I certainly agree with you on many points. First you are absolutely right about South Park doing things for shocking value and not actual political commentary, though I'm sure someone far smarter than myself or you can say there's something deeper about the continual shtick of killing Kenny. I know very well that people can be dark and twisted and have god fucking awful sense of humors. I still believe there is a difference between being offended by South Park and being offended by the memes but I understand your point.

I think we have a very reactive society (myself included obviously) and we want to show how right(eous) we are and how we condone shit like this and often lose the plot, though I will remain disgusted that he even liked them but that is my opinion. I think blowing it up, allows people to be aware of who they are supporting and showing the show/business/whatever that there are some things that should be taken seriously, not swept under the rug. I know this particular instance is relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, even with all the issues on Broadway. I do think it's important too remember that though entertainment seems insignificant but it does have outreaching effects on all of us.

But I'm a firm believer of ripples. One small thing can ripple out like in a still lake and cause change throughout the whole lake. Raising awareness to a Broadway show that their new lead liked unacceptable memes and pushing them to do something (though I don't think they will) might at least cause the creators to give more thought and opportunity to someone who's not like that, because I can guarantee you he's made some comments backstage whether in jest or not, or at the very least create a better backstage for all of their cast. Then the next show they put in the actual effort to begin and inspire others who take those lessons and create their own safe space and so on and so on, eventually expanding past Broadway and the white boy who admittedly is inconsequential in the long run.

I fully admit this is idealistic but this is what I mean by ripples. One small action becomes expands to something bigger. I think, for me at least, change starts small even if where it starts doesn't seem important.

You’re right. I don’t know you. All I see is a guy comparing being offended by jokes about violence to literal children and others to being offended by a show that has for a hell of a lot longer than you’ve been alive been using their platform to make smart political satire because they make someone look bad.. They are not the same thing at all.

A product of their time? It was 5 years ago and still very much relevant in today’s conversation of sexual assault. These weren’t made 20 years ago, these were made in 2019, not that long ago. Jokes like these are still made to this day. They literally never stop and they are very much an indicator of what you condone and don’t. Especially as it’s been my experience that the men who like these sort of things, a) never change and b) are usually the ones that commit those horrible acts. Jokes like these make people think that kind of stuff is okay. And yes laughing at these type of jokes or better yet liking those posts DOES mean you condone them because it encourages more of the same disgusting behavior. Remember accounts like that he would have had to absolutely seek out and follow. He would have had to see something and was like yes more of that please. It literally means you like what they say. You can call me ultra sensitive, I don’t care but there are some things you should never joke about and I absolutely condemn Trevor for even liking these.

I commend you for waiting for actual evidence. More people should. I myself have stuck up for celebrities who have allegations with no proof. My issue is not with you waiting for more concrete proof but by dismissing what is obviously his sense of humor as ‘just a joke’ when like I said, what you like and what you follow is a clear indication of where your heart lies. If he was following accounts and liking their like the Trevor Project or an account condemning sexual abuse, I could agree that maybe he grew up and learned and grew but I see no indication of that and THAT does tell me what kind of man he is.

You're literally comparing being horrified over a "joke" about having sex with a 5 year old girl, Of trans people being dead, to being offended by a South Park joke?!

This is a grown man literally liking "jokes" about SAing underage children and harming members of the LGBTQAI+. What this IS a case of is an actual indication of what Trevor's personality is like. You can say it says nothing about him as a person but I can assure you it does. Who you follow, who you like on social media, who has your attention is a VERY STRONG indication of the man you are. This man found these "jokes" funny enough to like them. I say that tells us exactly who he is.

Now I have yet to see any indication of "white people speaking over the poc in the convo" and I don't even know what that has to do with these fucking awful posts, but what I do see is an 18 year old child defending a man for his gross callousness and talking over women and victims in this conversation. I would go so far to say it's not as a POC that you don't give a fuck. It's as a male you don't give a fuck, plain and simple.

Maybe Trevor has grown but he should have known better even then. We are long past the age when these "memes" were acceptable if they ever were. These aren't funny, plain and simple, especially in light of him actually having SA allegations that seem a lot more substantial than any of the other cast members.

Brody is leaving The Outsiders. I'm both sad and elated.

Sad that we are losing Brody as Pony but elated to see what he does next. And also incredibly grateful that I got to see him, Brent, Jason and most of the original cast live.

So let's celebrate his incredible run.

Oooh I love these questions!

1: Throwing in the Towel. No hesitation. Throwing first grabbed me during the performance on the Today show and it has had a chokehold ever since. Don't get me wrong. I still love GE, GGAH, FAFT and of course both Tulsa '67. But Throwing in the Towel to be is the epitome of the show, of nearly giving in and wanting to but hanging on for through the "darkest of part of the darkest night". Not to mention I love the relationship between the three brothers and this is THE Curtis brothers' song.

11. This one is harder to answer! It started with the book. It's the thing that introduced me to the story and the characters and I was obsessed through most of middle school and high school. The movie only solidified that though I was so disappointed some of my favorite scenes were deleted until the complete novel version came out and the movie is certainly a product of it's time complete with 80s acting. But the musical...the musical has my heart. I finally got to see it a couple of weekends ago and OMG, it's so amazing live! Again, some things have changed but the musical really captured the essence of the whole thing. I don't know, it's just hard to describe. So I'm going to say the Musical, then the book, then the film but all three are incredible!

was scrolling through the reddit post that my post was used in and found a few screenshots of that group and what they’ve done in the past

you can find these all under the reddit post here, i’m trying to find a way to revive an older chat with a deactivated account because they had screenshots of that group being ableist towards staygolden, and i did have screenshots of them accusing her of being a pedophile because they didn’t get the book but she did. i’m trying to revive those.

i think it’s worth noting too that one of these girls made a few burners in order to contact me after i had blocked them. i know at least one of them is seeing my blog, and if you are, i want you to know that no. i’m not deleting this and im glad your shitty behavior is being exposed. there’s probably more screenshots on the reddit post that i haven’t seen, but i also wanna share a bit. if these people dm you, don’t give into it. all of them who have contacted me are the exact same, begging to take the posts down and acting all “but you’re so sweet and i wish more people were like you”. don’t feed into it because that’s what i did and that was a mistake. if this many fans are coming forward about you and your shitty behavior, then i will not believe that you are innocent.

like that reddit post said, “this isn’t drama, this is genuinely fucking dangerous”. i don’t like to involve myself with this kind of thing but i will ask you to reblog this, because it’s genuinely fucking dangerous for the actors and for the other fans. bring it to the show’s attention. do something. i know i said before that i wasn’t okay with having my post on reddit because if there was any chance of it being made up, i didn’t wanna be the middle man, but share this outside of tumblr if you have to, i don’t care.

this is genuinely dangerous and overall disgusting behavior. please let this reach the right people so that the actors and rest of the community are safe. i’ve been harassed by some of these girls too, they called me a rape defender and kept dming me and telling me to kill myself, they harassed me on my main through dms and through asks, and i know im not the only one.

hey there, i got word of this by a few people. i have no idea who to tell or how to get this out. but i do know that something has to be said. this is about a few well known outsiders accounts / fans. keep in mind, most of them are minors / early adulthood, but age doesn’t excuse shitty behavior, especially when the safety of others is in jeopardy. this is when a callout is needed!

myegolovesyou / kayla apparently had dinner with melody and recorded their whole conversation without mel’s consent. this person is an avid brody hater, which yk to each their own. its not my place to decide who people support or whatever; however, it’s madddd weird that they are actively crossing multiple boundaries with their platform like starting rumors, spreading hate, and acting as if they need to be on a pedestal. they need to be held accountable and deplatformed. im hoping someone sees this and informs melody too, so she can be cautioned as well and hopefully take her own safety precautions. this person has commissioned bootlegs with groups of fans and leaked all of them to somebody that posted every single one on youtube. they have now since been taken down, but the damage was done and it traces back to myegolovesyou.

same with mckenna, who openly admits to following cast members on their trains, out to their cars, and around grocery stores. i know for a fact she stalks emma and trevor. she started the rumors of brody being on probation? or something? saying she has friends in the cast who told her it. but, verified sources have said otherwise. and said verified source within the cast said they had no idea who she is or what she is talking about. she has also leaked bootlegs that are not hers, nor did she pay for, to the cast without the owner or commissioners knowledge, allegedly. hence why melody follows her. apparently owes money to people that rush with her too, which is estimated $100 or more.

there is a whole group chat of them that act like this. i cannot confirm who the others are, but i do know it’s a lot of the popular fan accounts. these are the same people that were ableist to a disabled fan, use slurs, use racist rhetoric in regards to some cast members, make brody r*pe jokes, spread misinformation about things, make up rumors about cast / fans, abuse and cut the rush line, make the cast insanely uncomfortable, and are just overall mean girls. there is screenshot proof of these claims that can be provided privately.

hopefully this is reaching the right people to spread awareness, especially to the community that this hurts, the actors involved, and others who interact with these people. no one is better than anyone here, nor is being parasocial cute. if you are actively starting drama and talking badly about people in the cast and in the fandom… why are you here and wasting your money? / gen. if you are “friends” with the cast, why are you rushing the show every day, stalking them, spreading rumors about them, talking negatively about them, being weird with them, etc? / gen.

respectfully, we need to do better and stop platforming these people. they need to grow up and stop making the community unsafe and toxic.

honestly i’m not one for spreading drama/promoting harassment, but i have heard some things about this group, and i think this fandom needs to learn to not put those people on a pedastol. the whole fandom severely disappoints me, and i honestly just stopped supporting the show because the fanbase has pushed me out, and the show itself should also be addressing these things. the cast shouldn’t have to address stuff like this. it’s the shows responsibility to provide safety for their actors and they are clearly gaiiling to do so. i blame the show and the community. stop letting people like this gain big followings. yes, i understand that some of them are kids, seeing that the fanbase is 95% 13-15 year old girls, but it’s just so obnoxious. you can’t even excuse it with “they’re kids they don’t know any better” because as someone older than those kids, it’s your job to educate them and tell them what’s wrong with what they’re doing.

i’m not promoting harassment so much as i am spreading awareness-please don’t harass those accounts, that’s just stooping to their level, but as a community we need to grow and learn from these things. seeing things like this makes me lose any respect i had for the community/show as a whole. you can’t even smexcuse it when the show is raising prices the way they are and keeps reposting the casts tiktok’s, which is all fine and good, i don’t give a shit, but if you can do that then you should be able to address the problem at hand and ban these people from the show, that’s more so what they need rather than being deplatforner. i’m surprised that brody allegedly is renewing his contract. i hope whoever stays gets treated better than they have been the last year.
