Calisto was not the type to take orders usually. She preferred giving them. Playing the director of someone else’s plan was a different and uncomfortable position for her, but she’d do it for the sake of her Morlocks — and perhaps a little bit of pleasure in seeing someone who would so eagerly destroy them suffering a little bit.
She didn’t trust Mystique as far as even Subder could throw her, but this made sense. She’d play along with it for now. Plus, it gave some of the Morlocks a chance to get out their aggression on something other than each other.
She heard the boy approach before she saw him. She’d been prepared for a fight, of course. But maybe not with a kid.
“Get here out of here.” She said, nodding to the Morlocks holding onto their hostage. I’ll deal with this.
How she was going to do that, she didn’t know. Heartless as Cal could come across, that wasn’t totally the case. This boy didn’t look like he could be much older than her Sarah. That alone gave her some hesitation to joy just draw her knife on him.
“Nothing that concerns you, kid.” She said, turning to face him. “Run along now.”
Library Attack
Billy noted the poster as he entered the library and pressed his lips together in a thin line.   While he understood and often appreciated the neutral ground most of the time, this he saw more as preaching hate than knowledge.    Still he had books to return and moved towards the desk to start putting them on the counter.
He forced himself to relax and offered the librarian a smile as he put the books down, only to see her freeze.    Taken aback Billy looked at her, only to turn and follow her line of sight to the door.   Now he froze as he saw a group of mutants dragging someone towards the library doors.  Most of them obscured by the figures grappling with them.  Whatever was happening it couldn’t be good.
Abandoning his books on the counters he inhaled a deep breath and headed towards the group.   “Hey, what are you doing?!”

Callisto rolled her eyes. She knew the phrase, remembered it from another lifetime. The pretentiousness id it got under her skin. The entitlement that she could barely even remember having herself now. “You could say that.” She scoffed. “And if you really want to challenge it, you can. I can tell you that it won’t end well though.”
morlockcal‌:
Tumblr media
Cal straightened, her uncovered eye taking a moment to adjust to the light being shone into them. If her mutation hadn’t already made her senses more attuned to life in the dark, years of living in these tunnels certainly would have. It was sometimes hard to even remember what life under bright lights was like. “There is, yeah. She replied, arms crossed  in front of her. “It’s cause for concern when you are trespassing.”
Tumblr media
“Trespassing… Cuius est solum, eius est usque ad coelum et ad inferos.” Beck mutters the Latin phrase, the vaguest hint of laughter threatening to emerge from the depths of his throat, held back purely due to the dank stench  of their immediate surroundings. There’s a minor shift of water underfoot as the developer takes a small step forwards, head canted to one side as steely eyes peer down at the woman. “I didn’t realise you held a deed  of sorts to all  the tunnels under Manhattan. You must have incredible  reach.”

Cal straightened, her uncovered eye taking a moment to adjust to the light being shone into them. If her mutation hadn't already made her senses more attuned to life in the dark, years of living in these tunnels certainly would have. It was sometimes hard to even remember what life under bright lights was like. “There is, yeah. She replied, arms crossed  in front of her. “It's cause for concern when I are trespassing.”
morlockcal‌:
Cal raised an eyebrow at the mention of location scouting. While there had been a few exceptions, most cases of anyone other than the Morlocks looking to use these tunnels for anything did not bode well for them.  Trespassers in her territory rarely seemed to come in peace. “Recreation. In a sewer.”  Her tone made her suspicion clear. This was hardly an area she could imagine anyone coming for fun. “If you didn’t, I might be questioning your employer.”
Tumblr media
Quentin’s expression grows stony, scarcely blinking as he looks the other over amidst the shadows - he didn’t  appreciate this underlying degree of questioning, bothered  by her presence regardless of whether this was her godforsaken home. The man hadn’t ventured down here alone, members of his team having decided to split up ( a classic trope from horror movies if he ever did see one ) to venture towards other prospective junctures. Giving a small tilt of his head, the engineer tries to downplay matters, injecting a sense of nonchalance. “Is there a problem?” Spine straightening, the flashlight is drawn towards her, curiously peering at the woman in a bid to take note of anything out of the ordinary. “I didn’t realise me being here would be cause for concern.”

HOZIER SENTENCE STARTERS
taken from hozier’s first album & his ep from eden. feel free to change pronouns, etc!
TAKE ME TO CHURCH
‘ you’re the giggle at a funeral. ’ ‘ i should’ve worshiped you sooner. ’ ‘ if the heavens ever did speak, you’re the last true mouthpiece. ’ ‘ the only heaven i’ll be sent to is when i’m alone with you. ’ ‘ i was born sick, but i love it. ’ ‘ i’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies. ’ ‘ i’ll tell you my sins, and you can sharpen your knife. ’ ‘ let me give you my life. ’ ‘ if i’m a pagan of the good times, my lover’s the sunlight. ’ ‘ that looks tasty. ’ ‘ there is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin. ’
ANGEL OF SMALL DEATH & THE CODEINE SCENE
‘ we’re shaking the wings of our terrible youths. ’ ‘ i lurched like a stray to the arms that were open. ’ ‘ with your sweetened breath and your tongue so mean, you’re the angel of small death and the codeine scene. ’ ‘ i lay my heart down with the rest at your feet. ’ ‘ it’s bloody and raw, but i swear it is sweet. ’
JACKIE AND WILSON
‘ so tired trying to see from behind the red in my eyes. ’ ‘ you found me just in time. ’ ‘ i never felt young. ’ ‘ you’re gonna save me. ’ ‘ call me ‘baby,’ run your hands through my hair. ’ ‘ we’ll steal a lexus, be detectives, ride around picking up clues. ’ ‘ it’d be great to find a place we could escape to sometime. ’ ‘ i’m happy to lie back, watch it burn and rust. ’ ‘ i tried the world; good god, it wasn’t for me. ’
SOMEONE NEW
‘ you knew who i was with every step that i ran to you. ’ ‘ would things be easier if there was a right way? there is no right way. ’ ‘ i fall in love just a little bit every day with someone new. ’ ‘ there’s an art to life’s distraction. ’ ‘ some like to imagine the dark caress of someone else; i guess any thrill will do. ’
TO BE ALONE
‘ i never feel to good in crowds with folks around. ’ ‘ all i’ve ever done is hide. ’ ‘ when you kill the lights and kiss my eyes, i feel like a person for a moment of my life. ’ ‘ you don’t know what hell you put me through. ’ ‘ it feels good to be alone with you. ’ ‘ now at last the worst is over. ’ ‘ i know you hate this place. not a trace of me would argue. ’ ‘ we should run away. ’
FROM EDEN
‘ there’s something tragic about you. ’ ‘ there’s something so magic about you. ’ ‘ there’s something lonesome about you - something so wholesome about you. ’ ‘ get closer to me. ’ ‘ you’re familiar. ’ ‘ idealism sits in prison; chivalry fell on its sword. ’ ‘ innocence died screaming - ask me, i should know. ’ ‘ i slithered here from eden just to sit outside your door. ’ ‘ there’s something wretched about this. ’ ‘ there’s something so precious about this. ’ ‘ to the strand, a picnic planned for you and me - a rope in hand for your other man to hang from a tree. ’
IN A WEEK
‘ i have never known peace. ’ ‘ i have never known hunger like these insects that feast on me. ’ ‘ we’ll lay here for years or for hours - thrown here or found, to freeze or to thaw - so long we become the flowers. ’ ‘ they’d find us in a week. ’ ‘ i’d be home with you. ’ ‘ i have never known colours like this morning reveals to me. ’ ‘ you haven’t moved an inch; such that i would not know if you sleep always like this, the flesh calmly growing cold. ’
SEDATED
‘ just a little rush, babe, to feel dizzy, to derail the mind of me. ’ ‘ my veins are busy, but my heart’s in atrophy. ’ ‘ you and i, nursing on a poison that never stung - our teeth and lungs are lined with the scum of it. ’ ‘ free and young, and we can feel none of it. ’ ‘ i’m somewhere outside my life. i keep scratching, but somehow i can’t get in. ’ ‘ i’m a slave to any semblance of touch. ’ ‘ i should cool it, but i love it too much. ’ ‘ don’t you stand there watching, won’t you come and save me? ’ ‘ don’t you join in, you’re supposed to drag me away from it. ’

mysteriomanifesto‌:
Steely eyes trail over the scampering creatures, the man holding his breath for a few moments as he attempts to discern whether there are any underlying sounds that may be cause for alarm - there aren’t any at the moment but that piece of information does little to quell his disquiet temperament ( agitated ). While Beck knew of some dwelling within the tunnels, he hadn’t been expecting company so soon, his line of vision soon lifting back towards the woman with her query. “I’ve been tasked to find a suitable location for an upcoming project, purely recreational—” It’s relatively dark so he doesn’t feel the need to overly mask his displeasure, features twisting into a grimace that borders on discomfort. “…but I think I may have taken a wrong turning along the way.”
Tumblr media
Cal raised an eyebrow at the mention of location scouting. While there had been a few exceptions, most cases of anyone other than the Morlocks looking to use these tunnels for anything did not bode well for them.  Trespassers in her territory rarely seemed to come in peace. “Recreation. Cal leaned against the sewer wall, hand one her chin as her eyes followed the direction the stranger was watching, unbothered by the dark conditions. While she could see where the curiousity could come in for someone that did not call these tunnels home, Cal didn’t see much cause for alarm...yet. It may warrant further investigation and then she could determine if there was need for worthy based on whether this was coming from one of her’s or not. “And that concerns you how?” She asked, her voice disinterested and off putting, “Particularly if you don’t like vermin.”
Tumblr media
[ x ] @morlockcal said: “Care to elaborate? There’s a lot of odd things that happen.”
Tumblr media
The small flashlight grasped in Beck’s palm deviates away from the woman before him, opting to concernedly trail over the floor as cloying inky hues contend with trickling water - the developer is inherently grateful for his foresight in choosing a sturdier set of boots as opposed to his usual smart footwear, traipsing footsteps within the tunnels having resulted in a significant level of splashback ( gross ). “For one, the rats seem to be running towards whatever’s at the end of this juncture, and not away. I’m not a fan of vermin but that seems highly irregular.”

SENTENCE MEME ⟶ TWILIGHT ZONE / 2.01 –– 2.04 always feel free to tweak the sentence to fit your muse.
“War spits out its violence overhead, and the sandy graveyard swallows it up.”
“Piece it together.”
“I may have been out for hours.”
“There’s logic for everything.”
“I just have to keep it cool, that’s all.”
“Think about it rationally.”
“It’s strictly not funny.”
“I’m responsible for you guys.”
“All of this is just what I’m making up in my mind.”
“You can trust me.”
“It doesn’t make any difference because you’re an illusion.”
“You don’t even exist.”
“I don’t exist any more than you do.”
“There isn’t a thing, not a single thing that’s real.”
“The more you realize it, the more you’ll feel better for it.”
“You’re going to be alright.”
“I think the worst part of it is over.”
“That illusion certainly seems real to him.”
“Odd how the real consorts with the shadows, how the present fuses with the present.”
“Quite a bit of rain for this time of the year.”
“Been in my family for years and years.”
“It’s supposed to be very valuable.”
“If I could spare a dollar, I’d give it to you, believe me.”
“I’m so in debt myself.”
“We’re just around the corner from bankruptcy.”
“You promised me no more handouts.”
“A man can be a failure for only so long, and then it catches up with him.”
“It isn’t just an antique shop where you pick up the pitiful remnants of other people’s failures, it’s a shrine to failure itself.”
“It’s a mausoleum, a burial ground for people’s hopes.”
“We’re not old people, and yet this place is making us old.”
“That hope chest will be opened, and an improbable phantom will try to bedeck the drabness of these people’s failure-laden lives with the gold and precious stones of fulfillment.”
“There’s something unholy about this.”
“We’ve already given away a lot of money.”
“It was my suggestion that you reflect very carefully.”
“I’d be afraid to have you try for fear of the consequences.”
“There are simply normal and understandable outgrowths and conditions that go with any windfall.”
“No matter what you wish for, you must be prepared for the consequences.”
“I wish I were back where it all started.”
“Since we obviously can’t afford a brand new life, suppose we give the old one a paint job or something.”
“A word to the wise now to the garbage collectors of the world, the curio seekers, to the antique buffs, to everyone who would try to coax out a miracle from unlikely places.”
“I’ve been sitting here waiting for you.”
“Where some men leave a mark of their lives as a record of their fragmentary existence on earth, this man leaves a blot –– a dirty, discolored blemish to document a cheap and undistinguished sojourn.”
“In this room is a strange mortal combat between a man and himself.”
“You could get roasted to death, or poisoned by small creatures.”
“I’d like some decent odds for a change.”
“I don’t mind a little shakedown, but it’s just that I’m getting all the hard stuff.”
“That kind of stuff ain’t for me.”
“He’s always giving us trouble.”
“I’ve never done anything like this before.”
“You never did a job like this because you never could do a job like this.”
“That’s how you’re going to get away with it.”
“Why am I scared all the time?”
“You’re not running out on me this time.”
“You ain’t lost your marbles yet and I mean to see that you keep them.”
“Everything you do is everything to me.”
“You think I can keep quiet now while you go out and get us both killed?”
“How come every move I made turned out wrong?”
“Every time I tried to talk to you, you listened to somebody else.”
“She tried to set you straight.”
“I want to live the dreams you dreamed and never had the guts to live.”
“You got nothing but pain inside.”
“I’m going to take your skin off foot by foot.”
“Tell me what’s wrong with that miracle of modern science.”
“Last time I was over here, you kicked your foot through the screen.”
“I have a vivid recollection, thank you.”
“Supposing we stop this moronic small talk and get down to some serious larceny?”
“They don’t work properly because you don’t treat them properly.”
“I assume there’ll be an extra charge for that analysis?”
“Aside from being a rather incompetent clod, you’re a very unreceptive man.”
“I shall file that idiotic question in my memorabilia to be referred to at some future date when I write my memoirs.”
“He’s a bachelor and a recluse with few friends, only devotees and adherents to the cause of tart sophistry.”
“He has no interests save whatever current annoyances he can put his mind to.”
“He has no purpose to his life except the formulation of day-to-day opportunities to vent his wrath on mechanical contrivances of an age he abhors.”
“Did I ever tell you with what degree of distaste I view insubordination?”
“I wish you’d stay for a bit.”
“I’d like very much not to be alone for awhile.”
“I’m desperately tired. I haven’t slept for four nights.”
“The thought of being alone just now is intolerable.”
“Things have been happening, very odd things.”
“For as long as I have lived, I have never been able to operate machines.”
“I am a logical, rational, intelligent man.”
“I’ve been seeing and hearing a collection of mechanical frankenstein monsters whose whole purpose is to destroy me.”
“I think you’re terribly ill and need medical attention.”
“You’re suffering from a bad case of nerves due to lack of sleep and these are nothing more than delusions.”
“In this conspiracy you speak of, this mortal combat between you and the appliances, I hope you lose.”
“You’re not going to intimidate me.”
“How is my favorite, attractive young widow?”
“Their whole existence is dedicated to embarrassing me or irritating me or making my life miserable.”
“I wonder what it was that could have scared him.”
“He succumbed from a heart attack and a set of delusions.”
“It could just be that he was tormented by an imagination as sharp as his wit and as pointed as his dislikes.”
