Radio Drama evaluation
Throughout unit 5-7 and seven I found that doing a video drama is harder than I thought, by this I mean that producing a visual radio drama is easier than producing a audio video drama what does this mean, well what I mean by this is that you do something that does not have visual understanding it's a lot harder to create other than something that has visual understanding therefore meaning you need to put more work into it.
In conclusion I think making a radio drama is a good idea and a fun way to experiment with sound.

Why did I chose this drama to compare to our drama? well we wanted ours to be a crime drama so that’s exactly what we made It, on this drama that we compered this is also a bit of a crime drama however it is mainly a Horror but it had aspects of crime in it.

Radio Evaluation
Synopsis: For our Radio Drama we had made a bit of a crime drama, by this I mean that there is a Son and a Farther who love each other very much and can’t bear to be apart, one day the son comes home and talks to his Farther when suddenly he gets a phone call. (After booking the sound room we started to write a script based on a grandad and grandson who are at home).
The phone call is from one of his friends who is doing some weird activity, all of a sudden the police bust through the door and they take the Son away when the Farther is starting to have a heart attack. When we started recording our radio drama we realised that it sounded too scripted, so therefor we decided to take a risk and improvised our scenes which could have gone two ways. I think this went really well as we all felt more in character and were able to give a better performance. Post-Production: After finishing all the Sound stuff and recording we started on the on the editing, the editing was fairly easy to do and we managed to do it well. Conclusion: Overall I think the production went awfully due to the fact of how we needed to improvise some of the parts which gave it a better outcome; however what we could’ve done better is actually created a better script and worked around.

Evaluation For Units 5-7
For Units 5, 6 and 7 we had to make and produce and Visual and Radio Drama and show it was made. For our Visual drama we needed to come up with an idea on what we could do so, It was me (Ben) Lewis and Nathan working in a group together when we decided to go with a Plan that Nathan had.
Nathans idea was about a sort of joker style drama meaning that it was a bit crazy and very well planned, however we had talked and developed on Nathan’s plan, his original plan was to keep it simple and play as a joker however the three of us decided to make the main suspect have Schizophrenia ( Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by abnormal social behavior and failure to understand reality. Common symptoms include false beliefs, unclear or confused thinking, hearing voices that others do not, reduced social engagement and emotional expression, and a lack of motivation.)
For our Unit 5 we had to make a radio drama, the reason on why we needed to create one is because this unit was all about sound and audio effect, this was to test what we knew about audio and what new stuff we could find out about sound.
The radio drama can include sounds that seem like a natural part of the scene: waves breaking on a beach, wind blowing, and dialogue (people on screen talking). These are sometimes called diegetic sounds. Though they  seem real, they don’t have to be recorded live: sound effects are often better than the real thing. Most films also use sound that we know has been added: things like voice overs, and background music. This is called non-diegetic sound which is not really what we were looking for in our drama.
However for unit 6 we had to create a visual drama in order to show all aspects of what we know such as diegetic and non-diegetic sound as well as visual effects on the film. We also had to include a range of things within the drama such as scripted dialog and scuff and a few other things, we had successfully done all of these things within out drama and come out with a predicted grade of a distinction during our presentation.
For unit 7 we had to make the Drama interactive such as being able to chose to alternative endings to the drama. For our drama we chose to do a good and bad ending this gave everyone an idea on what our Drama was like.
In conclusion everything went to plan really well other than a few things such as dates, on one of our filming day’s we were meant to film parts of our film but however we couldn’t film them because a member of our group could not make it in to college, so we had to schedule a different date to film so that’s exactly what we done.
The only other thing that went wrong was editing, the editing was good but it had taken a while to finish the editing process in time for the dead line however the dead line got put back a week because of the weather but this didn’t really matter too much. We had filmed everything in time and just about edited in time to show out final production to get feedback. The feedback was very positive with only one miner issue but that can be changed.

Study on Dramas
After being suggested to watch a Netflix Drama called The End Of The F****** World I decided to take a look at it.  The End Of The F****** World is a British dark comedy-drama television programme, based on a graphic novel of the same name by Charles Forsman, I now see why it was suggested to me by my teacher because it perfectly shows what a Drama is; we needed to research different types of Dramas to show what other types there was so I decided to take a look at this one.
The premise of it is that there is a Kid called James. James is a 17-year-old who believes he is a psychopath. He kills animals as a hobby, but grows bored of the practice. He decides he wants to try killing a human. He settles on Alyssa, a mouthy, rebellious 17-year-old classmate with issues of her own. She proposes they run away together, hoping for an adventure away from her turbulent home-life, and James agrees with the intention of finding an opportunity to kill her.
So they embark on a big adventure to go all across England talking about in-human stuff along the way but secretly James wants to kill her.
This is a genral Idea on what the Drama is about, we needed to research Dramas because Unit 6-7 is all about producing A radio drama and a Visual Drama.

Semiotics
Semiotics is an investigation into how meaning is created and how meaning is communicated. Its origins lie in the academic study of how signs and symbols (visual and linguistic) create meaning.
It is a way of seeing the world, and of understanding how the landscape and culture in which we live has a massive impact on all of us unconsciously.

These pictures show that we had in fact filmed on the 26th of the 1st 2018 for our unit 5- 7 Projects, the filming was for the Drama that we needed to produce and we also edited some of the clips on the day of filming too, The only problem we had was not having enough to shoot the outside scenes however we will be doing that between the days of the 29th - 5th of the 2nd.

Photography and the law
The intellectual property rights on photographs are protected in different jurisdictions by the laws governing copyright and moral rights. In some cases photography may be restricted by civil or criminal law. Publishing certain photographs can be restricted by privacy or other laws. Photography of certain subject matter can be generally restricted in the interests of public morality and the protection of children.
Reactions to photography differ between societies, and even where there are no official restrictions there may be objections to photographing people or places. Reactions may range from complaints to violence for photography which is not illegal.
This is just some research on the fact off the filming Law in the UK.

Ricky - Fine I guess..
Father Of Ricky - Good
(Ricky’s Father slams the door)
Ricky - Alright shit calm...
(Ricky falls asleep once again and goes into a world of shit in his dream, but if his questioning about what he read was correct then it will suggest that he will wake up in a world of shit.)
Ricky - AHHHH!!!
(Ricky wakes up terrified)
Ricky - What the hell is this???
(Ricky finds something ominos on his arm)
Ricky - Ahaha yesss I’m right!!! I knew it, wait a Minute…
(Ricky has just woke up to a world of shit and now can’t leave his house or see his family anymore because of his dream, unless he can find a way out he will be stuck in limbo.)
Ricky - Hello? Anyone there?
(Hours go on and he’s finally starts to calm down and think about it.)
Act 2 Over
Act 3 Ending 1 - Stuck in Limbo
(Ricky was set in to an alternative reality where he will stay in limbo forever, while trying to figure out a way to get out of it).

Drama Synopsis
It starts with a rich working class family living in central Colchester, with perfect lives and couldn’t ask for anything else. The father of the family is a real estate agent and is very good at his job, the mother is a practitioner at a hospital, and the three children are normal kids going to School, College and university.
The middle child is the odd one out and is different to everyone else and reads an article about various theories, theories that were beyond his age of 17.
The butterfly effect (With reference to chaos theory: the phenomenon whereby a minute localized change in a complex system can have large effects elsewhere.)
Last Thursdayism (This is the core idea behind something called Last Thursdayism, the belief that the universe was created last Thursday. In order for something to be a theory, it must be possible to prove it wrong. Therefore, Last Thursdayism falls into the realm of philosophy.)
Although being very synonyms at what he does achieving the best he possibly can he came across the theory of Last Thursdayism, he loved the idea so much he told his whole family about it and they all thought he was going crazy but that was just all the stress they had, a defeated boy walks and soobs to his room and falls to sleep without a word.
After waking up he suddenly realises that something isn’t quite right, the house is as silent as a hill this is unusual. He starts to get Déjà vu and starts to become delusional and paranoid that something is not right, after hours of thinking he finally concluded that it was the theories that he had read the previous night before or was it it?.
After the realisation that there was something not right he started to re-live out his previous day this made him happy, having a day of from college he had some relief from that but that was just the start of it, so he started reading more theories after hundreds of pages later he listed the most favorite ones that he liked, It was the last Thursday Theory of course and the Butterfly effect theory these two were his most liked and he was certain that these theories that was causing the confusing time.
After all this he begins experimenting with his new found life, by this I mean of course the theories being put in place of reality.
Ending 1: He loves what he has created by accident and his new life couldn’t be better without anyone init as it’s the end of the day he sleeps, not does he sleep but he trips, trips into a new reality and without realising has to relive all of his past days within limbo not knowing how to get out.
Ending 2: He goes on to publish what he had discovered and what his life is like but unfortunately there must be catch to all of this. After day’s of fame from people he gets a chronic pain in his back and starts to not only go in a world of S*** but he starts to move into his own reality and.

Music Video Evaluation
Pre-Production:
So, because me (Ben) and Lewis had to forget about our plan A because of unproductivity we went with plan B. Our Plan B was to make a music video just with us two in a group, but What I had suggested was that we work on our plan B with Nathan And Tommy because they also went on their plan B because of unproductivity as well.
So we decided to work as a four for this unit and settle on the fact of what we wanted to do. Me and Lewis had the choice of song when Nathan and Tommy had the idea for what the music video will look like, so what we had done is we sat down and started some paper work on what we were going to do.
After filling all the paper work out we worked out a place on where we could go and knew we could use it because it was in the Colchester town area, after this we waited on till the day to film.
Production:
After doing all of the pre-production paper work and planning we had decided to chose a stright forward location which will long long stretch of walk ways in the centre of town. We had started our production in a round a bout area next to the newly built courts because we thought this was the best place to start our first shot, as our production went on, we walked and talked about different types of shots we could use and do, such as B rolling or maybe jump cuts.
Trough time we more or less moved from point A to Point B, C and D infill we had finished the production, although just in case we done a few filler shots in the dark so we could fill some scenes up however we did not need them as we had hit the end of our songs length so we had to cut it short.
Instead of getting random people in our shots we left it infill people had left the area although some people did get in the way of filming but it didn't really make too much difference.
Post-Production:
After doing all the filming we now needed to edit the music video. We managed our time very well by getting all the filming done in one day although we needed to get one more shot before it got dark although we couldn't get it because it get's dark in winter quite quickly so we had to leave that shot, however after completing all the filming we left it in-till we were next in which was the next Monday.
Monday was the day we locked over all of our footage to assemble it and see what we needed to use or re-do, although we wouldn't be doing any other filming day's due to not having enough time to. After all of the assembly, we started to edit the footage in Premier and we talked about what we could edit it like although we decided to go with the fact of a high effect, by this I mean we used an (Echo) effect which just makes an adjustment layer and duplicates the clip in to one next layer which is still the same clip just with an effect on it. After deciding what type of edit we should go for we only had taken the whole Thursday lesson to get it edited because we are a very practical team.
Other then the editing part we all knew exactly what we were doing as well as while we were filming, we all knew where we needed to meet however not everyone turned up on time but we did film by 10am which was our start time to film, I think I worked very well with all the roles I was doing, I was helping out with Directing and I was main camera operator so I think I don't damn well on helping out. However we had all preformed well while we were filming, Nathan, Tommy And Lewis done great.
Finished Production:
After completing all of the aspects filming, editing and planning I think we worked very well as a group. We used and lot of technical planning types such as Audience theory, however by using this it had helped us distinguish what type of music and what type of video we could do for a theoretical audience, by this I mean a Hypothetical audience which isn't a real audience. Overall the production was very professionally done, the planning was great we did not have a problem with that, the filming was also great because we all put some input in to what shots could look good and the editing proses of what type of edit we could use was very well done too due to also talking a discussing what type of edit we could use instead of just doing a randomly done edit.
The only weakness of the group was not having enough roles to do. As a group of four, we had not too many roles to fill because there was not enough thins to do, such as We did not know what Tommy could do so we put him a director of lighting which didn't really make too much different on his behalf although it did give him something to do. The aesthetic quality of our work from start to finish was great the planning was great to the extent of the how we work as a group, we work very well and got planning straight away, with the filming we had taken the time to schedule a time set to film on which was 10am and everyone turned up by then, before we filmed anything we had made on what we were doing and made sure it was the best shot possible.
I think overall we all done pretty well although Me and Nathan had the most roles of Directing, acting, being a camera operator and editing the music video as a whole, this has given me some in-site of what doing various roles are like and I do enjoy them.
The overall production op this whole project was very good and the photography too, this is because out final production camera out exactly as we wanted it to turn out to look like, our planning was great, filming and editing was great too which made our finished project even more successful because we knew that we had done well.
We are all glad that we changed to our plan B's because if we hadn't we would not of known what to do with our self's, Saying this we worked well as a group and will be continuing to work as best as we can to get the best project possible from our work.
In Conclusion:
As a group our project went very well, we got and produced exactly what we wanted to produce and we worked very well together, however we only had one problem out the whole entire production and that was we mist an opportunity on getting another shot however it had gotten dark due to being in the winter.

Contextual Analyses
To day for our contextual analyses we had leant the idea of Audience Theory, Audience theory is an element of thinking that developed within academic literary theory and cultural studies. With a specific focus on rhetoric, some, such as Walter Ong, have suggested that the audience is a construct made up by the rhetoric and the rhetorical situation the text is addressing.
Uses and gratifications theory is an approach to understanding why and how people actively seek out specific media to satisfy specific needs. UGT is an audience-cantered approach to understanding mass communication.
The Hypodermic Needle Model-Basically, the Hypodermic Needle Model suggests that the information from a text passes into the mass cons
ciouness of the audience unmediated, ie the experience, intelligence and opinion of an individual are not relevant to the reception of the text. This theory suggests that, as an audience, we are manipulated by the creators of media texts, and that our behaviour and thinking might be easily changed by media-makers.
Two-Step Flow-The Hypodermic model quickly proved too clumsy for media researchers seeking to more precisely explain the relationship between audience and text. As the mass media became an essential part of life in societies around the world and did NOT reduce populations to a mass of unthinking drones, a more sophisticated explanation was sought.
Uses & Gratifications-Diversion - escape from everyday problems and routine.
Personal Relationships - using the media for emotional and other interaction, eg) substituting soap operas for family life
Personal Identity - finding yourself reflected in texts, learning behaviour and values from texts
Surveillance - Information which could be useful for living eg) weather reports, financial news, holiday bargains.
Reception Theory-Reception theory is a version of reader response literary theory that emphasizes each particular reader's reception or interpretation in making meaning from a literary text. Reception theory is generally referred to as audience reception in the analysis of communications models.
These are all the theories that we had leant in class, why are these methods used? these are used because they can offer a lot to the production which is being made and it can help see what people are interested in and like, this is going to help us because we need to apply these to our own work, regardless weather we're in a group or not, we do this because it is good to lean all of the skills and Theories at our ever expanding carriers, so therefore it is going to help us out a lot when it comes to making different types of productions.

Audience Theory
In today’s lesson we had leant how much the audience can be manipulated through mass media.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vn9_0mTfT3Y
Cultivation theory is about how people watch the mass media and then what they like, such as oranges. The mass media can affect people’s opinions on what they like. So if the media say something negative about an orange for example it will possibly change or question what you like.
https://youtu.be/7hKaIeAi7OI
Hypodermic needle theory is about how in adverts they make their products look better and interesting to the viewers, which helps sells their product. Such as in the Levi’s jeans advert where this cool looking guy in his Levi’s jeans walks into the laundry place, then he takes off his clothes to show that if you buy these jeans you’ll look as cool as you.

CONTEXTUAL ANALYSIS Unit 4
After going with plan B I had to change all the paperwork and the CONTEXTUAL ANALYSIS side of Unit 4. For our Music video idea me (Ben) Nathan, Lewis and Tommy who I work with no came up with and Idea of doing a music video on Arctic Monkeys (Why do you only call me when you’re high?) song, because we knew what type of song it was, which was Pop, and we looked at their music video for their song too. After that, we had  look at some other videos that were like it such as TOP - Stressed out and Panic in the discos - Death of a batuler, why these ones?  Well these song relate to the song that we are doing a lot because they are the same type of genre and same century so we thought that was the best way to distinguish what other songs we could compare.
The video sees the Twenty One Pilots pair perform an elaborate secret handshake. Tyler Joseph told a radio station that: "When Josh and I first started traveling around in a van and we had to sleep in that van, in parking lots and stuff like that, I remember one of the first times we ever got our own hotel to sleep in instead of sleeping in the van, we shared a room together and we were like, wow, we need to take advantage of this opportunity of us being in the same hotel room for the first time, let's make a secret handshake," he recalled, this is why the music video is un-out of the ordinary but it works very well because of the successes it has, which is a lot more successes than the music video song we are doing, although why didnt we chose this song? Well because we already had an idea on this song and we thought it will work better then doing a music video on the TOPs Stressed out song.
However, In Verse 1, Panic! at the Disco's frontman ponders how he's changed. Brendon Urie sings, "Do I look lonely? / I see the shadows on my face." Something's changed and he, as well as as others, can tell that all is not well. He continues, "People have told me I don't look the same." He suggests that maybe he "lost weight" but comes to no final conclusion.
But instead of finding out the problem or attending to his tasks, he's "playing hooky with the best of the best." He's avoiding his responsibilities in what appears to be a very introspective moment. But, instead of only keeping his thoughts inside his head, he's letting everyone else see too: "Put my heart on my chest so that you can see it too." He wants support of some kind, even if it is just someone else acknowledging his present state of mind. This describes the lyrics off the video but the video is very much like the lyrics, easy to understand, catchy and is bland, by this i mean it has no colour, but although I chose to do this one also because it’s also pop in genre wise which is relevant to our music video.
In conclusion for the comparison for all three music videos I think we chose a great song to use for our music video because it is pop, and people know the band and what they do so it may be more popular in the sense of it will be more well known theoretically, I chose the other two songs because they are very relevant in genre wise to the song choice that we are doing, the way we had achieved this decisions was through hard thinking and hypodermic needle theory which means (The hypodermic needle model ( known as the hypodermic-syringe model, transmission-belt model, or magic bullet theory) is a model of communications suggesting that an intended message is directly received and wholly accepted by the receiver, by this I mean that we had taken all of our idea’s in to consideration and said positive an negative things about them although this is the only technique that we thought of to use during talking about idea’s.
