GOOD GET ALL THESE FUCKERS OUT!
Honestly shows how toxic the culture is throughout the league when you've got 5 coaches resigned/fired because abuse in one year...
Rory Dames, Richie Burke, Christy Holly, Paul Riley and Farid Benstiti need to be put some kind of no hire list and banned from working in soccer, or with women, again.

“I think Rory emotionally abuses players,” Christen Press, a U.S. national team star and former player for the Red Stars, wrote in notes compiled for a formal complaint about Dames, which was reviewed by The Post. “He doesn’t have a safe distance between himself and his players. He uses his power and status as the coach to manipulate players and get close to them.” Becca Roux, executive director of the national team player’s union, confirmed that the contents of the complaint were reported to U.S. Soccer in early 2018.

Press is among seven players who told The Post they believed Dames had been emotionally abusive to them or their teammates, including five players who said they sought to be traded or leave the team because of it. Some spoke on the condition of anonymity, fearing that speaking publicly could jeopardize their future in women’s soccer, where most coaches, general managers and team executives are men.
“Things were happening that were inappropriate,” Press said in an interview. “But I’d been told to be quiet, that this was fine.”
After The Post presented the Red Stars with a summary of players’ claims, a team spokeswoman, Natalie Bauer Luce, issued a statement that vowed an “independent review of player health and safety and the team’s work culture,” but did not address specific allegations. Hours later, the team announced Dames would resign.

and idgaf tbh because we got called insane for speaking out against crs but i’d go as far as to say that some of the people acting shocked right now KNEW and still decided to shit on these players just because they didn’t like them. fuck them too.

I hope every racist motherfucker who went after cp for the Houston trade has a horrible day btw
She literally reported abuse at chicago, played for 3 more years, and then was essentially revenge traded and took agency over her career after being hurt and the entire fandom decided she was a ‘spoiled diva/brat’ and I hope y’all pay for that because no player deserves to feel unheard and hurt for trying to take agency. That reaction prevented so many from attempting the same. fuck you.

AGREED!
she’s had no rest for nearly the entirety of her career, if not her entire career. from her rookie experience with magicjack to the league folding and having to go abroad to the crs situation to the dash situation and going abroad again to her mom’s situation to the louisville situation and everything in between that we don’t know about. she has never had rest. it’s about damn time that she takes all the time she needs and everyone lets her.

The Washington Post just released an article about Rory Dames’s abuse of his players. I’m using my subscription to gift this article so hopefully people are able to read it. Huge trigger warning for emotional abuse.

this shit is so sick and twisted.
i’ve dealt w/ emotional abuse from my parents growing up and it’s so damaging and also hard to get people to do anything about or believe it’s “really that bad”. i can’t imagine having to deal with this in a professional environment where your livelihood is at stake, and an entire system is against you and trying to silence you. i’m fortunate to have never have to deal w/ this in the workplace, especially after such an emotionally abusive childhood. but so many are not and as hard as it is to hear some of these stories, it’s important that we do.
i’m so sorry christen had to go thru this, and for all these players who’ve had to suffer at the hands of these abusers and the people who enabled them. it took a lot of courage and bravery for them to speak out and do what they did back then, and for them to do what they’re doing and speak out now. i have so much admiration and respect for these women, and my heart breaks for what they experienced and how so many people and entities failed them.
MAJOR CHANGE NEEDS TO HAPPEN. let’s hope this is just a small start of bigger things to come and that it empowers more women and players to speak up.
Thank you to christen press and all the brave women who’ve ever spoken out about these things. It’s terrible what you went through and it should NEVER have happened. But what you’re doing is important and WILL make a difference. We’ll make sure of it.

“I was terrified of what Rory would do and say if he found out this was something I’d said,” Press said of her decision to speak up to U.S. Soccer officials in 2014. “And then I was made to feel by U.S. Soccer that I was in the wrong, there was nothing to report, and that this was acceptable”

If Christen doesn’t put her name, and Jen Hoy, this story loses relevance. You’re conscious, right? You need a name, she fucking cares. She always cared.
