This beautiful golden head was discovered during the excavations of 1897-1898 by Quibell (James Edward Quibell was a British Egyptologist.) The ornament was buried under the main floor, along with other votive objects (an object offered in fulfilment of a vow, such as a candle used as a vigil light.)

The big black eyes, which look proud and threatening, are made of a single piece of obsidian (is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed when lava extruded from a volcano cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. It is an igneous rock.)
