I’m writing this here because I already know that some cynical person is going to write something about squid game saying something along the lines of ‘the squid game just brought out the violent ideals of the people that were already there, that’s why it works’ or something similar, but I would just like to say:

Humans are naturally altruistic. 

There have been thousands of studies, thousands of surveys, that prove that even through childhood, kids and people naturally help people with no benefit to themselves. The only motivation for the squid games contestants is rooted in capitalism. 

 Could you tell me honestly, if those people were in that game, still with a death consequence, but with no money prize, that they would still kill each other? Even in the game WITH money motivation, characters like Ali saved Seong-Gi Hun, even though it could’ve killed him. Kang Sae-byok is saved by Ji-yeong, simply because she thought she was more deserving. Not deserving of the money, but deserving to live. 

If all the characters who were forced into the game, were living comfortably, had free food and water, free shelter, then the game would not exist, as it would have no contestants.

I really hope I don’t see any pessimist saying something that it’s violent because humans are violent, but if I do I now have this saved at least.

nothing has made me more viscerally upset that World of Warcraft (original) has fucked up the levelling system so exponentially that I can no longer enjoy the experience of following through the different areas and levelling at a normal pace, getting the rewards such as riding a horse at level 20 and flying at level 60, and generally enjoying the story just because the most popular part of the game is now PvP and raiding, the parts which i both do not enjoy as much as simply playing Make Friends DnD. and that World of Warcraft Classic literally just dusted off the version from 2004 and just went yep thats it. an extra 20 dollars. same ugly graphics. Would it have been that hard to remaster the graphics and just keep the same levelling/story/raiding?
