Yet another AO3 bot situation - please spread the word!

Hi, it's me again, the person who wrote that viral post about fanfiction plagiarism! Today I'm here to warn you about abuse perpetrated by bots who have stolen AO3 usernames.

There's currently an epidemic of bots going around leaving (apparently random) horrible, hateful comments on people's fics. This isn't the first time bots have invaded AO3, but the big problem with this wave is that they're using real AO3 usernames to do it.

I learned about this when another writer contacted me after receiving the following comment on their story:

Now, while that is my username, I DEFINITELY did not leave this comment (and anyone who would leave something like that on a fic should be slapped! What an awful thing to post). This fic is in a completely unrelated fandom that I have never participated in, nor has that author participated in any of my fandoms, so the probability of it being some intentional fandom drama thing to make me look bad is also low.

The writer whose fic the comment was left on enlisted the aid of some friends and tracked down other guest comments with unrelated usernames attached, which is pretty strong evidence that they are being left by bots at random.

The TL;DR: If you receive a cruel comment from a (Guest) with an actual AO3 username attached, it's most likely from a bot. Please do not lash out at or dogpile the AO3 user who owns that name, and who in all likelihood has no idea that their name has been hijacked for evil.

If finding this kind of comment on a fic, even left by a bot, is likely to upset you, I would recommend changing your comment settings so that only users who are logged in can leave comments. To do this, edit your story settings, and under "Privacy," select the radio button that says "Only registered users can comment," as shown below.

Please spread the word to other AO3 users! And if you see mean guest comments on other fics, maybe let the author know that it's probably from a bot and not a real person who thinks their writing is bad.

Pandora Hearts and Vanitas no Carte Cafe in Ikebukuro

Sooo I finally went to the Pandora Hearts and Vanitas no Carte collaboration cafe in Ikebukuro. I have been looking forward to it so much and it didnt disappoint me at all (apart from the fact that the foods and drinks are sooo overpriced lol)

When you get out of the elevator, first thing you see is Jack, on the floor, with a note basically saying “Please feel free to step on me” lol

And then there are two big photos on the wall, one is the collab cafe special illustration and one is the picture of the whole Pandora Hearts crew having the tea party.

When you finally get in to the shop front, again there is Vincent on the floor asking u to step on him xD But honestly its so cute noone even does that xD

There is a different character on each table and other illustration on the glass, the plants all around the shop.

Also on each table there is a BEAUTIFUL sketch book by Jun Mochizuki sensei with all the characters from 2 series in the shop’s uniform ;A; Also the original illustrations for the badges sold in the store. Too bad they do not allow us to take photographs of it T_T

Everyone who comes to the cafe these days is gifted with a free random postcard. This is the one that I got.

You can order the drinks and also the goods directly from your table with a tablet. Also, for each thing u order from the menu they will give u a free random coaster. I ordered a total of 3 dishes so I got 3 coasters for Jeannie, Break and Oz

The food I tried today was Vanitas’ gratin, Alice’s karaage (fried chicken) and B-rabbit’s Chocolate mousse (I dont even like chocolate but its the cutest thing in the world I couldnt help it!)

As for the goods, I got one set of Vanitas and Noe badges (their flowers are Queen of the Night. The meaning of the flower written on Vanitas badge is “Fragile love” and Noe’s is “Unspoken passion”), one VnC double standee (with Vannoe and Domijeannie). As for the Pandora Hearts key chain/standee, there are a total of 9 types and its random so I bought two and got 1 Echo/Noise and 1 Ozgil!!!

There are also videos playing on the screen inside the shop showing Jun-sensei drawing and coloring some of the illustrations.

There are many many more but I’m limited by the 10 photo limit per post by Tumblr so I will just stop my ranting today with the image I found on the elevator xD I hope I can come again lol but my wallet seriously is crying xD

every version of lafcadio looks so done with my shit. im sorry if ive offended you sir i love you that first one im choosing to accept as what he looked like when he was younger

the owl mask is SO good... full wise old man mode... im not sure what the concept behind that third one is, maybe a piece of glass or a chunk of post-fire rubble? and the middle one is just so fucking angy hes doing the arthur fist

also another instance of concept versions being SO long and spindly. it's a REALLY really fun art style but i am glad they all got a little chunkier, it really helps the readability from afar and the general cartoonishness of the style

This is so important too!

When the White Star and Alberu fought, we repeatedly saw people mention Cale. They wanted him there, they felt they would lose if he wasn't there...

And Alberu quite correctly pointed out that it is not good to rely too much on one person. (Also, him schooling the White Star on leadership is just chef's kiss mwah!)

We saw it again with Taylor here

Something like this would not have happened if Choi Han was here instead of those knights. Taylor became weak the moment he had that thought. ‘…This is the Roan Kingdom’s weakness.’ The weakness of the Roan Kingdom that was growing quickly on the Western continent was this. ‘We only rely on a few select people.’

Cale is constantly assessing to he skillsets of the people around him, and if he thinks there's a gap he fixes it.

That this is a story about building teams.

And just.. I absolutely love that they make this point.

That it's not one overpowered protagonist beating down all opposition.

When Raon was unavailable in the battle of the gorge, he brought in Witira.

When he suspected enemies had the darkness attribute while rescuing Bud & co, he brought in the Sun Twins.

And Alberu understands the same thing. Which is why he doesn't want his people constantly relying on Cale to come save them. (He also cares for Cale and knows Cale will never get his slacker life if everyone depends on him, but I don't think that was the main reason he said what he said.

I love this story so much! I keep coming across things during my reread that I just have to comment on.

Currently, that's after Choi Han read the book left behind by Choi Jung Gun

And I really just wanted to talk about this part

The corners of Cale’s lips slowly went up. ‘Yes. This is it. Choi Han knows our methods now.’ “Cale-nim, everybody needs to work together.” Cale started to smile. The original story was gone. This was their history now.

Well, okay, this and everything leading up to it.

Because one of the things I love about Cale is that he absolutely despises having a hero sacrifice themself. He also truly believes that every skill is useful, and that success is really about using a team's skillset effectively.

I originally had been a bit iffy about Cale controlling access to the book. He was concerned Choi Han would read it and decide on some self-sacrificial heroic plan (ironic, I know, but that's Cale for you).

Cale eventually did decide it'd be okay, but it's obvious he manipulated the entire thing. Probably dropping the book so Choi Han would first see the part suggesting someone monopolize the earth powers and then sacrifice them (which since Cale already has one of those powers means Choi Han would think it's suggesting they sacrifice Cale)

Then we have the conversation at the end, where Cale said he didn't like the sentence about all the heroes dying (as well as the sentence in Korean about heroes being born, but ofc he can't tell Choi Han that).

But really, the important part is that Choi Han himself suggested that they work together to defeat the White Star.

I can't say this enough. Most protagonists, though I love them to death, focus more on getting stronger individually.

They don't really talk about creating a team, and most of their teams seem to come about by happenstance.

Having a protagonist who always thinks in terms of what skills they need to succeed - without anyone sacrificing themselves or dying - is an absolute delight.

In some ways Cale also reminds me of Shikamaru, though there are some significant differences.

the real reason why d gray man is the best is because you reach a certain point in the story where you go "okay, there's no way that things can get any worse for allen than they already are" and then you watch in real time as allen's life falls into further disrepair at a level you'd thought impossible to achieve. and then you repeat this process another 3 times until you arrive at the last chapter hoshino-sensei released, published a year ago

A sickness that only happen to people that really love the other person.

A rare sickness.

I wonder, why did you choose to confess to me, instead of going to the hospital.

Because of you, your family and friends blame me for not accepting your confession.

Even my family blame me for this incident.

And my friends also turn against me, mad because someone with a fun personality is wasted for the likes of me.

And now, the only feelings i have for you is resentment.

And i felt guilty because of it.

I appreciate your feelings for me, and i also wanted to stay as your friend.

But because of you, my life has turned into the worst.

I hate this.

I hate you.

I hate myself for hating you.

I'm all alone now, and it's because of you.

I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT THAT ONE TIME CALE USED THE GOD OF DESPAIR TEST FOR HIMSELF!!

Or something along the line. The wrath test is the most incredible part of the test for me. Not only does cale didn't get fooled, he also use it to his own advantages. Just for his own fun i mean.

But you know, there is this part that i really love, mainly the part where he specifically said to the voice about what really make cale the angriest or something. He choose to said absolutely weird thing that makes me confused, but turns out the voice is a scammer XD.

Ok, for real. This is the first thing he said when the voice ask him that question.

CHILDREN COMPLAIN ABOUT SIDE DISH?? THAT IS SUPER UNRELATED AND PEOPLE WILL BE REALLY ANNOYED WHEN SHILDREN COMPLAIN, RIGHT??

BUT THIS MAN RIGHT HERE HAVE A DIFFERENT THOUGHT.

HOW CAN SOMEONE THINK LIKE THAT?? LIKE COME ON yes, he did thought about not having to work anymore, and yes, he laugh when alberu has a mountain of work to do.
