I said in an interview 13 years ago "I'm just hoping that I have a second album that does as well as the first and someday get to be a headliner, and always be the same person that I started out as.” Scrolling through your posts today has me feeling all the feelings & I want to thank you. Because of you, there was a 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th and 7th album. You guys made me into a headliner because you wanted to see me play. And your support all these years is what’s helped me stay true to that kid I was when I started out. #13YearsOfTaylor
Sometimes people ask me about taylor. They ask me what my favorite song is or why I like her, and when they do, I always go back to the memories I have with her songs.
I can’t help but remember when I heard Love Story for the first time or when All Too Well made me promise myself to listen to every album she were to put out after that.
I go back to the first time I listened to enchanted, or when I was a freshmen in high school living fifteen word by word.
How I so often feel that I don’t want to grow up or the times I felt like living life on the outside.
I have learned heartbreak leads us to good things, and now All too well doesn’t remind me of the times I cried sad tears to it in my room, but the time I screamed that song to her in a stadium along with thousands of people on the last day of the American part of the reputation tour.
I was flooded by all those memories on a weekday afternoon and I decided to do the only thing I do when these things happen: I wrote a song.
I don’t ask for this a lot but I would really like for taylor to see this. She is one of the reasons why I started writing my feelings on poems and songs, so it would mean the world to me if she knew that.
I wrote a song to the girl who writes songs and it is one I wrote from my heart. I hope it speaks to yours.

Everything I’ve learned about a ‘reputation’ and how little it really means when defined by those who do not know you, I’ve learned from the fans whose spirits lit up these stadiums. Thanks to you, I’m doing better than I ever was.

I grew up listening to Sugar, We’re Goin’ Down by Fall Out Boy. And one of my FAVORITE lyrics from that song was always:
I always found it to be so clever.
So, when I heard Dress for the first time, I was FLOORED that she wrote the lyric:
It’s a clever way of describing that Joe is her one and only love.
For those who aren’t aware— the act of marking notches in your bedpost is a reference to counting/keeping track of your sexual encounters. That’s why “I’m just a notch on your bedpost” means I’m just another one of your ex-lovers.
So the fact that Taylor is telling him to carve his name into her bedpost is saying that he’s permanent, he’s special, he’s not just another tally.
