Op 25 mei zijn het verkiezingen: regionaal, federaal én ook Europees. En het is vooral dat laatste wat Tess Vonck van MO* Magazine bezighoudt.

Tess Vonck, één van onze jongeturken, trekt in de aanloop naar de Europese verkiezingen voor drie maand met de trein door 28 lidstaten van Europa, zoveel als er zetels in het parlement hebben. Ze slaapt en brengt verslag uit vanop de zetels van jonge Europeanen ter plaatse. Haar project kan op veel weerklank rekenen. Zo brengt ze regelmatig ook verslag uit in het Radio 1-programma De Bende van Einstein.

The first medical school opened in British colonial Uganda in the 1920s and competition for a place was so tough that “to get in you had to be a genius,” according to one young aspirant. Power cuts and water shortages in hospitals kill thousands of patients each year, and emergency operations on pregnant women are sometimes carried out by the light of torches made from burning grass.
