In this universe it is the times of the Gilded age, which is the Victorian era of America, though you can get as loose as you want with your characters as long as they are based somewhere in the 1800s, historical accuracy is of course a flexible rule.

This is an AU based for the characters of the Historical Resurrection RP (@columbiauniversity-schoolboard) and possibly the characters sorrounding them, and this is of course inspired by the Summer Camp AU (@roleplay-summercamp-au). Nothing which happens in this RP is canon to that one. Since this is an alternate universe, these RPs are segregated and seperate, and so—any lore or information about the characters shared here will stay here in this RP.

// Hello! I think it’d be a little easier to explain OOC due to Monet himself not really understanding how things happened 😭

The RP group Monet started in is centered around the idea that historical figures, real and OCs, came back to life after their deaths. One minute they’re alive, next minute they’re in the modern world. Monet, for example, died in his bed at the age of 86 but woke up here in his 22 year old body.

It’s never really been stated how this is happening, just that NYC is full of these recently resurrected historical people. When the people come back, they have no idea what’s happening and have to become acclimated to modern times. It’s an interesting concept and fun to play around with!

I’ve seen theories floated around (mainly by anons) that this is the afterlife, the characters have been reincarnated, or the characters are zombies or ghosts (they are not). One of my OCs, Alfred, is convinced there’s a rip in the space-time continuum and will stop at nothing to figure this mystery out. There’s never been a definite answer to the question though, and I don’t think there ever will be!

how was that sourdough experiment going? did anything interesting ever happen

*hums and nods gently* Ah, Jarvis, of course... Well... what once was but a hydration levels experiment, is now... a sentimental attachment to dear Emylia; so much so, that I am quite so afraid to– *clears his throat* actually bake the thing. The good news is, a sourdough starter can last indefinitely if it is well-maintained. As long as it's regularly fed with fresh flour and water, typically every twelve hours or more when kept at room temperature.

The modern world certainly cherry picks those it wishes to bring so much attention to.
