If you are going to be DMing people in the kink community
1. Respect the fact that not everyone wants to talk.
There are a wide variety of reasons why people feel like talking or not talking privately and most of them are not any judgement on you. Maybe they are too tired to talk, have personal things going on in their life currently, are in a relationship where they don’t feel comfortable talking with strangers, are already in a number of conversations currently and don’t have the mental bandwidth to add more, or are just not interested in talking to anyone new.
2. If someone does decide to talk to you please treat them as actual human beings.
No matter how dirty or sexual their posts or reblogs may be that isn’t necessarily or usually how they want strangers to start a conversation off with them. Nobody here exists only for your sexual gratification. Most people prefer to at least get to know a person for a little while until they feel comfortable diving into more sexual topics. This doesn’t have to take days but at least spending some time to introduce yourself and treat them with respect is needed. Nobody submits or dominates someone from the first message, how can they? They don’t even know you.
3. It’s ok for conversations to not go places.
Everyone has different interests and chemistry and even conversations that start friendly might run into roadblocks if that chemistry fails to continue or manifest. Or the other persons life or mental health might not all for them to keep talking. Don’t take it personally and absolutely don’t send nasty messages to someone even if you feel rejected.
4. If someone engages with you sexually or sends you photos or videos. Guard that content with your life.
If someone decides to trust you with sexual conversations or sends you sexual content of yourself. That should all remain in the chat and never leave the chat for any reason. That is meant for you and only you while you both hand a friendly or romantic relationship. It’s not for you to share, post, or even save outside of the conversation unless you have gotten consent to save it. Once your relationship with that person ends its ethical for you to delete any content they gave you out of respect. It’s also important to remember that revenge porn is also illegal in many areas (recently heard a story about a guy who has to work three jobs just keep up with his payments to his victim after being charged with revenge porn) if you need any extra motivation not to share.
5. Respect people’s gender and sexual preferences.
If someone states on their profile that they do not want to interact or be contacted by someone of a particular gender or sexuality please respect that. They made that clear for a reason so be respectful of their preferences.
People want to connect with cool like minded and respectful people on here. Not everyone is gonna be a match for you but almost certainly some will if you go about it in a nice way. If you don’t feel like you can respect any of these rules then it’s better if you take some time and evaluate how you interact with people first.

Penlight - A Quick Review
Download Penlight (Pay what you like) from Itch.io here
My detailed Penlight route reviews: Nozomi Routes - Sayori (Part 1 - Doll) - Sayori (Part 2 - Alter)
Turq's reviews: Hiroko Robot - Hiroko Tickling - Nozomi Zo
So I have spent the past week going through every route I possibly could of Penlight.
On Sleepyhead's Discord we ran a session of it on stream and a group of us were watching as two characters shyly open up about their hypnokink and the chat was alive with nostalgia over our own awkward starts into this kink and it was evident that the game knew our experiences well.
If you want my tl;dr review it is this: Penlight is a story written with love for hypnokink as a whole and a wariness of the toxic elements of the culture that it intends to subvert at every turn. It's a game about ethics, responsibility, trust and exploration from the perspective of someone who very clearly understands the ins and outs of this kink.
Download it for free on Itch. Support the Patreon. Play the game and enjoy it.
Now for the full ramble:
Penlight is a visual novel coded in Ren'py, a platform I have some experience with from my brief time as a member of a game developer circle.
The basic storyline is that you play Kyou Koyama, an 18 year old student about to take his college entrance exams. His entire secondary school career he has had his eyes on a classmate, Nozomi Akemi and after witnessing her volunteer for a stage hypnosis session during the prior year's cultural festival he has gone all in on learning hypnosis and has developed a tool that will help him win the affections of his crush...
So far this sounds like any old H-Game with a protagonist getting his hands on a brainwashing device, ready to go on a rampage... that's intentional. The tropes are set to make this seem like one of those games.
But have some faith and patience.
See, Kyou is viewed by the school as a creeper. He's been friendless for 3 years of his secondary school life and has spent much of that time longing for Nozomi's attention. He's not quite subtle about this, either.
Some routes have Kyou in a very self-defeating and angry state of mind where he feels victimized by the world and hated on. I admit it's not fun to have a perspective character being a shithead but I suppose that incentivizes the audience to improve him as soon as possible...
Part of Kyou's resentment comes from the fact that the hostility he faces is not all in his head. Just mostly.
Nozomi has two close friends, Hiroko the spunky tennis star who will routinely tell Kyou to go fuck himself and Sayori the smartest girl in class who harbors her own resentment for Kyou's devil-may-care approach to life. They both work overtime running interference for Nozomi to ensure her stalker will not get an opportunity to approach.
But Kyou is eventually given some time alone with Nozomi during an after school cleaning session and the game's thesis statement is made clear with the very first option in the game:
From here the game will branch off into a number of branching stories where Kyou and his classmates discover that he actually does possess a brainwashing device, even as he attempts to utilize mundane hypnosis skills. Anyone who looks at the penlight is helpless to resist and it will rewrite their brains to comply with the suggestions.
In my view the Penlight represents years and years of toxic approaches in a relationship with hypnosis all condensed down into a week. My thread on ethical personality play was entirely inspired by playing the Personality Play route and despite the lack of malice, Kyou makes severe mistakes which reflect mistakes that I have experienced in my life.
The penlight is simply a narrative device that takes years of conditioning and condenses the consequences, regrets and repercussions into a single week.
Fantastic storytelling for fables on how important safety and consent are.
At time of writing there are over 180 CG images, 33 endings with 14 unique routes. More being added every month via Patreon.
The themes of the game explore communication in exploring kink, trust within hypnosis play and safety. The terminology is really good and the understanding of how real life hypnokink is mostly good, spare for a few moments like "thousands" of people tuning in to a hypnosis livestream. Even our biggest and best content creators and streamers cap at 400 or so viewers.
Phrases like "hypnotee" and "hidden observer" which are used entirely within hypnosis circles get thrown around accurately and organically and many routes involve characters describing real world applications from hypnotherapy, anesthetic aid during surgery and even the ins and outs of how a stage hypnosis routine is performed behind the scenes and in-front of an audience.
Angela DeMille knows her stuff.
Nozomi Akemi also knows her stuff.
I'll go into spoilers and my more in-depth thoughts in the coming weeks/months but I wanted to at least break down the core three paths that you can pick and why they appeal.
Nozomi: In this route a repressed woman on the aroace spectrum meets someone who shares her kink and dives in too fast and too deep into her hobby. The route explores compartmentalizing kink and personal life, internalized shame for having sexual interests, "the slope" of chasing new peaks of a thrilling kink and losing regard to safeties and themes of "using" people for access to kink.
Sayori: In this route Kyou offers to help an overworked classmate with her sleep schedule. Regardless of your branching choices (Personality Play route or Doll Play route) it begins with a lack of security. Sayori starts the route feeling unsafe and afraid and your choices will lead to either damage being mitigated or becoming more than can be handled. Consequences, respect and honoring someone's wishes are all explored to their full.
Hiroko: In this route Kyou and his nemesis, Nozomi's best friend, craft an uneasy alliance where they explore hypnosis as a tool for focus in sport. Trust is at the core of this route with the two intensely disliking one another and constantly attempting to even their power dynamics via prank based hostility. This route is about crafting rapport, about belief in one another (which can even be hijacked for a "Gullible" route) and can lead to a beautiful friendship.
The game is amazing and I highly recommend you check it out.
...anyway. I'm gonna write about each route in a little more detail sometime in the future. I have so much to say about all the different little things like the consistencies between routes, the dramatic ironies of knowing things to be true in some routes and experiencing things that build upon that in others, the specific warnings and cautions at play and of course answer the question "who is best girl?"
But for now I just wanted people to have my whole-hearted recommendation.
Go download Penlight. It's hosted on Itch.io and is being updated monthly.

Can you imagine how cute you would look standing naked, staring blankly into spirals as programming flowed through headphones into your empty mind?
Can you imagine how fuckable you would look as you were being repurposed to obey?

Flirting with a sub while their mind is blank is one of the hottest things you can do as a tist.
It's all so hot. The way their demeanor changes upon hearing you call them adorable, the absent-minded showing off when you make a comment on how a certain body part looks. The rolling eyes, and their moans, and their mumbled "thank you" after any sort of compliment, their brains breaking from all the praise they're recieving.
The most arousing part, however, is seeing their self esteem change. A lot of people are self-concious, or have trouble calling themselves cute. But when they're hypnotized, their minds mold to your words, turning even the most self-deprecating subs into whimpering toys, mindlessly telling you about how cute they are and how pretty they feel~
And if there's one thing subs really deserve, it's the knowlwdge that they are all really cute and pretty, especially when they're moaning all their thoughts away <3

To my budding hypnotists out there.
It takes time. Be patient and HAVE FUN.
Fun is the key word. Interest will carry you but fun will keep you interested when you're out here fishing for subjects. Keep learning and practicing. You don't need a subject to practice. You can practice on yourself too.
Study up and enjoy yourself.

How not to be an abusive kinky hypnotist
CW: examples of abuse and rape
Inspired by something I saw on Fetlife, I decided to write a list of common consent violations in our kinky subculture. These guidelines are not hard and fast rules, but following them might decrease the chances you accidentally abuse or assault someone as a hypnotist.
Don't rape people. I'm fucking serious. Don't insert any part of your body into any of their orifices without their explicit consent. Not even your fingers. Don't remove the condom without their consent. Just don't rape.
Just check in with them. If at any time during the scene you're not sure if they're still having a good time, if they look uncomfortable, if you're not sure what that facial expression or that silence means, just ask them how they're doing. Hypnotised people can let you know how they're doing, all you have to do is ask.
Negotiate before the scene, not during the scene. Even if you wake them up from trance, they might be altered enough to have a lapse in judgement.
If you're not sure whether you should proceed, it's always safer to stop the scene than to continue.
If your trance partner tells you "no sexual stuff", you need to ask them what that means. To many people, a fully clothed, no touch orgasm is still "sexual stuff". An imagined scene in trance can be terribly sexual, even if you don't actually touch your fully clothed partner. Don't assume what their words mean, always ask them to elaborate. And don't assume that everyone likes orgasms!
Don't give them any triggers or suggestions that outlast your scene without their explicit consent. It's especially not ok to suggest to them to contact you or have another scene with you. Don't fucking trance them to make them play with you again. NOT OK!
If you're trancing someone for the first time, make it more about practice or getting to know each other's limits, and less about sexy play, especially if they've never done kinky hypnosis before.
If you're trancing someone for the first time, do it at an event where such a scene is appropriate
If they are much younger than you, new to the scene and/or if they went to a workshop or class your taught, there is a power differential in your interaction with them. You have more experience and/or authority than they do and this makes it harder for them to set boundaries or say no to you. The safest way to not cross their boundaries is to decline to trance them. If you do decide to proceed, tread very carefully. Check in often. Err on the side of caution.
If someone tells you, you have crossed one of their boundaries, believe them, and have a serious talk. Don't belittle their experience or say your intention wasn't to harm. Accept you did harm, and listen to what the person you harmed needs to heal. And then do those things, even if they are not fun for you (like: not go to certain parties for a while)
Many of these points were inspired consent violations that have actually happened in the hypnokink community. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Step 1. Buy your sub a pair of bone conduction headphones and irder them to wear them at all times.
Step 2. Record your sub saying a range of phrases such as "i am obedient", " am i hungry right now?", when was the last time i took a break?", "i feel so horny", and so on
Step 3. Use sound editing software to deepen the recordings until they match how your sub hears their own voice
Step 4. Create a sound board of those recordings and link it to a dedicated messaging service so where ever your sub is you can activate it
Step 5. Enjoy being able to inject thoughts directly i to your subs head whenever you want and where ever they are
