The British Pavilion for Expo 2017 Astana: Interactive Yurt and 360-Degree Projection from iart on Vimeo.

The British Pavilion for Expo 2017 Astana assembles visitors inside a precisely designed, interactive yurt, which is surrounded by a computer generated landscape panorama. The installation has been designed by British Architect Asif Khan. iart has been a fundamental partner in developing and realising the central yurt and the panorama.

Consisting of twenty-two connected projections, the panorama shows a landscape surrounded by changing weather. The yurt is constructed of two hundred radially arranged spokes of nearly transparent acrylic glass, reaching a height of four metres. A soft touch on the inside of the spokes suffices to illuminate them: In a split second, light is emitted upwards and illuminates the spokes to the top. After a few moments, the light fades.

Inside the new Merck Innovation Centre in Darmstadt, TAMSCHICK MEDIA+SPACE transforms the company's invisible processes, idea flows and innovation into a large-scale light and sound installation. Located in a mirrored atrium linking two buildings, the light and sound sculpture is composed of 576 organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels, and sensors which create an intelligent system interacting constantly with people moving through the space. Data, emotions and memories coalesce in the sculpture, into an audio-visual artwork. Eighty-five linear, generative and interactive scenes create a synaesthetic cosmos in which ideas of connectedness, innovation and collaboration can be experienced.

The multimedia choreography evokes the impression of a living organism. Cognitive and emotional states like Sleeping, Dreaming, Remembering, Feeling, Observing, Thinking and Playing create the conceptual themes for the piece. Natural, synthesized and abstract soundscapes as wells as scenes in the style of Musique Concrète, produce diverse and constantly changing compositions. During the scenes exploring the theme of “Playing”, Light Cloud interacts directly with visitors, the sculpture captures the movement of people within the space and translates it into a light and sound atmospheres.

In the spirit of the Innovation Centre, where a variety of people from different disciplines work together on intelligent solutions for the future, Light Cloud carries visitors from their daily routine, into a surreal world where the certainties of space and time are brought into question. In the energy field of Light Cloud, things and processes can be reimagined and recombined endlessly in new ways.

‘Miradas’ explota este poderoso insight para lanzar el mensaje de ‘Se Salen’ de cara a los Juegos Paralímpicos de invierno: “No dejes de mirarnos”. Porque toda la atención que los deportistas paralímpicos reciben por la calle puede convertirse en un enorme apoyo si no dejamos de mirarles cuando están compitiendo al más alto nivel.

Forrest Minchinton was raised by the desert. Growing up in Huntington Beach, CA, Forrest and his surfboard shaper dad - Mike - took every chance they got to head out to the Mojave desert. There, on a remote compound constructed from objects lost and found, Forrest learned to ride motorcycles, shape surfboards, and see the world through a different lens.

"Dust to Dust" is an oneiric piece about a journey where we emerge, we evolve, change, break, put the pieces together again and keep changing and going forward until we reach our destination. This journey depicts life which is represented as a cycle, as a loop where there is no tangible destination because the destination is the journey itself.
