Robert Horry, underappreciated athlete.
Robert Horry is a former American professional basketball player and current sports commentator. He is one of the most underappreciated athletes, but has done very well for himself. He has a net worth of $20 million dollars.
He played 16 seasons in the NBA, winning seven championships. He is one of only players to have won an NBA championship with three teams: two with the Houston Rockets, three with the Los Angeles Lakers and two with the San Antonio Spurs. He earned the nickname Big Shot Rob because of his clutch shooting in important games. He is also considered to be one of the greatest clutch performers and winners in NBA history.
Horry may have played in the league for 16 years, but ever since he was a rookie, he has always played like an experienced, fundamentally sound, and seasoned veteran.
Horry is obviously a great shooter at his power forward position. He was never the guy to score 25-30 points per game, however he was a starter with O'Neal and Olajuwon for good reason. He fit perfectly in the paint with them.
In his younger days with the Rockets and Lakers, a defender would definitely need to respect his shooting touch. Because of this, the younger, quicker, and more athletic Horry could also drive the ball inside to make an easy layup or dunk, because at 6'10", no one was blocking the shot. Not only is Horry an accomplished and legitimate threat to score, but he also was a very good passer. He also did not turn the ball over often at all due to quality ball handling skills. Over his career, he held a low average of 1.24 turnovers in 24.5 minutes.
Robert Horry played a crucial role in every team he played as he ended his career with more championship rings than any of his peers and developed a reputation as one the most clutch performers in the history of the game.
Robert Horry steps up when called upon and that quality sets him apart from the rest. Throughout his entire career, he hit clutch shots. Horry is probably the greatest player you will ever see that only scored seven points a game in his career. It does not matter how many he scored, but rather, when he scored. But because he played with superstar players, he has been mistakenly forgotten.
I think he should be in the basketball hall of fame.  The basketball Hall of Fame is the one thing that isn't only about basketball skill, it's about greatness. Robert Horry did several things that separated him from the other players.  Maybe I'm thinking too highly of him, however before Horry came into the league, role players were overlooked for years.
Horry now works as a commentator on Spectrum SportsNet for the Lakers. He has considered being a basketball coach for the Lakers, but Horry is more than content with his role as a studio analyst, providing the “lighter side” of the spectrum, as he described it.
