Blade of the Masochist: Other Factions

I came up with the factions of the novel first. The rival faction to the wardogs, Thirteen are an intentional ideological misnomer.

Thirteen, named as the thirteenth American survivor state, is a liberal monarchical warrior culture of believers and scientists, founded by climate survivors to protect those other 12 "Arks" or socioeconomic hotbeds at the end of the world. Several characters from the book are from Thirteen and I consider them narrative antagonists, one an ally in book one attempting to stop a war, all citizens I consider dueteragonists, regardless.

I don't consider the people of Thirteen villains at all because their cause is a worthy one and they all descend from people on this landscape. Their only fault is tying up every minority they hope to protect in their spying shadow war.

The villainous factions, then, range from subtle abuses of power to on the nose.

Who is the governing power over North America in the future. Something called the New Order of Nations (NOON) on the east coast, on top of those original thirteen settler states. A golden wall just before Appalachia separates their climbing mega structure from wardog territory, the westlands. NOON is the faction born of the descendants of the UNs best and brightest from all over, claiming freshly devastated land. Only New York City and DC survive. I came up with all these at age 15 btw.

The Raiders are fucking filth and they are adults licensed by NOON as a way for wardogs to mark and track them. It is not a wardogs job to apprehend Raiders, just subdue major insurrection with an emphasis on taking their stuff.

That is until Cliff gets his hands on Raiders. See Cliff might as well been born hating them but the battle for Chicago in the book is a four faction entanglement, Thirteen, the wardogs, the Raiders, and the city police. The Raiders attack first. Thirteen chases their vendetta with the city out of sheer opportunity.

The wardogs and the police fight the other two until only two factions come out as survivors of the siege. Not telling which ones. Though I feel it's obvious.

The Complete Cycle of the Living Ghost

The Cycle of the Living Ghost is an anthology of six poetry/prose collections. It details the abstract, enigmatic genderless character of the Living Ghost as the loose narrator who spends six books learning what it takes to break away from the traumas, systems, and otherworldly paradoxes that cause them the most harm.

With "godsung warsongs" ending the cycle of the Living Ghost, I implore anyone who has ever picked up a copy of one of them to spread this, I know I need the help rn. I find it perfectly okay to request people reblog this if you've interacted with my art in a meaningful way before. After all, this is essentially the end of the anthology and eventually, this iteration of my blog.

The collections and the blog are now a complete package. This blog is now my first portfolio. I’m proud of that and I’m sharing my life with you all for essentially free.

And, if you feel inclined, please consider reading all this in the narrative/timeline order presented above. I never mind people picking these up for free so long as you tell someone about it. It is exposure. It is. I would like feedback on that flow eventually.

Trigger Warning! If you struggle with the things I struggled with, I personally like to believe I spent 4 years writing our swansongs but I do think that if you don't want to hear about trauma, self-harm, and delusion in like every other poem then this is that trigger alarm. I was young and edgy at first. Now I'm just a very angry writer which is why I really would just rather write rap and sing punk songs now.

No matter what you do or I do with the art going forwards, I just want to take the time to thank everyone involved with my half career to know that you personally saved my fucking life. This is end for now. Let's have a glass!
