everyone forgets that batman doesn’t use guns or kill people because he like actually believes in rehabilitative justice. what sets him apart is his belief that his villains are victims of circumstance and he thinks they can change. he explicitly does not want to be a cop and yet so many adaptations turn him into a diet cop

been thinkin about this lately and i think i want a small life. not a BAD life n not an ISOLATED life n not a CLOSED life but just. small. with defined boundaries. i want a job that will sustain me that doesn't require exhaustion to survive. i want a place to live that's big enough for me to choose every part of it; just enough shelf for mugs i love, just enough cabinet for a neat set of paints, just enough closet for clothes i actually like wearing not just ones i tolerate. i want to do little routines and make small batches of things and be a regular somewhere. i just want to have something contained and clear that's mine, mine, mine

Yes! I caved in and finally decided to draw them, the batbunch in casual clothes, from this idea by @batty-birds. God I had so much fun sketching this, I’m totally not living out my pinterest board fashion catalogue dream, I am not (I am). And why’s Barb so Kim Possible coded lmao. And I really liked drawing Cass with her asian features because #asianpresentation and I’m proud of my heritage lol. Also Damian was a little joy to draw too, he has a lollipop in his mouth, not cigs.

Dick was by far the hardest to get right, I wanted something dynamic for him, yet not too overly sexualized so he took the longest to get right. And Jason and Duke were the coolest to draw bc omg their colors fit so much with this street aesthetic shit???? Like yooooo

Also, a truly cursed sketch of Bruce and Alfred in their casual clothes, it’s funny so I put it here lmao. 6 pax Alfred speaks to me on so many levels

a bunch of things from the batman files (some of which probably originated other places, yes) because i love random details and useless trivia:

the live-action 1960s batman tv show happened in-universe. bruce didn’t really care. dick was so annoyed, he tried to convince him to sue (and also he apparently managed to convince bruce to turn the batmobile into a convertible for a while)

gordon only worked at the gcpd for 3 years before he was made police commissioner

bruce calls hal a cowboy… for some reason

he added the bright yellow circle around the bat symbol to try and make himself more of a target and draw fire away from dick

joker venom and fear gas flashbacks might be a thing that can happen?

the waynes died on june 27th

the graysons died on may 2nd

the batmobile didn’t have a back seat at first, so when they needed to transport people, they’d just throw them in the fucking trunk

thomas wayne and charles sionis were golf buddies, and roman and bruce were forced to have play dates together when they were kids

somebody managed to get a picture of dick the very first night he went out as nightwing. he stole the camera and left the guy a few hundred bucks as compensation

bruce likes the name “spoiler”

he thinks damian has his eyes and talia’s mouth

babs passive aggressively sends bruce screenshots when she catches him messing around with selina on security feeds

alfred got so sick of bruce not eating the food he cooked that he started equally as passive aggressively making menus of what he planned to make that day and giving them to him ahead of time

the batmobile is unlocked by a button on the utility belt

bruce had a jonah hex action figure as a kid

and while he was on the ground bleeding to death after being shot by the actual jonah hex, he was thinking about how he’d kinda like to buy another one once he got back home

damian’s robin outfit was designed by dick

when he was batman, dick had a dedicated security program for his jla transporter room called the NDA (No Damian Allowed) protocol

and last but not least, my personal favorite:

the first outlet to report that batman had a sidekick was a super trashy anti-batman tabloid, which told people he was a bloodthirsty maniac brainwashed by batman, who was his biological father, speculated about whether catwoman or poison ivy were his mother, and pushed a conspiracy theory that dick brutally beat zucco to death with a baseball bat and the reason it was being reported that zucco died of a heart attack was because commissioner gordon was helping them cover it up

Sometimes when music isn’t enough she pulls up an old familiar video- sometimes it’s someone going through a recipe she’s long memorized yet never tried, sometimes it’s about a video game she’s never played but knows the ending of, and sometimes it’s a video about internet drama five years old.

Sometimes when her thoughts are too much, and sometimes when they’re not enough, she needs someone else’s voice and thoughts to fill up that space. It doesn’t always help, but sometimes it does.

Silence makes Stephanie Brown mad. She just can't handle it at all. She needs music going on at dlk time, even in the background. Underwise she feels like screaming. Not a small scream a full fledged blood curdling scream. Sometimes even music isn't enough, nothing feels like enough. It's weird, a sensory overload of sorts.

Sometimes I wonder just how well Cass's Batgirl suit was made because like. Helena handstitched the thing in the middle of no-man's-land, it got passed to Cassandra for her time as Batgirl, she kept it for a few years before finally passing the thing off to Stephanie. Like. How much combat has that thing seen? It should be more patch then suit at this point. Helena needs to go into design because those are some incredible skills

Mobility aids aren't props for your cosplay.

If you don't know I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user, a cane and forearm crutch user. I am also a passionate cosplayer, the cosplayer ambassador for a 3rd printer, a panelist, and convention volunteer. But most of all I'm against abled bodied cosplayers buying mobility aids for cosplay.

Another wheelchair user I know ran into a cosplayer who bought a very nice used wheelchair just for a cosplay. One that someone like me could be using instead. I went to a con in my wheelchair a few months ago, and there was an able bodied cosplayer, using a wheelchair as a prop. It looked nothing like an actual usable chair. I was to say to say anything, but got asked throughout the day if my wheelchair was a prop.

Don't cosplay a disabled character, and buy mobility aids that people who need could use. It's not funny, it makes you look like an asshole. There's a lot of passionate disabled cosplayers who gev told they aren't in character due to their mobility aids.
