"Sir, this is Babylon." Slightly confused with the inquiry, Yeji did her very best to keep her gentle smile and even stood up from the reception chair to meet his gaze and height, bringing a sense of attentiveness to the conversation. "We have snacks available, such as fruits, hummus and cheese in the lounge areas." Yeji nodded, gesturing with her hands towards the direction the food items would be.
"If you wish to have food during your time with one of our beauties, please kindly ask them if they'd be comfortable with it first." Her voice is still calm, hoping the man before her would be understanding that not everyone wished to have crumbs in their bed. "Please be aware that we do not have room services for food, we hope you understand." Yeji never dwelled in thinking what happened during the appointments, but her instinct made her feel that food wasn't a common concern during people's time at Babylon.

Despite not being particularly discreet, Yeji still jumped on her feet when the other confronted her recent behaviour. "Oh, hi!" It wasn't like she intended to follow or stalk Haoyu, but the circumstances of the recent days always led to her curiosity take the best of her. The first day she had seen him at Jinxxed and there was a particular detail in the man that caught her attention.
That along with the fact Yeji had very little common sense of what was appropriate or not socially, made her follow him around whenever they'd cross paths. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable, but there's something I want to ask." Her voice is gentle, like a truthfully harmless young girl she was. "What is your hair care routine? You have such a lovely hair, I have been too shy to ask so I guess my curiosity came across creepy... Again, I'm sorry."

Yeji perked up at the other's words, holding her violin with both arms and glancing around briefly. "I'm not a hostess but I can help you find a table. We're a bit busy tonight you know, Christmas dinners for different company meetings and groups." Not being afraid to help Honeypot, she guided the other around the tables. "Are you alone? Just asking so I know how large of a table you'd need. Also, I do have some suggestions when it comes to food, everything is amazing but I do have a couple of favorites."
The music was sounding and bringing the whole place to a festive vibe and Yeji would hum the classic tunes melodically. "Later on I'll be performing a couple of covers, but trust me, I'm bringing a refreshing side of Mariah Carey." She chuckled, wiggling her violin so he could see.

"Ah... I'm not sure." The holidays were just around the corner and even though this was not her first Christmas with Ayden and at Mount Phoenix, this year it had a rather bittersweet feeling to it. Yeji had minor plans for this year's celebrations, but she had no idea how it would unravel or even if she was courageous enough to go through with it. But despite her internal turmoil, Yeji would relieve Ayden from being aware of it, for now.
She looked back at her twin, giving Ayden a small smile before bringing her hand to fix his hair. "I think I'm just stressed about what am I getting you, mom and Vulpe for Christmas." She lied and she hated it, but in her mind, it was necessary. "I also been tired lately. Pushing myself a little too hard between the two jobs and making sure I have things prepared for Christmas."

Starry Night β¨
If sober, the presence of someone else approaching wouldn't pass by unnoticed thanks to her naturally enhanced senses. But sobriety had been long abandoned that night. Still thinking she was alone Yeji raised the bottle to mimic the gesture of holding a violin, acting as she was playing her favourite instrument and chanting some popular song she had learned recently while walking down the street.
Her goal wasn't to enter the forest but considering how Yeji had been aimlessly walking for the last minutes, her feet were now stepping on the grass that introduced the path towards it. Her eyes take a couple of seconds to scan the landscape in front of her, trying to decide if she should continue walking or not. "Yah!" Before Yeji made a decision, a sudden voice startled her, to the point Yeji held the bottle's neck in a motion of threatening to hit the stranger with it.
The scenario wasn't threatening at all, considering Yeji's lack of sobriety and her sparkly soft eyes. "Who are you? Where did you come from?" Her questions weren't to be taken seriously, simple rambles from a tipsy silly girl. "I wasn't going thereβ¦ maybeβ¦" She has a hard time keeping still, body wobbling to the sides ever so slightly while putting the bottle down. "Wanna share?" She offered the drink, carrying an idiotic smile. Truly a naive tipsy young demigoddess. "I can clean the tip for you!"
yanluo was a far way from home, but that's not particularly unusual. after closing the tea house for the night, he had gone to his new apartment for a shower and changed from modern clothes into his favourite traditional blue and grey robes. the glamour lifted, and his hair fell gracefully along his back. not much of a homebody in the apartment complex he still wasn't very used to, yanluo had gone out for the night as he often did. ( he rarely slept anyways. )
wandering the streets, observing his surroundings and the occasional demigod tripping over their own feet, yanluo remarked that it was a busy night. it was a saturday night, one of two nights a week he both loved and hated. the other one being friday. the growl of a hungry beast stirred inside his heart but yanluo repressed it. today was not one of those days he should let his inner monster out. work had been tiring and all he wanted now was a quiet walk of contemplation.
( he still wondered why the hell he had come to this place. )
the quiet god had been walking for about twenty minutes when he came across a demigod all by herself. he heard the sweet sound of a light giggle and the corner of his lips curved upwards slightly in a smirk. foolish girl. what was she doing so close to the forest all by her lonesome. making up his mind, yanluo turned in her direction and walked casually behind her.
he wasn't stalking her, by no means. yanluo quickened his pace only slightly to make sure he reached her quick enough for her not to be wary of the shadowy presence behind her. ( if her senses were still intact drowned in all that alcohol. ) calmly, yanluo accompanied her until they were almost near the forest and by then, he glanced down at her. hands clasped behind his back, yanluo turned slightly, bending ever so slightly into her personal space as he spoke. "are you sure it's wise to go into the forest tonight?"

β do you have any last words? β
β the sea's been calling. well, not exactly calling, because i pretty much can't swim, but you get the idea. β
β so what do you say? are you with me? β
β liar! i know zoro must be after me. who else is worthy of his pursuit? β
β who's the most powerful pirate on the seas? β
β first things first. do you have any food here? β
β you don't look like a pirate. β
β i'm not afraid of getting hurt. and i'll prove it to you. β
β i don't get it. why would anyone want to be a pirate? β
β you have the wind on your back, the salty sea air, your loyal crew by your side. you never know what's on the horizon. it's all about being... free. β
β you should never let anyone tell you what you can't do. β
β well, remember the name, 'cause i'm gonna be king of the pirates. β
β people often visit shrines to light candles for those they've lost. who are yours for? β
β you've been following me for three days. what do you want? β
β look, i've been practicing what my face is gonna look like on my wanted poster.β
β i've no doubt your mug will be on a wanted poster one day. β
β all he did was spill a drink on me. β
β you should've fought back! why didn't you kick his ass? β
β not everything can be solved with violence. a man needs to be strong, but he also needs to be good. β
β you're not a real man. you're nothing but a coward. β
β you ate a devil fruit? β
β ever since i was a kid, i wanted to protect people that can't protect themselves.β
β if that's what you want, i think you should do it. i'll help you out. β
β my crew was attacked by pirates. i barely managed to make it out alive. β
β rice balls. for you. β
β you shouldn't draw your blade unless you're prepared to use it. β
β don't kill me, please. my father will give you anything you want. β
β i'd say you live up to your reputation. β
β what's up with the third sword? i mean, where does it even go? β
β what do you say, puppy? do you want to do a trick for me? sit up and beg. β
β i kill your kind for a living. β
β i mean it. i don't owe you anything. β
β you are going to get us both caught if you keep stomping around this place. β
β that was amazing. admit it. we do make a pretty good team. β
β so why did you decide to become a thief? β
β i needed to eat. you do what you have to, to survive. β
β you're right. nothing is more important than food. β
β all great fighters call out their finishing moves. β
β i don't work for you. β
β i'm sensing a little bit of tension amongst the crew. β
β before we met, every choice was made for me. but now i'm gonna do what i want to do. β
β next time we meet, we might be enemies. but for now... we're friends. β
β i'm feeling so... so piratey. β
β well, you're gonna end up feeling watery if i have to throw you overboard. i told you i need absolute silence. β
β don't mess with my hat. β
β oh, i'm sorry. were we interrupting your beauty sleep? β
β don't like what you see? look away. β
β you have a lot of names. i bet everyone in the east blue knows who you are. β
β are you making fun of my nose? β
β i know your type. if there's nothing to gain, you're out. β
β truthfully? i'm kind of hungry. β
β who are you trying to impress? a lost love? an absent parent? or was it someone that you worshipped? β
β i used to know a pirate that wore a hat just like this. β
β for a time, i even thought we were friends. until he betrayed me. just like all the others. β
β he wanted to keep me out of the spotlight! he wanted to keep my star from shining too brightly! β
β is that what he did to you? did he betray you, too? β
β you can slice me and you can dice me, but i'll always put myself back together again. β
β i've been thinking about you for years. β
β i know you're upset, but you should eat something. β
β you're never not hungry. what's going on? β
β you can spill a drink on me and i'll let it slide, but don't you ever threaten my friends. β
β you can't make people love you. just like you can't make them smile. β
β you really think anyone is coming for you? they don't care. and no one is gonna miss you when you're dead. β
β get lost. β
β i'm just glad that you're okay. β
β what was that? i couldn't hear you over all the drowning. β
β you really don't fear death, do you? β
β what's the plan? you do have a plan, right? that's your thing, plans. β
β you want out? you know the price you have to pay. β
β you want a piece of me? let's see what you got. β
β i think i'll miss you most of all. β
β we're gonna be the greatest pirates the world has ever seen. even greater than your crew. β
β this hat is the most precious thing i own. it means the world to me. and i want you to take it. β
β when we meet again, you can give it back to me. β
β is every day gonna be this crazy with you? β
β if the path to what you want seems too easy, then you're on the wrong path. β

Back to the Start β€ Yeji & Malea
Yeji listened to her boss very attentively, feeling very encouraged and inspired to proceed with her new adventure in being a good employee. Surely her lack of experience not only in workplaces but in life concerned Yeji, but at the same time, she believes in herself to improve and learn quickly. "Thank you. I will keep that in mind!" The younger demigoddess gave Malea a reassuring nod with a wide smile, Yeji's mind already thinking about what type of decorations would fit better with her preference and the establishment's aesthetic.
Having her request granted, Yeji becomes even more excited and already settling in the thought of burgundy being the color to go with, for her desk customization. With Malea's question, Yeji nods again. "Oh I could eat something actually! Afternoon snacks? There's such a thing here?" Yeji did her homework, however, her research on Babylon had centered more on the services provided to the client, not the staff. Her tail wigged happily, very curious to see what type of snacks there was.
"Ah Miss Malea, I do have a question or- something I want to talk about. Given the nature of Babylon, I'm assuming there could clients in need of clarification about the services here, do you think⦠They'd talk crudely and vulgarly? I know elegancy and discretion is also something you strive for, but we can't always control the clients. And given I'm not⦠experienced in any of the actions taken in our services⦠Would I be allowed to ask the client to speak more respectfully?"

The Guard & the fox
The way he worded his opinion towards the clients and co-workers was curious. Referring to the clientele as easy to deal but not using the same terms towards the other people that worked at Babylon had Yeji ponder if there was anyone at the establishment not easy to deal with. However, Maxim's next commentary brought Yeji to be more at ease, surely it was a first impression, but the Japanese Demigoddess had a tendency to do well when interacting with people.
"Well. I like to believe that most people can be nice, in their own way." She speaks with confidence, thanks to her immense naivety. "You're a security personnel right? The way I see it, by establishing order, you are being nice towards the people that work here!" His chuckle was amusing to witness, as Yeji noticed Maxim seemed to have a more stiff poise, but a necessary stance for someone of his position.
Yeji was too entertained with his explanation, imagining the whole scenario in a rather cartoonish manner. "Oh did you kick their butt out of the door? Like in the movies? I hope you did, sneaking into a room, that's just maliciousβ¦" The young woman had a tendency to express herself very energetically, including crossing her arms and puffing her cheeks as she cursed the person from his anecdote. "Not at all. Before Babylon, I worked as a seamstress at For the Fairest and I play violin at Honeypot. Miss Malea was very kind in giving me this opportunity! How about you? First time as a security guard?"
He offered her a small nod, wordlessly confirming her pronunciation. It sounded innocent when she said it, void of prejudice and the curse he saw his own name as. Reluctantly, his lips pressed into a tight smile, born out of a lost fight for control over his features. Maxim wasnβt a warm personβhe has never been. And he certainly didnβt plan on gaining that reputation with the bemused look on his expression. But when he remembered that it might be beneficial to establish some kind of rapport, seeing as how theyβd be working closely together, he allowed his features to soften.Β
βWellβ¦β at the time, he didnβt notice how the corners of his lips tugged upwards againβa more natural sight this timeβand a small shrug shook his shoulders. βItβs not bad. Most clients are easy to deal with and the co-workers,β he paused briefly, the image of his enemy who happens to be his co-worker, flashing across his mind, βare alright, I guess.β Though, to be fair, Maxim might not be the best person to gauge the friendliness of others. βI think youβll get along with them just fine.βΒ
His voice trailed off, almost distracted when his eyebrows knit together in confusion at the shift of her eyes. Maxim could see her look at something just behind him, and curiosity finally caught up with him. The dots only appeared when she started rambling again and with the revelation of her official workplace, he eventually connected them. Of course, it made sense that she kept looking over there.Β Β
When Maxim smiled again, it was quickly succeeded by something that was a mixture of a snort and a chuckleβan unexpectedly genuine reaction. βOh, you definitely donβt help people the way I do.β The words were void of malice, amusement painting his features as he shook his head. βYou seem like youβd be much nicer than I ever could be.β It wasnβt a secret among the halls that calling Maxim was far from being a gentle resolution. Surely, every client would rather receive help from Yeji than make any kind of contact with the security guard.Β
Maybe one day, if they get out of the awkward meeting stage without any animosity between them, he might tell her that watching her reaction to his job was refreshingly endearing. But not today. For now, he would only offer a curt nod in reply to her question. βA couple of times. Had to kick someone out earlier today, actually.β His hands slid into the pockets of his jacket, an action he barely registered. βCaught him trying to peek into one of the rooms, so I got rid of him.β A nod towards her emphasized his question.Β βHave you ever worked at a place like this before?β

Starry Night β¨
open starter for anyone ! tw: alcohol, self-deprecation.
Saturdays were a synonym of a vibrant nightlife, at least for a lot of people her age. Yeji would usually enjoy her only full day off catching up to her hobbies, seeing people she adores or even just practicing to do better at her jobs. But not that particular Saturday as Yeji found herself surrounded by incandescent and beautiful people, dancing like there was no tomorrow. The lights and music at VisiΓ³n / IlusiΓ³n was something Yeji had never experienced before but tonight she wanted nothing but to escape her routine.
Alcohol was always something new, but thankfully there were very sweet and fruity options to help her enjoy the drinks and the effects of the substance. But everyone had their limits and Yeji was reaching hers, feeling the need for fresh air but ultimately leaving the nightclub after purchasing a large bottle of blueberry vodka. Heading to the benches that rested between downtown and the forest, the imagery wasn't very flattering but Yeji did not care.
Her mind had been flooded with thoughts of how she was disgusted with herself, the realization of what had been done to her body and how she questioned if she really deserved the love of her family and friends. All of this took the shape of a considerably tipsy Yeji, humming and occasionally taking a sip of her bottle. Giggling her sorrows away.

Having their hangout being interrupted by his ringtone wasn't something out of the ordinary but the fact Ayden picked up the phone up and kept it in front of his face was odd. Usually Yeji would keep to herself, minding her own business while he's busy with the conversation over the phone. But this was something different than a simple chat and the curious little fox would occasionally glance at her twin brother, from the distance between the couch he sat on and her kitchen area.
It was no doubt, the voice of a woman. And Ayden's tone while talking to said lady was something Yeji never heard before. He was giddy, soft and honestly, weird. At least in Yeji's perception. Not being close enough to make out the words exchanged between Ayden and the mysterious woman, Yeji stayed in her lane. Only making the comment once the call was over. Her words were accompanied by a squint of eyes, like a detective grilling a suspect.
To Ayden's revelation, Yeji's ears perked up, tail as well. "EH!?" The demigoddess knew her brother was a nice person, knew how to dress well and someone interesting and talented. But the thought of her twin brother actually dating someone, kissing someone made her flush and whine like a little kid. "Girlfriend? Ahri? Who's Ahri? How come I never heard of her before?" It was very likely Ayden had mentioned the name before, but Yeji's memory of names was nearly, nonexistent. "When did this happen? Does she treat you well? I need to meet her!"
β you treat all ladies like that? β (imagine she saw something sus between Ayden and Ahri)
He partly did not expect Yeji's question, even though he was pretty sure she had witnessed the whole video call between Ahri and him. Their conversation was still safe enough to be carried out in public, but it was almost impossible to deny that love was not in the air. The call should be just to remind her that they would go out for dinner later that evening, but knowing himself, Ayden could not just let Ahri hang up without turning her into all giggly and blushing with his flirty remarks.
"No, not all, I actually treat just one lady like that," Ayden suddenly found himself being sheepish, his cheeks got warm and there must be a super shy smile on his face. It was somewhat awkward to admit it aloud, especially to his twin sister, but Yeji would always be the very first person he would like to break the news to. "So, Ahri and I, we are dating, she's my girlfriend now."

~ Unveiling the Past ~
Inari wasn't wrong to mention Ayden as a more sensical choice for what Yeji needed. And even though she knew her twin would be nothing but caring and honest, the nature of the conversation felt too intense to allow Yeji to seek Ayden. "I love Ayden and he loves me. I love you too Mom and I believe you love me too." A chill went down her spine, it was the first time Yeji had voiced out her wholesome affection for Inari. The two may not know each other for long, but Yeji did feel strongly for her mother.
"But what I need at the moment is not love, but honesty. With no sugar coating and I think you're better at that." Her voice was serious, but respectful. Like a child trying to make her point across the big grown-ups. "My circumstancesβ¦" The word weighed on Yeji, making her mind return to the dark assumptions she had regarding her upbringing. Yeji leaned back, taking a deep breath and dragging her palms on her face. This had to be done, but now she wasn't sure she had the courage to speak.
No. You are here. Just do it. "I will start with the small things, slowly. For my sake and perhaps yours." Her demeanor shifted, Yeji went from a nervous kit to a determined stance. But as she decided how to voice her thoughts out, Yeji finally took a sip of the drink but making a face as her tongue got burnt. A comedic second before the heavy talk.
"Sleeping on a pillow, on the floor. Okay, or not okay?" Her eyes were now fixed on Inari's. "Eating from a bowl or plate, on the floor. Okay or not okay?" The steam from the tea touched her cheeks, making them gain a light tone of pink. "Other kids I saw, they went to school. I wasn't allowed outside. Okay or not okay?"
Inari watched their daughter with keen eyes, even as their posture upon her preferred settee was casual and relaxed. Everything from the way Yeri tested the cup of tea to the way they fidgeted in their seat reminded the fox deity of themselves. Many eons ago that is, forced to sit still in front of Amaterasu for some lesson or other. How ironic that it seemed Inari was now in the knowledgeable role.
Keeping their expression neutral, Inari listened to Yeji's request, though her question had sent Inari's thoughts travelling quite fast into the past. If they were being honest, the fox deity had not had been as vigilant with their kits in the most recent years as they had probably been in the past. And even in the past, Inari hadn't been as present either. Neglect, might be a word that could be thrown around, but Inari knew that this moment was not the time to self-reflect.
"You are choosing me," Inari began, their voice gentle with just a hint of incredulity. "Instead of your brother whom I know is very close to you? Or as much as could be given your circumstances?" Inari's amber eyes met Yeji's and their expression softened. "If you are sure little kit," It was the least they could do considering.
