back in freshman year of high school we had this teacher who was really fucking annoying and HATED cell phones with a fucking passion. at the beginning of the school year he had us sign this goddamned “contract” that we wouldn’t have it in class or he would confiscate it.

so this annoying douchebag kid was on his phone and the teacher went “you have to give it to me now you signed the contract” and the kid didn’t even look up and said “contracts signed by a minor are not legally binding” and continued to text. and i hated that kid but…..dare i say iconic

anyway he got detention for it but i just found out he got into law school this year

It’s been a year, and I love you now but you still do not love me.

Autumn

It’s been two months. And here you sit, across the table, sat stretched back like the world owes you something. People stare as we speak. Neither of us are quiet people. Maybe you are making a scene. Or perhaps it is me. My back is turned so I can’t see but you say people are staring at our “lovers quarrel”. You laugh. But you never loved me. Nor I, you. You tell me you’re sorry. You tell me you know this sounds rehearsed but you did rehearse it because I make you nervous. You tell me I “wouldn’t understand what it’s like in your head” I would have, before, if you’d ever let me. You tell me you probably have a drug problem. But I’ve known that since we met. I tell you you should see a therapist and you’re excited by the idea. Of course you are, little narcissus. I will myself to have the power to finish the coffee I hold, to stand up and announce I am leaving and I won’t ever be coming back. But I don’t. I am incapable of it. We spend the afternoon together. And the afternoon turns evening. And we have dinner. And you eat the bits of mine I don’t eat. And it feels so familiar. But I am still so angry with you. When I leave you kiss my cheek and say you want to see me again soon. And I say sure, when I am not sure at all. I am not sure of anything.

My disdain for cops is institutional, not individual. Just because you may have a positive personal relationship with someone who is a cop doesn’t change the fact that the law enforcement system in this country is rooted in white supremacy and is used to repress and control the working class while protecting the elite.

All cops have signed up to enforce a system which is oppressing marginalized people in this country on a daily basis. Your personal relationship with an agent of oppression does not change this fact.

I wanted a name I could shape the music towards. I was going to Miami quite a lot at the time, speaking a lot of Spanish with my friends from Cuba - ‘Lana Del Rey’ reminded us of the glamour of the seaside. It sounded gorgeous coming off the tip of the tongue.
