Continuing to have horrible trouble writing lately :( the prompts people gave were very appreciated and gave me joy to think abt but my brain just Aint Workin’ when it comes to writing fic somehow

It's okay I'm just thinking about how Nat's entire life she's always been left out of the loop so that people can take advantage of her and she's always tried to hard to take charge anyway (and has always been good at the role). Her whole entire life she's been scared and yet so brave when it comes to trying to stop others from suffering the same fate. Every single time she thinks she knows something -- even when she thought she'd seen it with her own eyes, done it with her own hands -- she finds out that she's been lied to all over again, but she just never gives up trying to be better.

Like I'm as sad as everyone else is that she died but it was always going to happen that way. The first act of bravery we see from her is the instinct to protect someone else from her own experience as the rug is pulled from under her feet. The first time she thought maybe she'd be okay. Maybe she'd find a good life. Suddenly it isn't, but the most important thing is protecting someone smaller and younger from that. And the last thing she ever does is be lied to only to walk willingly to the cliff anyway. They don't tell her that she'll die on vormir, but it doesn't matter when it means that she can save so many people. They could've told her and she'd have hopped on the jet anyway, but they don't, because no one ever does. No one trusts her enough to let her know anything. Even her own allies.

She never gets the full picture, she never will get the full picture, but she's going to do the best she can with the information she can get anyway. She's going to fight for scraps and use them to protect everyone else from having to be as scared in the dark as she is.

Ao3 getting on my nerves so bad, i SWEAR it used to automatically change the ‘updated’ date when you added a new chapter but it has absolutely NOT been doing that as ive been posting zombies and its so annoying

I have to speak my truth and say i cannot understand the hc i see so often that Maria doesnt know how to bake. baking is just following strict rules!! she knows how to do that!! thats what shes best at!! Maria Hill makes the best darn cupcakes in SHIELD but no one knows because she never has time to make them and even if she did no one would be eating them besides her little circle. if anything shes the person who infuriates everyone else by being stupidly good at baking something hard her first time and then being like ‘its easy. you literally just follow the recipe how do you fail’ shes also the sort of person that would absolutely be like why the fuck am i doing this step, and thus learn the science behind baking, and then be able to make adjustments! like i just dont get it man. i dont get it. she doesnt have time to bake, but she absolutely can

a lot of fic rec lists focus heavily on long fics but here’s a shoutout to short fics they give so much snack-size joy i hate how writing short form is sometimes looked down upon it has its own challenges and deserves so much more respect and love because a well executed short fic can ruin your life in 20 minutes
