia also houses Finland’s largest known Bronze Age burial mound, Kuninkaanhauta (roughly translated as the Royal Tomb),”

March 24 is my birthday too

William Morris was born on March 24, 1834. He was a British textile designer, poet, novelist, translator and socialist activist associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement. He was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. His literary contributions helped to establish the modern fantasy genre, while he helped win acceptance of socialism in fin de siècle Great Britain.
Morris was born in Walthamstow, Essex, to a wealthy middle-class family. He came under the strong influence of medievalism while studying Classics at Oxford University, there joining the Birmingham Set. After university, married Jane Burden, and developed close friendships with Pre-Raphaelite artists Edward Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti and with Neo-Gothic architect Philip Webb. Webb and Morris designed Red House in Kent where Morris lived from 1859 to 1865, before moving to Bloomsbury, central London. In 1861, Morris founded the Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. decorative arts firm with Burne-Jones, Rossetti, Webb, and others, which became highly fashionable and much in demand. The firm profoundly influenced interior decoration throughout the Victorian period, with Morris designing tapestries, wallpaper, fabrics, furniture, and stained glass windows. In 1875, he assumed total control of the company, which was renamed Morris & Co.
Morris rented the rural retreat of Kelmscott Manor, Oxfordshire, from 1871 while also retaining a main home in London. He was greatly influenced by visits to Iceland with Eiríkr Magnússon, and he produced a series of English-language translations of Icelandic Sagas. He also achieved success with the publication of his epic poems and novels, namely The Earthly Paradise (1868–1870), A Dream of John Ball (1888), the Utopian News from Nowhere (1890), and the fantasy romance The Well at the World’s End (1896). In 1877, he founded the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings to campaign against the damage caused by architectural restoration. He embraced Marxism and was influenced by anarchism in the 1880s and became a committed revolutionary socialist activist. He founded the Socialist League in 1884 after an involvement in the Social Democratic Federation (SDF), but he broke with that organisation in 1890. In 1891, he founded the Kelmscott Press to publish limited-edition, illuminated-style print books, a cause to which he devoted his final years.
Morris is recognised as one of the most significant cultural figures of Victorian Britain. He was best known in his lifetime as a poet, although he posthumously became better known for his designs. The William Morris Society founded in 1955 is devoted to his legacy, while multiple biographies and studies of his work have been published. Many of the buildings associated with his life are open to visitors, much of his work can be found in art galleries and museums, and his designs are still in production.

House of Hackney X William Morris, FW15
'Invited by the William Morris Gallery to reimagine his works for a new generation, House of Hackney’s founders have chosen three key prints from the William Morris archive and breathed new life into them. Peacock and Dragon, Hyacinth and Blackthorn were selected for their stunning symmetrical proportions and imaginative use of motifs from the natural world. Adding a typically House of Hackney touch, Frieda and Javvy re-worked each print, experimenting with repeats and scales and applying a brighter, bolder colour palette than was possible with the natural vegetable dyes used by Morris & Co. The collection is completed by the Artemis print, created by House of Hackney’s own designers as a heightened, psychedelic homage to Morris’ work.' X
Happy Birthday William Morris - born on this day in 1834.
