The strange hours

When, in the middle of the night, I catch myself calling your name in secret. When, in the middle of the night, you’re here, but you don’t know it. When, in the middle of the night, I look into your eyes and see the green spring light, and the grass and the flowers on the soaked street. When, in the middle of the night, I miss you under the shadow of other names and faces. When, as the dawn breaks into my window, I see you in every streetlight, knowing that, eventually, this too will fade away.

Imaginación 101 Hay un túnel muy largo por el que tienes que cruzar. ¿Lo haces caminando? ¿En coche? ¿Sola? ¿Acompañada? ¿Cómo es el túnel? ¿Es oscuro? ¿Hace frío? ¿O hay luz? ¿Cómo es el suelo? ¿Qué hay al final del túnel? ¿Llegas a un lugar totalmente diferente? ¿O es igual al lugar en el que empezaste? ¿Es bonito? ¿Qué hay? ¿Qué sentimiento te da este otro lado del túnel? Finalmente, ¿qué crees que representan todas estas cosas que te pregunté?

El túnel cruza una montaña muy grande. No está pavimentado, aunque la tierra del suelo ya ha sido pisada antes. No hay luz más que la que viene del otro lado: se ve como un pequeño círculo blanco a lo lejos. Es muy alto, pero se puede ver el techo fácilmente. Cuando entro traigo puestos unos converse negros (los clásicos que ya no puedo usar porque me lastiman los tobillos). Voy a pie, lenta. Con algo de vértigo. Pero cuando avanzo me doy cuenta de que mis ojos se adaptan a la oscuridad. Puedo ver el suelo tenue y las piedritas que hay que esquivar. Aún así no quito mi mano de la pared. Sí hay miedo y hace frío, pero veo el final. Avanzo cada vez más rápido, ya quiero salir. Y cuando salgo mis ojos se deslumbran. No sé qué hay del otro lado hasta que me cubro la cara con la mano. Llego a un jardín que ya conocía, lleno de gente que ya conocía. Algunos no me notan, pero otros me reciben. No solo estoy tranquila, también estoy contenta de ver a los del otro lado, especialmente a una persona que se ríe mucho. 

Todo esto puede representar muchas cosas, más aún porque recordé situaciones similares. Ahora mismo representa que extraño a mucha gente, que me siento como dentro del túnel. Que me encantaría salir y ver a las personas que hay fuera. Que sí, la vida es como un túnel, o muchos. Pero habemos algunos que queremos salir para ver qué hay del otro lado.
