Betty Cooper and the Elixir of Life - FINAL Part 21

Something’s pecking at the window.

Woozy and confused, Betty blows a few strands of her golden hair out of her face and peeks an eye open. There’s an owl at the window that looks suspiciously like Apus. Except why is the Jones family owl bothering them at this god awful hour? Annoyed, she reaches over and smacks Jughead on the chest a few times before her hand moves up to his face after he refuses to awaken.

“Jug!” 

He bolts up in the bed, disoriented as his gaze darts around the room. “What’s happening?”

“Your owl is happening,” she mutters, pointing in Apus’s direction.

Six+ Sentence Sunday

Hello my loves! Here’s a snippet from the FINAL chapter of Betty Cooper and the Elixir of Life!!!

Betty looks down at their intertwined hands and squeezes tightly. He lifts hers and places the gentlest of kisses on her knuckles, brushing his lips across them.

“It was something I wanted to tell you for the longest time and I know I should’ve done it sooner. A part of me was so scared that you would just leave but that wasn’t fair to you. I shouldn’t have let my own fears guide my actions.”

“Jug, you shouldn’t have to-” she starts to say, pausing for a moment as she tries to find her words. “Think about everything that you would be giving up. It’s your entire life. I can’t possibly ask you to do that.”

“You’re not asking me. I’m making this decision of my own free will and I know it’s the right one. For too long, I’ve let my parents lord this power and control over me. If it comes down to it, between you and the money, title, and them? I choose you. It will always be you.”

Tears prick her eyes and she blinks furiously, trying her best to hold them back. She’s heard him declare his love for her numerous times but at the end of the day, they’re just pretty words. A beautiful phrase, sure; one that she certainly enjoys hearing but this – this means so much more. He doesn’t even need to say it, his actions show her that she is the priority. She is the most important choice in his life. That feeling is irreplaceable and mere words could not summarize it.

She gives him the softest, gentle kiss to the lips. Her mouth caresses his as she savors his taste. When it ends, she rests her forehead against his, her breath mingling with his. It’s a raw, intimate moment and one that she wants to remember for the rest of her life.

Betty Cooper and the Elixir of Life - Part 20

Jughead’s not sure what to expect when he enters the Headmistress’s office, trailing after her steps. Uncertainty, worry, and anger mix together in a volatile way in the pit of his stomach. The first thing he notices as he steps into the room is Ethel’s bright red hair. It’s curled perfectly and she has it pushed back off her face with a headband. This simple thing bothers him beyond reason. He hates that she looks so utterly put together when she should be in disarray. This is all that he desires right now, her ruin.

He stands at the edge of the room, a few feet away from Professor Malfoy who has not taken his intense gaze off of Ethel. To her credit, Ethel seems completely unbothered by all of this.
