Whether that be helping tenderfoots train, gathering herbs for the oracle, or letting the Faeders have a break and watching the kitlings. Blazing Vines
Tumblr media
“ a scruffy-furred pale orange shell dame with noticeable markings on their face and white socks. They have deep-set storm colored eyes, a half tail and long fangs. They are serious and level-headed. ”
Daughter of Splash Flake ⵜ, Partner of ???, Niece of Thrush Waters and Ragged Hawk, cousin of Wasp
Lesbian | Cis | She/they
48 Moons/4 years (32 approx.)
Blazing Vines is a melancholic feline, she’s currently struggling with her loyalty to her clan. Due to the nepotism of her aunt she is now in a position of power that she doesn’t want, she misses her life as a seeker wanting the adventure but has been basically confined to camp and instead having to sneak out at night to do as she pleases. Who knows, maybe one day she’ll be able so meet those she wishes.
Name implication: A strong willed warrior with strong bonds to their friends and family

Casere Tawny Waters
Tumblr media
“ a magnificent, muscular she-cat. Her fur is black and fawn with a ticked tabby pattern. It is dull and of medium length. She has a round face with large green eyes. He has a throaty voice and a spicy scent.  ”
Daughter of Marigold Flash and Raccoon Paws ⵜ, Partner of Sweet Frond, Mother of Scarlet Haze. Crow Surge, and Violet Darner ⵜ
Straight | Cis | She/her
144 Moons/12 years (64 approx.)
Tawny Waters, formerly Tawny Stare, is the oldest head in all the factions. She’s lived long enough to see battles turn into elder’s tales, though she never forgets the lessons learned from such wars. She’s a stickler for the rules and is harsh in her punishments of those who break the commandments. She’s least likely to let a cat unbound by the factions into her’s, much less let in someone from a rival faction. She’s well know for bordering cats for breaking minor rules, even her own kin. The harsh winter they just experienced has made her even stricter on the cats who’ve survived, though her clanmates blame this on the passing of her son Violet Darner from said winter. She would never tell anyone but the grief from this has made her question her position in the faction. After all, if she can’t save her over son how is she supposed to save everyone else?
Name implications: A leader of waters who many bring bad omens

Casere Otter Cliff
Tumblr media
“ a short, muscular tom. His fur is white with golden spotted tabby splotches. It is somewhat spiky and short. He has a triangular face with almond-shaped lime green eyes. He has a soft voice and a heavy scent. ”
Brother of Veiled Poppy. Son of Chicken Caw and Squirrel Tuft
Gay | Cis | He/him
78 Moons/6 years 6 months (42approx.)
Otter Cliff, formerly Otter Spot, the the head of the faction of Rocky Cliffs. Despite this role, he never had any intention of coming into a position of power. He was chosen by the former head while they were on their death bead, the former heir having passed in a hunting accident. He was deemed caring and intelligent enough so lead their faction into a new age. Previous to this position he was a lore keeper, making him knowledgeable on most of his comrades and a strict follower of traditions. He does however see value in new ideas and new ways of doing things. He’s trying his best to lead his faction peacefully but when the other two Caseres he works with are so... intense, it can get rather stressful.
name implications: A creative individual who may be connected to psychic abelites, leader of the cliffs

Casere Thrush Wind
Tumblr media
“ an average, well built she-cat. Her fur is a very pale fawn with a classic tabby pattern. It is tangled and of medium length. She has a round face with narrow dark green eyes. She has a piercing voice and an aromatic scent. ”
Sister of Ragged Hawk and Splash Flake ⵜ . Partner of Ice Gaze. Mother of Wasp, Sage ⵜ, Firefly ⵜ.
Straight | Cis | She/her
104 Moons/8 years 8 months (52 approx.)
Thrush Wind, formerly Thrush Face, is the Faction of the Singing Wind’s head and practically sole commander due to how little she listens to her council. This is out of arrogance rather than malice, she attends to her factions needs but does little to interact with them. She leaves that up to her niece, and heir, Blazing Vines. She is viewed is stubborn and asocial by her peers but they suck it up because after all, if the ancestors deem her worthy to lead us then she must know what she’s doing...
Name implications: A leader of the winds who values Freedom

The Commandments of Ancestors
All factions are united under this commandments. Each faction may interpret these rules as they please but they are to be followed none the less. Kits are taught these during base training and before they may be promoted to specialized training they must know these laws of land.
1) One’s loyalty must be to their own faction first, defend it with your life. Friendships with other factions are tolerated but you may not speak about private clan matters.
2) Your faction’s land is your own, do not trespass into another’s land without expressed permission from their Council.
3) Those who cannot fend for themselves must be fed first (Faeders, kits, elders, sick/injured, etc.)
4) The Fallen is to be a sacred topic, if talked about in the negative that cat is to be punished by the Oracle.
5) An Oracle can only be released from their role if they take a mate and/or have kits, if they step down willingly, or if the Fallen no longer wishes to speak with them.
6) When killing prey, thank your ancestors for its sacrifice—they welcome your gratitude.
7) Newly named cats will sit vigil the night of their ceremony and keep watch of the clan while they rest to prove their loyalty one final time, if the silence is broken or they sleep early the vigil will be for another night.
8) The heir takes the Casere’s place once they loose all their lives or retired and must go to the temple immediately.
9) After a heir dies/retires, the Casere is to appoint a new heir before moonhigh and a vigil will be held for the past, the new heir must ask the old heir for a blessing.
10) Full Moon Gatherings must stay peaceful—if the clouds cover the moon the gathering has ended with no war and all cats must go home.
11) Boundaries and markings must be checked daily, if it isn’t it could be claimed by another.
12) Killing in battle is sacred, a honorable warrior does not need to kill another cat of the Brotherred, unless the cat is outside of the sacred land
13) Kits must be taken care of—no matter where it comes from, even in the faction or in the renegade life a kit cannot be ignored.
14) Queens are allowed to keep the sire a secret if they please.

Consequences/Punishments
Bordering - When a cat is made to live on the edges of the territory and fend for themselves. Bordering can also include banning visiting regularly used camp areas such as training grounds, moss collection places and popular hunting grounds.
Exile - When a cat is banished from their clan and stripped of any honorable titles they have. Caseres mark the faces of exile cats to inform other clans of their status. When a cat is exiled they are also stripped of their suffix to shown they’ve broken the Brotherred and are banned from entering any faction land. Their exile is also announced at the full moon gathering.
Demoting - Sometimes when cats are noted to be acting particularly immature, they may be temporarily demoted to tenderfoot duties until the Casere deems that they've grown from their mistake. The most serious cases have an actual demotion ceremony in which the cat is re-apprenticed and made to earn their rank from square one.

The Brotherred of Fallen Stars
The Brotherred are 3 factions united under a common ancestor, The Fallen Stars. These stars are made up of passed away ancestors (the souls beyond), ancestors entering the rebirth cycle (the awaited souls), and the pantheon of Gods.
The factions are divided by the gods they Worship.
The Faction of Rocky Cliffs: Casere Rugged Crag, God of Life, Earth, Mammals, and The Patroon God of the Big Three.
The Faction of Frozen Waters: Casere Iced Sea, Goddess of Rebirth, Water, Marine Life, and the Matron God of the Big Three.
The Faction of Singing Winds: Casere Caroling Zephyr, Goddess of Death, Weather, birds, and the Saint of the Big Three.
There are other minor gods who all factions are free to worship but these three are the heads of the pantheon and all give a life to the new Casere of their faction.

Prey Meanings
Some cats believe in these superstitions more than others, but there is a general consensus that each prey you catch does mean something. Due to the harsh weather these factions live in their prey is varied as they’ll eat anything they can. Some prey however is seen as cursed if you catch it as it may be tied to the Ancestors in some way.
Mice/Lemmings: They can be hard to find under the snow despite how common they are so catching one makes one seem as if they are good at looking for small noises and that they are skilled.
Hare: Due to the high level of skill needed to catch one of these they are treated with respect and are given thanks, eating one with dirty paws is seen as an act of carelessness and an indicator of someone with disrespect.
Caribou/Muskox/Deer: Only a highly organized hunting party can catch these, and even then they do it rarely as one wrong move an kill a cat. If however one IS caught and brought back to camp then a celebration is held and thanks are given to the Gods for this prey. The hunting party is seen as brave and favorable as a potential heir
Sea Eagle/Falcon: catching these birds of prey is seen as noble, especially if caught in camp. It is common for cat proving themselves as good Guardians to catch one of these for the nursing Faeders. If a Guardian Tenderfoot catches one they’re offered a chance to have their ceremony early to earn their full name.
Snowy Owls: Catching one of these is seen as an omen of misfortune, an owl passing by is seen as an ancestor trying to bring knowledge, if they are stopped in their travels said spirit is seen as faded and stricken down. Who ever catches one faces the punishment of their Casere.

General Roles:
Casere: leads the faction along with a council consisting of the heads of each job. Elders also partake in this council though for them it is optional. They are blessed with anywhere from 1-9 lives from their ancestors and the God/Goddess their faction worships.
Artisans: The builders, they consist of heavyweight cats who tend to be inventors. They think up ways to fortify camp from the harsh weather, and take care of warming up the faction. Artisans of the Faction of Frozen Waters and Faction of Singing Winds and specifically trained to move from their Summer to Winter bases and make sure to take care of the upkeep of each camp.
Guards: Watch over the camp and the Casere, they can also be specially trained to watch over new Faeders as well as their kitlings. In cases where kits get orphaned for whatever reason it falls to any available Guard to take over, they are also a valuable resource for new parents. On the other hand they may specialize in attack planning, practicing defense strategies and learning from past battles, making them a tank to fight against.
Seekers - explorers, they adventure out in teams to scope the surroundings, getting an eye out for any possible predators making their way into faction land. They also wander out into new lands trying to gather as much knowledge as possible to return to their comrades with, whether that be new healing herbs, or new poisons.
Stalkers - Hunters, they feed the clan sending out parties to return with heaps of fresh kill. They consist of: Party leaders, respected stalkers often with seasons of experience; Trailer, usually a tenderfoot, or young stalker who tire out the prey and lead them to the ambushers; Ambushers, stalkers who wait in assigned spots  to carry out the brute of the attack. These cats require mass amounts of skill in teamwork and communication.
Lore keepers - The wisest in the clan, these cats recount and memorize the faction’s history and fables. They have a wall in the camp solely dedicated to tracking the families in their faction, each lineage retaining a certain color and scent made with a crushed herb paint. They know everything, from old battles long forgotten, to sacred traditions that must be followed to a tea. They often train a new Casere in the history and legacy of their group. They must have a sharp wit and long memory to follow this walk of life.
Heir: one who is the second in command and the next Casere if the previous dies, these are the ones the Lore Keepers train in their history, to prove themselves they must complete a series of tasks dictated by the Casere and the Brotherred of Fallen Stars. This job is not an easy task, as an Heir you are expected to help out in all paths, if an Artisan needs help watching a group of kits while they reconstruct the den wall you must be there to help, if a Hunting party needs one more Ambusher you must be the first to volunteer no matter how tired you are. Being an Heir is about making connections and getting to know your comrades as they will be the ones you lead one day.
Tenderfoots: They are aged anywhere from 4-16 moons depending on the faction and are taught the ways of their culture. From ages 4-7 moons they learn the basics/in camp training, there they are taught the commandments, basic fighting and hunting techniques, and simple herbal medicine. After this base training they are expected to choose a path to follow where then they will shadow under the seniors of each job. It’s not unheard of for a tenderfoot to change their career during training because it’s not what they thought it’d be, in fact it’s encouraged to explore and find which job suits your skills. Once the seniors of their career deem them worthy they earn their full name, adding a suffix to their already existing prefix.
Oracles: they are a window into the Brotherred of the Fallen and a vessel for spirits to travel through. They are selected from birth and are taught as soon as they open their eyes to speak to the great beyond. They are not told who their family are as to prevent special connections, an Oracles closest bonds are to their mentor and their Tenderfoot. Though this isn’t to say they don’t get to know their clan, far from it. They act as the healers or their faction, learning extensively about what will and won’t cure a cat. They are seen as an omen in of themself, as if a Faeder gives birth/sires one they are seen as having a close connection to their ancestors even if the others cannot tell the oracle.
Elders: the ones who have served their seasons devoted to their faction and are now getting their rest. They are highly respected for their accomplishments and duty to the rest, they are pampered in their old age and taken care of by everyone. To live long enough to be an elder earns them a title marking their deeds (ex: Hoot Echo The Loyal Caregiver, Rush Dance The Brave Mentor, Night Grace, The Protector of the Damned, etc.)
