It seems I can't have anonymous on. It's a shame, I like having anonymous asks on and love interacting with people who are too shy or sly to approach me.

I logged on this morning to find this anonymous ask.

It's worded in a way that is clearly geared towards my ethnicity and race. It's no secret that I am East Asian. More specifically Chinese. Since reports and studies has stated that COVID-19 was traced to Wuhan wet markets probably from bats early on in the pandemic, they're using this to attack me. As well as China being a communist county. The irony is, I was born in the United States and the U.S.A. is MY country. I am an American. This has been one of the MANY racist incidents I have encountered in my entire life. Asians have been and has always encountered hate from the country I call home. It has just been amplified by this pandemic. For those of you still using Wuhan virus...think about why using it puts a target on our backs. Puts a target on the East Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islanders. This is a clear example of a hate crime. Too bad tumblr doesn't do anything about these kinds of messages. I have contacted support before about these messages to see what I can do about these messages. I have been getting hate since last year.

This is a message from September that has similar language.

It's clear to me that blocking them doesn't work. Thus, the only solution is to turn off anonymous asks. Tumblr support has stated they can't do anything about it unless I plan to take legal action against these individuals. So it leaves me with no choice but to turn off anonymous asks. Especially since anonymous asks was turned off for about 4-5 months. Blocks have not worked because anyone can use a VPN to change their IP to circumvent the blocks.

It's sad I won't have anonymous messaging. Hopefully, this safe space that I have built over the years, would return to a safe space in which I feel comfortable enough to turn it back on. So, for now, anonymous asks will be turned off. My tumblr will not appear if you search for it and hopefully it will curb individuals such as these anons from accessing my blog again.
