The second character sheet is ready! This is a home version:3 At home, Barry makes rituals and art, and he allows himself to dress a little more casually than usual. You're unlikely to see him in a T-shirt on the street.

If you think trans men and mascs as a whole are privileged for being men and don’t have even their gender stripped from them as part of the discrimination and oppression against them, you only ever think of the most passing and stealth trans man ever when you hear “trans man” don’t you?
Why, when that is the vast minority of trans men and mascs, are we saying that this is a truth for trans men—that they get male privilege?
Is it because you think all trans men and mascs should be trying to achieve cis-passing and stealthing? Is it because you don’t really think of trans men and mascs as anything other than cis men but with a sprinkle of transness that maybe could spice up their experiences? Or as cis women having a silly time with their gender expression?
Because any time I bring up that this centres a very small minority of cis passing and stealthing trans men, I end up with people calling my transness into question. Mocking my name choice. Mocking that I don’t want surgery. Mocking that I’m not on T. Mocking that I’m not trying to be an exact copy of a cis man.
The ties between transmed/truscum nonsense and the denial of trans men and mascs the ability to more easily speak on our experiences are way more linked than some people seem to realize.

every year I come closer to the conclusion that the push to categorically exclude allies from pride is a psyop. it accomplished nothing and sows massive division. why are we so fixated on it. it doesn't matter. let them come and kick them out if they behave badly/show that they're not actually good allies. idc

And also it rubs me completely the wrong way to characterize what is essentially "fancy scifi BDSM" as uniformly toxic because there's some sort of form of inequality between partners. Like, as a queer man, to me this comes off as being overly judgemental about anyone who participates power dynamics for kink reasons. Kink is play. It's not reflective of how people really feel in day to day life.
Fictional kink is even further abstracted from reality. I don't know when we decided that leaning hard into dom/sub dynamics in the structure of a narrative meant that the author and readers don't believe in switching positions, but that's not really even true. The only reason why it's like this is because people enjoy power exchange in this sexual context and there's literally nothing wrong with that. It isn't contradictory with social justice.
I am re-reading The Left Hand of Darkness and unfortunately, my brain is too rotten for this, because all I can think about is an alternate timeline where the girlies got absolutely sauced on this book and instead of inventing the Omegaverse, people just wrote Kemmering AUs instead.
to be clear, Ursula K. LeGuin would hate this

the most disturbing trend in online leftism is outright hostility towards any kind of community building tools and forgiveness whatsoever.

I think 50 shades of grey did so much damage to BDSM writing in fic and like not because I think fic writers were taking inspiration from it, but we did get a lot of detailed explanatory posts about all the different ways in which those guys were Doing It Wrong, which is not in and of itself a bad thing but since then everybody got so hung up on making sure everybody in their fics was nothing like 50 shades of grey and actually demonstrates that yes I do understand the principles of safe sane and consensual and the traffic light system and safewording and aftercare and checking in that now everybody fucks like a 101 handbook and I think we've only just recently started to recover from it. love me a dynamic where it's two repressed freak idiots who accidentally invent BDSM all on their own and have to come up with the strangest most deeply harmful ways of navigating that situation
