Retrospective

As we look back and reflect on the wonderful memories, exciting changes, and successful projects of 2013, we would like to thank all of you for being part of Mondo Collection's growth. We truly appreciate the support of the design community, vendors and designers, editors and writers, and last but not least our clients.  Last year we collaborated with great organizations, participated in several design shows, and introduced fantastic new designs into our furniture and lighting collection.

Genois Limited Beanbag by Dvelas

When recycling becomes an art form, we must love it! Made from recycled sails, the Genois beanbags are carefully engineered pieces by the architecture studios in Pamplona (Spain). The design inspiration combines sailing techniques, nautical construction, and poetry of the sea.  Over the time, the ship sails become deteriorated, which makes them inadequate for navigation. However, the materials have excellent qualities.  A limited series of beanbags are made from the sail and each one of them is tagged with information about the sail, such as its origin, the type, its manufacturer, the boat it belonged to and its base port.

Orgue Candleholder by Studio Andrée Putman for Lalique

The Orgue Collection takes us back to the legendary French crystal making. The alchemy of crystal is based on a secret technic passed through generations. Lalique stands for “choice” rather than quality of control: after manufacturing the crystals are selected not only according to technical requirements, but also according to their aesthetics.  With receiving the approval, each crystal is signed by hand.

Resin Coasters by Nada Debs

 These hand inlayed coasters are made from colored resin with designs in brushed brass, brushed silver metal, or mother of pearl. The design concept is a celebration of Eastern craftsmanship through contemporary design, using both Arab heritage and the Western modernity influence.
