I’m not a winter person, but there’s something almost magical about the way water freezes. From instant snow to snow rollers and weird ice formations to slushy waves, winter brings all kinds of bizarre and unexpected sights. The video above is an artistic look at one of my favorites – freezing soap bubbles. Normally, the thin film of a soap bubble is in wild motion, convecting due to gravity, surface tension differences, and the surrounding air. Such a thin layer of liquid loses its heat quickly, though, and, as ice crystals form, the bubble’s convection and rotation slow dramatically, often breaking the thin membrane. Happily photographer Pablo Zaluska had the patience to capture the beautiful ones that didn’t break! (Video credit: P. Zaluska; via Gizmodo)

movie watching stuff? you get to watch your sims watch movies...yikes
I know. The constant stream of tacky, lazy, poorly-conceived content is truly exhausting. Get Together is the first expansion pack I’ve ever purchased (and I’ve had every single one since TS1) that I haven’t had any desire to play; I fooled around with Windenburg and clubs for about 25 minutes and haven’t played since the week it was released.
With The Sims 4, EA is focusing on a much younger demographic, one that is largely blind to EA’s bullshit. However, I’m an adult and I have no interest in, as you said, watching my Sims watch movies. The pack could’ve been about building movie theaters, or having your Sims star in their own films…it’s all just lazy, and I’m not sure how much longer I can continue spending even an iota of my time and attention on a game that EA has utterly neglected.
