I really like this book I’ll be honest. Here’s some of my thoughts on a page LOL I have a lot more to say though

I really hope Riverclan actually becomes a clan where they’re peaceful and lacking the judgmental attitude that is way too common in recent books……… all of the park cats are unique and memorable in their own ways and I love them all. I wish Bee went back with Frostpaw with her to Riverclan, I felt a little bad that Waffle and Wasp just went with Nightheart after they’ve been used to fish their whole lives…. But anyway. I know Bee and Frost don’t really have any romantic interaction at all but I think they were so good together. I kept reading Bee as a girl so she’s a transfem lesbian to me lol also the scene with them comforting Frostpaw feels so… sad to me? It feels like in the clans there’s no support system for anyone. Life is so set in stone for them all they don’t really seem to have the time to really comfort and check in on others, they’re too busy trying to survive themselves. It’s honestly pretty miserable? BESIDES THAT I actually really enjoyed Sunbeams perspective. Her trials weren’t drawn out and her interactions with everyone were so positive and supportive it’s hard to dislike. Oh and Finchlight and Sunbeam should have gotten together sorry guys……… I do kind of enjoy nightsun but I love lesbians more sorry.

I am so happy that a big part of both this and last book was going "actually switching clans just for a love interest is an awful idea, you're commiting to an entirely new family and way of life you need more than one connection and you need more than romantic love to make it work"

Some people will probably boil it down to 'of course the girl changes clans for the boy again' but I'm just so happy about Sunbeam's story being about making friends and showing culture and deciding she cares about the clan, not just Nightheart.

I'm honestly actually warming up to nightsun, their start was terrible but they continue to be full characters separate from each other whose presence (or lack there of) affects them on more than just a generic romantic level and facilitate each other's growth. And their scenes and interactions are actually quite adorable. A real step up for warriors, it really feels like someone was genuinely inspired for this arc.

I thought this book was going to be a TPONS: in which a female pov spends almost the entire time pining after the male pov she’s in love with because he’s gone off to do a much more exciting thing than she’s doing.

But this book pleasantly surprised me. Sunbeam had a whole arc about working hard to fit in and finding her feet and her own group of friends and embracing the new culture, all by herself when Nightheart just disappears on her.

I personally feel that this was a fantastic thing for them to do.

And I hate to admit it but I’m warming up to NightSun too. Honestly their start was better than Bristleroot at least, and I feel like the main reason myself and so many others are/were opposed is just because we’ve only just had Bristleroot. At this point I can confidently say that I won’t mind if they work out or not, I think I will like either outcome.
